Lithium, also known as "white gold", is a critical component in rechargeable batteries, particularly for electric vehicles. As the electric vehicle industry is expected to grow 7x by 2030, this discovery provides India with the opportunity to move up the global supply chain and become a leader in the EV industry. Despite the challenges, such as the absence of cell manufacturing in India and the possibility of lithium batteries being replaced in EVs, India has the potential to exploit its natural resources and become a hub for EV production. Actually there are 2 types of cells: a) Galvanic Cell: Anode is negative and Cathode is positive b) Electrolytic Cell: Anode is positive and Cathode is negative

@@tapeshsharma9254 in galvanic cell anode is oxidized and cathode is reduced. Anode loses electron acts as reducing agent and cathode is oxidizing one.

@Life Aspirant no but actually both cells are under electrochemical reactions or corrosion. In electrochemical battery voltage is supplied not in galvanic one.

Being a Geologist, i am impressed that you mentioned the of UNFC classification, because this part is most important to clarify weather it's 'Measured Resource' or 'Inferred Resource' along with 'Grade of metal'. We can get 1 million tonnes of lithium metal or just a Tonne of lithium from the same 5.9 million tonnes of reserve, it all depends on the grade of metal and often the Reputable Channels and Media houses misunderstood these key difference and writes like "5.9 million tonnes of 'Lithium metal' discovered" rather than saying 'Lithium Resource'.

@@LinuxLuddite well generally, the G2 and G1 stages are done by the State's DGM (Directorate of Geology and Mining) not by GSI. So, J&K DGM would need to require a detailed GSI report and approval of Exploration Permit and Mining Lease from Central Govt. Before starting the G2 and G1 stage.

You have done a great job. Being a Geophysicist of Geological Survey of India I feel proud for the organization. Our organization is dedicated towards the nation building and discovering new ore deposits within the country. You have mentioned the UNFC classification as well as the role of GSI discovering the deposit. I have noticed a few mistakes but those are negligible compared to the quality of thr rest of the video. Lithium ore existence in India was already found in 1998 but it came into light after 26 years, don't know whether it's a governmental failure or lack of demand, but still it's better to be late than never.

RIP for whose who are pointing out a mistake that anode should be positive and cathode should be negative… 🙏 P.S Anode is where Oxidation takes place and in cathode Reduction… so it’s not fixed that anode is always positive (it was in the case of electrolytic cells). Here in the video it’s a electrochemical cell…

Alas, accuracy in Indian videos is not very good. Here is a misleading title " .. inaugurates Delhi Mumbai expressway", when what it being inaugurated is a small segment from Delhi to Dhausa. This kind of exaggeration is very prevalent and riles me up.

Great video, it's extremely high quality research! One minor comment is at 12:39 , in solid state batteries we try to replace liquid electrolyte with a solid electrolyte. That means we can still use lithium ion battery with solid electrolyte (unless more research is done to find other ions like sodium or magnesium that maybe more suitable for solid electrolytes)

Haha. In the alternative energy technology and products your mind would be shock in awe on how much has China put their money and effort to control this realm. Solar, Wind, EV, Battery, Hydrogen. While india just started to talk about producing Hydrogen China already the world's largest producer of Hydrogen especially grey Hydrogen. And also alkaline electrolyzer. India is focusing on green Hydrogen but not yet have any project put in place but China is on the way to mass produce it in coming year.

Being an impact consultant, I'd recently done a feasibility study for EV sector skill training in India. The observation about the climate related challenges was something which was shared with us only by 1 of the 2 dozen industry players we spoke to. The observation in itself was thus very rare. Very good news but I'm a bit tensed as well because of what happened in Joshimath due to minimg and industrial activities. J&K is also a hilly area and that's why it needs to be kept in mind before setting up mines

Kashmir have about 50 Lakh Jammu have more than 50 Lakh Kashmir is Kashmiri language and Muslim majority area Jammu is Dogra Language and Hindu Majority area There is 20 district in J&K Both Jammu and Kashmir have 10 district each. Kashmir area is 15-20k square km Jammu area is atleast 25k square km Jammu is peaceful area. Reasi is in Dogra Language and Hindu Majority Jammu (10 district) province of Jammu and Kashmir UT. There is no Kashmiri living in Reasi area. Maa Vaishno Devi is in Jammu , Reasi. I am Dogra Hindu Indian. I am from Jammu.

India has a lot of EV companies only behind USA and China in EV startups like Ola electric, Ather, Pravaig, Simple energy, Ultraviolette, tork etc. Plus with legacy manufacturers like Tata, Mahindra, Ashok Leyland, TVS, Bajaj etc and battery manufacturers like Exide, Amara Raja India should look to control the entire ecosystem right from extracting raw materials to finished products.

Did you watch the video, he has clearly said china controls everything required to produce batteries and Indian companies are just importing(sure it will be from china) and assembling not producing anything, just having lithium you cannot make batteries, there are more metals and components required and even technologies.

I always think that.... India is an blessed country in terms of soooo manyy think...from good farming lands /rainfall...from having ice cold area to dissert... To grasslands... Such an huge variety of wildlife.....we are almost blessed with everything from the mother earth......but we hardly know how to use all of it efficiently....countries like dubai korea singapore Japan... With little to no things to showcase they are now becoming the face the tourism....and look at us after having soooo muchhh of it... We are hardly banking on it... Same goes with men power china is squeezing every benefit from their large population size we hardly think of all.....so i think no matter what we will get from the womb of mother earth we will never going to use it properly....now I don't know who is In the fault either government are lacking in intentions or the general population.... But it's quite sading...
