Great review on a longer, skinnier boat that is much better for river running than tight, steep creeking.

I know the traditional LL hull has been popular in the SE, but this looks a hull those in the mid Atlantic and even the PNW might be happy to see.

I love the outfitting. It's not broken. I don't want them to fix it. I've been paddling a Party Braaap for a couple of years and it's amazing when I know exactly where I'm going and how I want to get there (confident). I love zipping around rivers in it. New stuff and bigger water has left me wanting a bigger boat with an edge - more than a Machno but not so much that I'm tripping over it. It was coming down to a Code but then this came along.

I just fell out of my chair,Venom for the win, very interesting design. When is too much rocker, too much rocker, After watching Zet Kayaks Ninja, Matt of Eddyline podcast got me thinking. But I think all the redesigns and new boats is better for all of us.

The Venom is such a good color it was a originally a crescent kayaks color then a Bonafide color now it had been ported over I said day one when we got the bonafide Venmo color i would love to see a whitewater kayak in this color well now it’s here! And yeah rocker is a good thing if done right…

Honestly, initially I wasn’t crazy about the drain plug placement either, however after some of the points you made and taking into consideration that when you do go to drain the boat by standing it up on the stern, you’ll probably get about 99% of the water out as opposed to drain plugs that are on top of the back deck which I usually find myself either rocking the boat back-and-forth or sponging the rest out.

Honestly at 86 - and it's length/weight - it's a monster. More Creek than River runner. Any plans to make it smaller? It leaves a lot of folks out such as myself, who run in the 59.
@WadeHarrison

It’s a medium and actually right on par with other boats in this space Gnarvana Code Scorch. And I agree they really need a small and the word I got was yes it’s coming but don’t know what the size will be yet? I did a side by side to the Gnarvana to give idea of the size and will have few more side by side coming check link below 👇 Jackson Gnarvana VS Liquid Logic RMX86 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qrtim8dzxNrbnWQ.html

I gotta say, the lines from bow to stern, deck, sides and hull are beautifully done. Very sexy and they appear to be quite functional. Prettier bow than the Gnarvana! Some WW schools that used the Remix for a couple years and switched over to the Antix 2.0 in 2022 may go back to the LL RMX for 2023. I also think the Bad Ass backhand feels too low. I thought I saw a video that put a taller plate or foam in there?

I’ve had a lot of creekers in the last 10 years but no one makes a boat as good as liquid logic. I’ve owned a jefe grande and I picked up my 4th remix 79 for nostalgia earlier this year. The plastic is tough especially here in the uk with our lack of granite and abundance of sharp metamorphic rocks in wales and the limestone and sandstone of northern England LL boats I’ve never split one. the outfitting gives strength and stiffness to the hull it is simple to adjust and never look ragged after years of use. The only thing that has let LL down is the lack of importer here now in the UK and the fact they let Pat Keller waste money developing the squirrel and the delta v which were massive disappointments to LL fans who loved the remix and grande and were looking for a modern replacement from LL as an alternative to high performance boats from the likes of Waka but without the crappy outfitting and flimsy hulls
@WadeHarrison
@WadeHarrison Жыл бұрын
Valid points they missed the mark on some creekers like the squirrel and delta but think they nailed it with this one very different then what’s been offered from LL

Gonna have to give this one a demo!! Been paddling an Alpha for about 18 months and been kicking the tires on trying something new. Would just like to try something planing hull. One thing I've noticed that is unique about the alpha is that it has edges at the bow and loses them about where your feet are. It took me a long time to use that to my advantage but I've learned to drop an early edge and and it'll almost steer itself without a paddle stroke. Misused I think that what gave all the spinouts the alpha is notorious for. The RMX looks like it starts pretty soft at the bow and transitions to that nice hard edge. Interested to see how that that handles! Also would like to say I love the bad ass outfitting but would love to see an update on the thigh hooks!

I put bee's knees in my Alpha. I'd slip out of those braces and lose ability to roll. Thigh braces my biggest complaint about the outfitting. The backband can be customized.

yup, customized backband height by making a couple two-inch loops to replace stock loops that connect to seat cowling. Also added bee’s knees to fix thigh hooks. extra foam in the hip pockets. fits like a glove.

Hey Wade, great review as always! I am looking for a new boat to replace my very old wavesport diesel...something modern with more rocker, nice edge for carving but not too grabby and nice stability ... I am still improving my roll and running mostly class 3, but want something that teaches me to use my edges and surfs well..am i thinking right this might tick a lot of boxes? I am 6"4', around 188 lbs, would you recommend the 86 or 96 please? Have a great day and thank you for answer!
@WadeHarrison

try the 86 first might have to really max that bulkhead out because your height but weight wise you really light for the 96 that boat is massive.

Seems like with the amount of stern rocker the swallow tail won’t even be in the water? It looks to me like that was the way they made it to recess the drain plug and for looks.

@kayakwest
@kayakwest Жыл бұрын
I would love to see how the outfitting does or doesn't work well for multi-day. Can you easily remove the bulkhead and get the backband out of the way? This is THE best looking expedition boat I've seen, but won't get to see IRL so hopefully you can help?
@WadeHarrison
@WadeHarrison Жыл бұрын
I will cover that in my on water review. But can tell you right now the front bulkhead is very difficult to get anything behind without dismantling the entire front wall. And the back deck is accessible but the rear seat height limits the size of bags to get back there. But has generous amount of storage back there..

Hi Wade, first please let me thank you for all your wonderful content. I’m a brand new paddler just learning how to roll. I currently own a Stomper 80. I was thinking of maybe upgrading to the RMX 86, Pyranha Scorch, or dagger code. If you were to recommend to me what to do which would you pick for me? Thank you so much in advance.
@kylecolmar964
@kylecolmar964 Жыл бұрын
I see that you basically answered this question in the comments. I saw your response that the RMX might be a bit much to handle for a brand new paddler. I guess my question is keep the Stomper 80 or trade up for one of the others I mentioned. Which would be your top choice for me out of the ones I mentioned. I just learned how to roll. I know demoing the boats is a good idea, but honestly I don’t even know if I would notice the difference yet
@WadeHarrison
@WadeHarrison Жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s difficult because i understand that a boat like this might be a little much for the beginner paddler. It’s longer then most and has edges that will grab. I do feel that a design like this will make you better in the long run.but something like the code or gnar might be better at taking care of you when your not paddling well.

Another great review video. Thanks for all you do, Wade Harrison! The logo with the big X seems intended to refer to the Pyranha Scorch X, this boat’s closest competitor. Of course Shane wouldn’t explain it that way, but I would have expected you to point that out, Wade. Do you think that might have been part of Liquid Logic’s intent?

😂 that’s funny and no it has nothing to do with the scorch X it’s just a remix thing I believe him..
