When I was in Madrid, they referred to TAP as "Take Another Plane". I still had a wonderful flight to Lisbon. Beautiful city and beautiful people.

My goodness how enormous Lisbon airport has grown over the years from what it had been in the late 1960s when I came through from Funchal on on a TAP Boeing 727-100 and went out to Madrid on an Iberia DC-9-30 came back in on a TWA Boeing 707-331 and went out on a Pan American Boeing 707-321B to Santa Maria, Azores.

At that time only TAP served Funchal on a regular daily basis though a few other charter flights with appropriate short haul equipment came into the very short 5000 foot runway which was like an aircraft carrier!

How were they as far as carryon bag sizes go?? I hear they are sticklers. Did they make people put it in the bag sizer before boarding? I’ve been stressing out about this too much. I fly with them in 2 weeks and mine is not 8” in depth, more like 9😟I dont want to have to pay the high fee to check it at the gate. I see when people were boarding and climbing the stairs there was a pile of strollers and small carryon bags 😳

From what i heard trough my Sennheiser Studio headphones the A 321neo is way more quieter than the previous A 321. A deserted airport in Funchal. What happened ?
