My dad has this type. Very good generator. It can power a mansion. We do have to change the bet every few months.

Hi Gary... Your just about right you do half it... This is engine is a 5hp with a 5kw gen head, I can squeeze 3.5 kw out of the engine anything more than that its overloaded, slows right down...

Hi Steve not sure if you will read this,but you done a very nice job with restoration I bought a 3/1 a couple of years ago and it needs some work .Just wondering if you documented the rebuild if so would be appreciated if you could upload if not I know you have rebuilt a lot of engines if you do any more could you document it please and upload.Would love to see someone document a rebuild because I haven’t seen any everyone just says here it is rebuilt.Thanks again.

if i remeber ,carmel ,its to do with the compression , start on high compression then after a while screw this out and this sets a lower compression ratio , less fuel consumption etc

Hello Steve, Just a question more re the engine, than gen head. Will the C/S actually start on the lower ratio with screw out, on a warmish day, or if, for example, if it had just been running, then shut down, and had to be restarted ?? Unless I am seeing wrong you have your thumb on the wrong side of the crank handle, same side as fingers in case it kicks back.

I've got that totally wrong , I should have put about 1 Liter per hour on a 3kw load...

Where did you get your alternator and what brand name is it ? I need one for my 6/1.

Hi Steve, I was told that you halve the Hp of the engine for the KW. So an 8hp would give you 4kw of power. Is this a five horse turning a five KW generator ????
