As someone who hates rap music I listened to Igor and absolutely loved it

look i know you aint gonna read this cuz im kinda late, but you NEED to know this, the whole albumn is both a musical AND narritive loop. The albumn begins with Igor's theme, which the first sound is a fuzzy Synth playing E♭, keep this in mind. The story goes like this: Tyler falls in love with a guy who's already in love with a girl, leaving Tyler to feel like an emasculated side-kick, hence, IGOR! After being strung along for a while (PUPPET), Tyler finally has enough (WHAT'S GOOD). He claims to have fallen out of love (I DON'T LOVE YOU ANYMORE) and says goodbye (GONE GONE & THANK YOU), but on the final song he back tracks a bit. He still wants to remain friends (ARE WE STILL FRIENDS?) with the last words being "Can't say goodbye." The album then ends with a Fuzzy synth playing B♭, this note doesn't resolve the song properly, it's MUSICALLY inconclusive. Remember when we said the album started with E♭? "ARE WE STILL FRIENDS" is in F major, and should end on F, but it ends on B♭, the dominant (V) of E♭. IGOR'S THEME (first song) begins on E♭ and IS in E♭, completely the V to I candence (or modulating it depenting on how you want to analyze it.). BASICALLY: When you start the album over, the opening note PROPERLY RESOLVES the UN-RESOLVED ending note, creating a perfect musical loop. This HELPS SO MUCH because if Tyler remains friends with this guy, he'll fall in love again, starting the whole painful cycle over again, because EXACTLY WHAT YOU RUN FROM YOU END UP CHASING!

I get how you feel about not getting the hype for Tyler. I feel the same about playboi carti, I feel like he’s only good at ad-libs. And he has like 2 good songs.

The best part of his album Igor is that it’s supposed to be a lot happening at once. He’s experiencing so much at once (imo) about this person he’s talking about and the fact that Are We Still Friends feeds back into the beginning of the album, Igor’s theme, makes this album 10 times better. Unrequited love hurts, and it happens more than once.

Yeah everytime i introduced Tyler to any of my friends i always recommend Igor, because it literally opened my eyes and how i made tyler my #1 artist for A WHILE. Im so glad you got to listen to this masterpiece
