If you use a small craft iron when it starts to bleed you can dry it quick to stop the bleed I pre for to take the color off to pencil with the brush and then add to fabric. That leaves no lines

Hi Lisa! Thanks so much for sharing your expertise. When coloring , and you do not want the lines to show through, use a small circular motion holding the pencil on the side. When you wet it with the medium it will not leave darker marks. Another technique will be to bleed the color onto the medium, then apply to the area. Voilà, no stricks. Again, thanks for sharing.

hahahaa, I've always been a firm believer that a creative mind is NEVER bored hahahaaaa. The fabric you use it totally up to you, you'll get different results from it all so my best advice is to experiment and have fun playing. We are all different, and so you may come across something that you fall in love with material wise. I would use a higher thread count though, so that's something to keep in mind.

Hi Etta :) I did try the freezer paper, and in theory I thought it would work. When you start painting in the colors, rubbing the fabric causes it to lift off of the freezer paper.........at least when I tried it :)

I have these and the blocks. I found them most inexpensively from Dick Blick. I had my granddaughter coloring on white cotton dishtowels. I believe they also need to be heatset with an iron. We did not set the first ones, and they faded so much. Very disappointing for the kids and me. Anyone else had an issue like this?

I'm excited to hear you might get a computer for your longarm. It does save a lot of time. But you really cant go off and leave it while its stitching cuz a lot can go wrong in short order. LOL What company are you thinking of buying from? My daughter bought one and had it installed in my home because we both thought I would learn to use it. But that hasnt happened because I dont have the patience it takes to set up the patterns. And because of nephropathy in my feet I'm unable to stand for long periods of time. Thankfully she does have patience and she does a good job. Each quilt is a new experience for her cuz "we're" still learning. What i like to do most is the piecing. So I make them and she quilts them. Right now she's behind a few. I'm hoping as you learn to navigate thru the "how it works" you can give some good instruction so we can learn better how to use some of the functions.

Lisa, I have another question. Can these pencils, be used on a quilt that will be washed? I’d like to make a baby quilt or a throw sized quilt using these pencils. Will the ink hold up to washing? I also would like to know the best brushes to use. I know they need to be stiff, but is there any way they have a number or a brand? I'm trying to order online and I can't test the stiffness online. Thank you.

Hi Pat, yes the Inktense pencils are permanent when heat set, of course before you go through all of the work designing, I would take a sample of the materials you will be using, and do some testing first :) They may act differently from material to material. You can use any type of brush, however for spreading the ink more efficiently I like using a course hair brush.....I just looked at my brush and all it says on the handle is " #4 White Artist Bristle".
