"To His Coy Mistress" is a Cavalier poem written by the English author and politician Andrew Marvell either during or just before the English Interregnum. It was published posthumously in 1681. This poem is considered one of Marvell's finest and is possibly the best recognised carpe diem poem in English.

Don't criticize this poem or it's poet bcoz it is witty. This poem have a very deep meaning which is beautifully shown by Andrew otherwise it wouldn't have been part of our syllabus for so long period of time till date :)

I am not degrading anyone but the Flood mentioned here is the Great Flood which is referred in the Book of Genesis. God instructed Noah to build an ark for God wanted to destroy the corrupt people by the great flood except the righteous who were in Noah's ark. So the poet wants us to tell us that he will forever love his beloved even 10 years before the Great Flood which is known as the beginning of the time. Note this that the metaphysical poems like Good Morrow, Virtue and this poem - To His Coy Mistress, has reference to devotional theme like the Biblical incidents or legends or spiritual beliefs

Sorry please don't get this wrong but here the Conversion of Jews to Christians means the end of the World , which we as Christians believe. The Great Flood referred in the poem means the beginning of the new world with only the righteous people and the end for the corrupted ones and the conversion of the Jews to Christians means the end of the world as the Jews who do not accept Jesus as the Messiah but when the world will come to an end, they will accept it. So , remember that poets around those times would refer to the Biblical incidents or beliefs or legends.
