Currently the President of the Royal Thimphu College, Thakur S Powdyel is an educator by choice, conviction and passion. He served as Bhutan’s Minister of Education from 2008 through 2013. As a committed advocate of GNH and Green Schools, he meditates on themes of holistic development, institutional integrity, national self-respect, and ethical literacy.
His published works include As I Am, So Is My Nation, Right of Vision & Occasional Views, and My Green School, now available in Spanish, Catalan and Vietnamese, and is the principal author of The Light of My Life.
Powdyel is the recipient of the International Gusi Peace Prize for Life-time Contribution to Education (2011), the Global Education Award for Outstanding Contribution to Education (2012) and the Distinguished Service Award (2016)

Very inspiring and an amazing human being. Thank you Thakur Singh daju for sharing your wisdom, so generously. I always remember you giving me a book as a present when we first met during your school excursion to Paro High School back in the late 1980s.
