legato is easy, tremolo is easy, but changing strings while doing tremolo, especially when doing odd number of strokes per string... that's where shit gets really hard. at least for me
@JackwoodguitarАй бұрын
That's part of the point of this exercise Once you get this down just change the amount of notes per string make patterns using 5's & 7's etc You could also mix up different groupings on different strins!

Economy picking is what greatly helped me with flipping between notes at an extremely quick pace. It took me maybe a year to get comfortable doing it completely but now its fun to just sit there and flip through notes at a very brisk pace. I don’t think ANY guitarist struggles to play on a single string fast (of that is their goal) . It’s practical picking, as in switching strings when playing and not just one string. I guess this may help someone who just grabbed a guitar so I can’t be too critical

@YOUCANTDOTHATONTELEVISIONАй бұрын
Don't let it overwhelm you at all bro. Most Metallica you can manage with just 2 fingers. I'm positive if you were to just see what they are doing you will see how easy it really is. Websites like songsterr make it easy to play along to a track and see the guitar tab. You can do it bro. Just have fun
@JackwoodguitarАй бұрын
What song do you mean? They tend to use a ton of power chords
@ronsin949027 күн бұрын
I’m curious what song(s) you’re specifically looking to learn. Knowing Metallica there are probably a handful of songs very close in riff style that are a bit easier than what you’re having struggles with that would help you ease the transition a little more. They utilize a lot of variations of the same structural ideas and there’s no shame in mastering something “easier” to anchor your confidence down.
