Thank you for sharing that , it’s put a smile on my face :-) Depression is a loss of synaptic connections in the structures of the brain that control mood, we loose connections when our neuroplastic ability to grow and maintain connections is overwhelmed by inflammation and other destructive forces. Lithium boosts neuroplasticity and you may also have been deficient of vitamin D, magnesium, B vitamins or omega 3 oils needed to control inflammation. Stress and a poor diet are also major sources of inflammation. To prevent relapsing into depression again in the future:- Follow a supper healthy low inflammation diet, Retrain the way your brain and nervous system respond to stress, to switch off stress responses quickly and reframe stress psychology (I’m starting an online course on how to do this form Oct/Nov 2020); if necessary also have psychotherapy to remodel stressful and traumatic memories and psychology, Keep the above mentioned nutrients topped up especially during periods of change and stress, also take neuroprotective and neuroplasticity boosting remedies like lithium orotate at these times of life. Be Well

I really loved this video. I have been studying for many years now about nutrition and supplements and Amino acids, minerals, vitamins. My wife had depression with no help from the doctors (she was becoming not her self). I use nutrition (Omega-3, B complex high doses, D3, Magnesium, lithium orotate of course... Whey protein with taurine and inositol). She is now very very good and have my wife back (I also use extra Niacinamide high doses) Then she had hashimoto (did the same thing, nutrition and supplements and she is cured) Thanks in advance for the time to read, I hope people to believe and try what your saying because to many information in the Internet is confusing... I am a fire fighter (uneducated man) but read and believe. This things works just find some one to guide you. God bless you and your work

I am watching this after having watched your video on lithium for bipolar. I am a graduate student in psychology who was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 and comorbid ADHD. I am currently on lithium carbonate under the care of a Psychiatrist and have been VERY concerned about potential long-term side effects. Your presentation and approach along with your empathetic personal experience is not only highly informative but also profoundly encouraging and equally helpful!! Thank you!

You're welcome, I don't believe that low-dose lithium orotate on its own is sufficient for most people with bipolar disorder to manage their condition, it certainly would not be enough for me. However, low-dose lithium orotate does deliver therapeutic effects just like regular lithium carbonate but milder and when you combine this with multiple other supplements and therapeutic techniques I believe that many people can manage their bipolar condition, and without any side effects. Managing the condition with out any drugs using only natural therapeutics is a lot more involved, you have to follow a great diet, do some brain training, perfect your sleep, sleep in total darkness, where blue blocking glasses before going to bed and take a handful of supplements with breakfast and dinner, and you have to buy the supplements out of your own pocket because no medical insurance will pay for them. But if you can manage all of that there’s a good chance you can manage your condition. Using these methods I’ve managed to stay completely drug free and symptom free for over a decade now. Even if you have to continue using lithium carbonate and or other mood stabilising drugs you could still combine the rest of the lifestyle treatments to improve your brain and condition. You could improve how effective the drugs are and perhaps the manage with a lower dosage. For some reason I still haven't really caught up since the lockdown! But I'm trying to clear the way for 2023 so I can write my book on bipolar disorder and serialise each chapters with the KZfaq video. Good luck with your healing journey :-)

After trying a plethora of SSRIs and mood stabilizers, I am going to try supplements for my bipolar 2 diagnosis. SSRIs seem to fuel my manic episodes and even after starting that to mental health professionals, they still continue to prescribe them. The bane of my existence is the mania, not nearly as much the depression. I appreciate your videos, this has been a long, hard road and I'm hoping to be able to take better care of myself without sacrificing heart health, dental health (my teeth have suffered due to SSRI induced bruxism), and my personality and emotions being completely flattened. My regimen will be lithium oratate, omega 3, super b supplement, magnesium, CoQ10, vitamin D, and melatonin for the times when I can sleep or feel little desire to. I sure hope this will help keep my brain under control, I appreciate the informative content!

Thank you for your help sir! I’m 18 years old and was struggling with intense mood swings. Got put on Olanzapine which sunk me into an awful depression (I had never experienced depression in my life) which got terribly worse because I tried to quit cold turkey. When I booked a session with you I was skeptical but desperate. Now I’ve followed the supplement program my mood has become happy and stable again within just 2 weeks. I have my life back! I feel like I did when I was 10 years old, before mental health problems.

My youngest son suffers from depression, not as bad now because of supplementation that you have mentioned in the video. I said to my son its not your fault you feel this way, its just the way your brain fires and that we can supplement to help you out. He takes lithium orotate as the main supplement, and this has tremendously helped him control his depression. Thank you for your content, it is very much appreciated. I learned a lot from this video as to the mechanics of how lithium orotate works now. I had a bit of knowledge on Lithium orotate, but this video really gave good clarification. I will be showing my son this video. Thank you again!

I have suffered from crippling depession so I feel for your son. It was SAD...seasonally affective disorder . I wouldnt want to get out if bed in the winter. ( in northern Canada no less...very dark in winter) 8% of people have this disorder to some degree. Try adding in certain supplements like creatine ( boosts ATP in the brain but takes a month or so of high doses) and see if the amino acid agmatine is beneficial. Use it before bed. Agmatine has been shown to cure depression in 3 days in some studies. Get your son off all suger and grains. They wreck the brain and cause massive inflammation. An inflammed brain will never heal. A ketogenic/ carnivore diet cures many mental healrh disorders including depression. It tajes about 2 to 3 minths but the results are spectaculer. Ketones are very anti inflammatory and feed the insulin resistant brain an alternate feul source. It will increase mitochondria by 400% in 3 months becuase the body will adapt to fat and ketone utilization. Brain fog will dissappear. It takes a few weeks to get fat adapted and up to 6 months to fully optimize your metabolism. Give it time. Use MCT oil and supplemental ketone salts for brain energy as you adapt and ramp up the fat burning mitochondria. I take a wide variety of supplements including lithium, omega 3's , methylated b complex, multi minerals including zinc, extra high dose B1 ( thiamine..300 mgs day for ATP and stress relief) magnesium, tri methyl glycine to boost methylation. ( most people have some form of the mthfr gene and need extra methyl doners and methylated b vits) Glycine..10 grams per day...5 before bed to aid sleep. Taurine, ( its just good for you and boosts gaba) high dose D ..10,000 ius per day. Pycnogenol, boswellia extract , ginko , curcumin , and lions mane. Lions mane will actually grow new neurons. It seems like a lot of vits and sups but its nothing compared to being depressed. Exercise is also key to rebooting the system. It will promote bdnf in the brain and result in greater autophagy than fasting for 3 days. It also boosts natural endorphins and switches on genes for self renewal. You can do a full body workout with just a few dumbells. Or just body weight alone. You might have to exercise with your son to help motivate him. Depressed people need extra coaxing. If you live in a northern climate then buy a LUX sun lamp. My depression vanished when I used a high lux sun lamp and got my vits up...especially vit D which plummets in the winter. Even a vigorous exercise session , twice per week can have miraculous results on depression but you must address nutrient deficiencies like magnesium , D, B 's omega 3s , etc and get exposed to sunlight in the morning. A lux lamp is often a good investment. I also use methylene blue...intermittantly. it helps with ATP in the brain. If I can do it anyone can do it. Keep the faith. There is hope.

I love your enthusiasm and intention but before you give specific recommendations you need to understand the health and history of the individual person. The keto diet can be a good choice for some people but people need to know that it can actually cause insulin resistance, yes cause it, that’s not a typo. If excess intramyocellular lipid builds up ( fat in muscle cells) it blocks the insulin receptors causing insulin resistance. You may not even know you have insulin resistance because you rarely test it with carbs but it’s there and every time you slip out of ketosis you really cause harm to your body and brain because you are insulin resistant. There are many versions of the keto diet that do not provide enough polyphenols or fibre and are therefore not optimal for depression treatment. Please don’t recommend the carnivore diet her. It is totally wrong for most people. Devoid of polyphenols and and fibre to develop the microbime gut-brain axis that affects neurotransmitters and butyrate with anti inflammatory and anti depressant effects. There are only a very few rare individuals with extremely compromised gut walls, excessive bacteria translocation of bacteria through their gut walls provoking their immune system and or autoimmunity conditions. As I said I appreciate your intentions, and I’m glad you found solutions to your depression, but you need training and have met the patient to fully understand the consequences of dietary advice.

After studying human sciences at university I trained in naturopathic nutrition first then functional medicine Chinese herbal medicine, acupuncture and h host of add-on healing techniques, I also did years of different types of psychotherapies. I was on a mission fighting a battle against bipolar depression, of all the trainings, the therapy and all the other where’d and wonderful therapies I tried, it was clear most of them didn’t work on the brain and didn’t treat my bipolar. I found the only effective therapies for mental health problems were the supplements (and diet) to rebalance brain chemistry, neuroplasticity and inflammation, good psychotherapy (good luck finding a good therapist) and meditation/brain training exercises to stimulate physical rewiring of the brain. I went on to train as a meditation teacher and cognitive hypnotherapist, this mary seem to diverse but I was homing in on the therapy techniques that can treat mental health problems, almost all naturopathic/functional practitioners avoid treating mental illness, and the trainings haven’t developed techniques in the area so give you nothing. Today I only treat with the nutrition/supplement/functional techniques and brain training/meditation exercises, but I often encourage people to have therapy when it’s apparent they stressful psychology may be overacting the immune inflammatory systems and down-grading brain health.

Hi Dr Smith, I would like to thank you for this explanation. I found your video because I was desperate to get my 3.5 years old autistic son who was extremely anxious to be around other children and scared of everything. He regressed into into autism at 3 years and stopped talking and I watched him for 3.5 months changing into something else unable to help him. He was jumping around with a deep loud voice and couldn't seat or focus for few second. Then I gave him this mineral and not only he can attend preschool ( specialized one) without crying, but his non stop talking in gibberish has reduced, but also he can sit and read his flashcards. There is nothing worse like seeing your child who used to talk be confused and completely change without being able to help. He has a long way to go, but at least he can learn now and I am working on other different aspects of his symptoms. Parents out there when pediatrician says just find a speech therapy, Yes do but there are so many things you can do to reduce the sufferings. In case of my son, there is no way he could have been able to sit in one place leave alone be around strangers. I thought my son was getting crazy especially the only thing I knew about autism was that they don't make eye contact and yet mine make eye contact. So I had to learn really fast. Hopefully, he will be able to function.

Thank you for sharing your positive experiences using low-dose lithium orotate, that's a great result. I would also recommend experimenting with taurine, it has a calming GABA like effect (but it does not desensitise GABA receptor sites), it is mildly anti-inflammatory, it stimulates neurogenesis in the hippocampus which is the brain's primary memory centre, and is overall health for the health of the brain. Also really work on his intestinal bacteria or gut microbiota, you may be able to obtain significant further improvements by developing the health of the microbiota. Use probiotics, a diet rich in prebiotic fermentable fibres and possibly even additional prebiotic supplements. A probiotic called Primadophilus may be particularly appropriate, it contained the bacteria L Reuteri and L Rhamnosus, these bacteria produce GABA in the intestines which can travel at the vagus nerve and enter the brain. GABA is involved in calming the nervous system, learning and sleep. Having seeded these bacteria in the gut you want to feed them to get them to multiply and grow, do this with a high fibre diet including lots of beans and lentils and whole resistant starches such as, sweet potatoes, black rice and firm banana's. You can also buy the prebiotic substances that feed and grow the bacteria in the microbiota, I think there are even available in chewing gummies. He's lucky to have you as a parent :-) good luck with your healing journey…

I recently got diagnosed with a myoclonic jerk in my left elbow and got prescribed with anti-convulsants like levetiracetam and valproic acid. As soon as i took these, i noticed i had no more mood swings, no repeating very negative thoughts, no paranoia, no vicious brutal nightmares, no agoraphobia, very reduced social anxiety and I could focus like I never could before. I was actually trying to get diagnosed for adhd or bipolar disorder because i've been having serious mental problems since i was twelve, but after doing some tests, they said i was fine. So after doing some research as to why anti-convulsants cured most of my mental problems, I bought lithium orotate, since anti-convulsants are also used as mood stabilizers for bipolar people(lithium orotate isn't an anti-convulsant though but does have mood stabilizing effects), and man, it completely gave me my life back. For the first time since I was a kid, i felt normal and got rid of my social anxiety and severe lack of motivation for the first time since i can remember. I actually feel happy which i don't think i've been in decades. Lithium Orotate is very cheap and I only need very little for it to work with almost no horrible side effects like Valproic acid. It's been a life saver.

Hi, Doc! I have a mood disorder. Not sure if bipolar. My main symptom is anxiety. My mood basically revolves around how much of it I have. My main concern is being alone with my thoughts. Thinking too much. Mainly about negative things. I recently got divorced, and you can imagine how much worse my symptoms got. Getting too caught up in a thought about something from the divorce or anything negative in general. A snowball effect of increasing anxiety/tension/stress develops, and its very hard to stop. The only thing that helps my condition is to go to work. A distraction. I have to distract myself long enough to cut the cycle/episode. Thus, my days off are a challenge because I live alone in a small studio apartment. I’m constantly on this emotional rollo coaster. I’m too emotional. I cry easily about things. Exercise does help. But there’s that chemical imbalance. I’m taking the mood stabilizer, lamictal, and it’s really good. Again, the stress and frustration of the divorce took me a step back in my recovery. Lamictal can only do so much. I’m also on Propranolol, Cymbalta and Levothyroxine. The Levo is for my thyroid. I have Graves’ disease. I apologize for this very long boring story. Hi, I can't give you prescription advice regarding supplements and drugs unless I've taken full case history, sorry about that. But when you talk about revolving thoughts in your mind going around like a snowball effect and the only thing that helps is work, this immediately suggests to me overactivity in your default mode network. I have a video and web page on this:www.balancingbrainchemistry.co.uk/peter-smith/163/Is-an-Overactive-Default-Mode-Network-causing-your-Anxiety-and-Depression?.html The default mode network DMN is a rumination circuit that thinks about things that have gone wrong, distressing or anxious, it is supposed to switch on for a while enable us to have a good think about the problem situation but then in a healthy brain it switches off again. In anxious and depressed brains however the DMN remains switched on bombarding our cortex thinking part of our brain with depressing and anxious thoughts and feelings. There's an opposing network called the task positive network. The TPN is engaged when we are actively engaged in performing tasks in other words when you work you engaging your TPN but since you stop it sounds like the DPN ends up dominating the balance between these 2 networks. The good news is that with an intensive programme of meditation brain training you can grow and develop the TPN dampen down overactivity in the DPN and develop the switch between the 2 circuits. There are probably several meditation systems that can help you do this but I developed a meditation style which is a composite of different meditations designed to directly and efficiently activate the TPN. I'm a bit behind schedule but I was planning on starting to teach this in online classes next Sunday. I'm going to take your comment as a motivating driver to push ahead and try to make this happen. You can find information about when the classes start

Another problem with taking meds is that it locks you out of trying potentially healing protocols. For instance seroquels function at night is to knock you out so you sleep and sometimes over sleep. If you wanted to try inducing sleep with a magnetic pulser at a low delta frequency you couldn't because you'd be afraid they would compete. Or might make the drug super strong. If you wanted to use certain strains of marijuana you have to have many hours apart from your meds. If you want to use other therapies you cant .

Lithium strongly stimulates neuroplasticity and sometimes the initial response to this is increased depression. The way I look at it is this is a good sign! 10 mg may be too high a dose to start with, it was for me, so I dropped down to 1 mg and built up to 5mg x 2 over 4 weeks. Keep experimenting at least you can see it’s affecting you.

I'm glad you like my channel. It helps my ranking if you give me a thumbs up :-) I almost always use or at least start with magnesium citrate, it's very good value for money and well absorbed, it's a good general-purpose magnesium. Some people find that it gives them loose bowels and then I might switch over to magnesium glycinate or magnesium taurate. I never use magnesium carbonate or magnesium oxide because they are not well absorbed, they are very cheap but they are not worth it. There's a super expensive type of magnesium called magnesium threonate that people claim is better absorbed into the brain but I don't think it is worth the money, because you can get perfectly good results with the citrates or glycineates. Something very important I forgot to mention in the video is that you should not take any supplements whether it's magnesium or lithium orotate when you are dehydrated, if you have not been well hydrating then start with just drinking a little bit more water increasing every day over about 5 or 6 days and then introduce very small amounts of magnesium and lithium and continue to increase the hydration and the minerals building up over about 2-3 weeks. Good luck with your treatments.

When your body is very deficient in magnesium you can tolerate a lot more than normal. If you have a hidden infection or bacteria that use up some of your stores. Lyme disease or tooth decay. You can take 10 times the usual dose. Once i had heart palpitations every 15 seconds as i must of had some kind of infection that effected my heart so the only thing that halted it was magnesium. I was taking 500 mg of magnesium oxide. The cheap stuff every half hour counting between the palpitations. Every time it w decrease the time between them. I loaded up on it until i was able to keep them from happening about once an hr. Wich is totall relief compared to having heart palpitations every 15 seconds. Those episodes lasted for a few days until the infection settled down. I must of taken 5000 mg that day before i started running to the toilet, lol 🤣 but its worth it

I am currently taking 10mg of escitalopram for anxiety and depression and 1mg of lorazepam daily. Came off of olanzapine due to weight issues. Would like to come off of the benzos as well. I would like to try lithium orotate to help me with my anxiety which is usually triggered by negative or intrusive thoughts, fears and phobias, especially about the future events. Olanzapine was quite good for that but the side effects not so good as I am trying to eat healthy, which was virtually impossible with olanzapine. But I am not sure whether I can take LO with my current prescription drugs, escitalopram and lorazepam. My psychiatrist has never heard of LO and she naturally advised me not to self medicate but she is also not happy I quit the olanzapine. Well, she's not the one gaining the weight akd suffering from slowed metabolism, feeling bloated and full of gas. And now she wants me off the benzo but the tapering schedule she proposed is ridiciolus, 25% per week, she says 6 months is not a very long time of taking them and that I should be just fine. I read some people take LO with antidepressants, not sure about the benzo combination. Any advice would be much appreciated as I don't know who else to ask that I can trust. Many thanks.

Hi Peter, Thank you very much for all your free content. You do a great job. I wonder if you're aware of sleep anxiety/panic attacks. I've had these for many years off and on but particularly bad over the last year. I get fear not being able to fall asleep and this creates a terrible cycle of panic with adrenal surges. It gets so bad I often end up screaming out in terror and desperation. I've tried many things to dampen my fears, 5mg lithium orotate short circuits things a bit as well as D3 and zinc. I also take adaptogens, htp, b6, b1, b3, ashwagandha, you name it, but i don't think they do as much as lithium, zinc. I used to take zolpidem to knock me out but knew I couldn't keep relying on it so stopped. Sometimes I only get 2 to 3 hours a night - it's horrendous. I've tried breathing techniques and meditating, visualisation, but the adrenal surges just jump on me from nowhere when i do try to sleep. I feel like they're separate from me and are attacking me and waiting. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated.

@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments
@NaturalMentalHealthTreatments 2 жыл бұрын
Yes that's right vanadium deficiency may cause issues with blood sugar control, however it looks like at least in some people with bipolar disorder we are not short of vanadium, we have accumulated excess and this contributes to disrupting brain function and facilitating mania. If you have bipolar disorder and blood sugar dysregulation I recommend turning to other things to treat your blood sugar control systems including: supplements, intermittent fasting, eating in coordination with the timing of your central and liver clocks, exercise, having a healthy BMI and of course the right diet including the blood sugar control super foods.

For many years I did a ketogenic diet because at the time it was the best thing I knew to improve my neuroplasticity, but the high fat content caused a buildup of fat inside my muscle cells this is called intramyocellular lipids and this gave me insulin resistance/early stages of type II diabetes. I switched overnight to a plant-based diet (except for the fish oil supplement I still have to take) and it dropped my intramyocellular lipids levels so quickly that it reversed the insulin resistance/type II diabetes in five days! I was happy with this result but concerned as to what will happen to my neuroplasticity. The inherently lower levels of inflammation on the plant-based diet maintained my neuroplasticity :-) and then I increased my flavonoid/polyphenols intake with smoothies which enhanced my neuroplasticity even further. From my own personal experience and the research I've done a plant-based diet has much lower levels of inflammation and can result in superior brain health compared to even the healthy ketogenic diet and certainly than a regular non-plant-based diet.

This is great information! Thank you so much! I have never been diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder but I do suffer from ADHD. I took Lithium for a couple of months and the first few days I just wanted to lounge around and I was more moody or reactive to little things but after the initial few days, I was completely normal. Not normal like before Lithium but normal how I feel normal people without disorders behave. I was very motivated, my focus was great, my energy was up and I was doing things that were good for me (like working out and socializing with friends and family). The problem is that after I ran out I stopped taking it because I thought I was normal and no longer needed it. Needless to say that my symptoms returned after a few weeks and it’s been really hard for me to get back to feeling like I did on Lithium. Does this mean I may be Bipolar as well? I don’t feel like I have symptoms of mania but I do get very angry and sometimes I can stay awake for days cleaning, working or doing something I like with only a couple of hours of sleep in between. I do have many episodes of depression that last for weeks or months. I have had these symptoms of depression since I was a child. I also have symptoms of OCD (being a perfectionist, being afraid of germs/dirt, skin picking, etc) and anxiety, and I just feel like a mess! I have been trying to figure out why Lithium worked for me and not others in my family and also if other supplements and/or stimulants can be taken together with Lithium. This video is so great! Thank you so much for sharing this great information. I truly appreciate it!

I take Abilify 2 mg for bipolar for the last 11 years. It truly gives me a better quality of life Your symptoms sound like bipolar 2. Just my opinion. I was on lithium for 8 years and I regret coming off it. I can’t take it now for some reason. Just doesn’t work any more. All the best

the key is accepting and knowing that you are you who and being comfertable with that and by doing this over time you will heal yourself.. the key is being patient and not fighting yourself and resisting your own self or seeking external sources of "normal". You will see great results. Send love to yourself daily

Hello doc. Can you do a video on amphetamine abuse induced disorders and recovery?

Thanks for the video, I really enjoyed listening to it. I have some lithium orotate that I shipped in from the states and will probably take it for the rest of my life now. I hope it can gain some more traction in the coming years and people are not put off because of the high doses of lithium carbonate used with unfortunately toxic side effects. I have a question which is slightly off topic but of interest to me. What are your opinions and views about the relationship between ego death/reduction and generalised anxiety disorder in particular? I have read quite a bit on how LSD therapy was used with alcoholics back in the 60s which often helped them to stop drinking due to the experience. My understanding is that one of LSD's mechanisms of actions is to reduce activity in the default mode network which appears to contribute to generalised anxiety disorder. I notice there are people now using ketamine for treatment resistant depression which also appears to interact with the default mode network along and give people a better sense of perspective/a step back instead of being wrapped up in it. The same with psilocybin. Just wondered what your thoughts on this topic were? It's really interesting to me. Hope that makes some sense, thanks :-)

Hi, I'm really glad the video makes sense to you, it took me years to discover lithium orotate because like most people all I knew about was high dose lithium carbonate. Years ago I thought lithium was evil poison now I would wear a T-shirt saying I 'heart emoji' My Lithium! I took the psychoactive herb eboga twice to heal my mind. Eboga has these profound effects on bringing up traumatic memories and memories of things that you feel guilty or ashamed of and are still disturbing your psyche in a way that you can process them and release them. I'm aware of research done whereby people took Psilocybin and then with the psilocybin active in their brain they did a therapy session to discuss their traumas and depressed/anxious feelings and belief systems. Reports are of these types of therapies being very effective even just with a single session; there's a suggestion that the drugs disrupt the re-consolidation of the memory of the experience. What routinely happens is memories and feelings come into our conscious mind and then simply reinforced and reconsolidated, with the presence of the drug disrupting normal neurological processing the idea is that the memories are not reconsolidated and stalled again in the same way. I am incredibly interested in this type of work, in using herbal/drug assisted psychotherapy, unfortunately there is hardly any research in this area; they may be research in developing new pharmaceuticals that can do this type of thing specifically for PTSD developed initially by the military but then it should have useful civilian spin-offs. Research into natural products such as psilocybin, aywashca, iboga and even LSD is likely to not be forthcoming because the substances are not patentable and some of them are illegal. I recommend people can try these therapies but it's difficult to find a way to do it in purely therapeutic context, it took me 2 years to set up my eboga experience in a therapeutic way without it being invaded by people who said they were into therapy but really just wanted to get high. These things are powerful especially if you have mental health problems, I have bipolar disorder and at the time I was struggling with suicidal depression so I was in a very different space to somebody who let's say just felt dissatisfied with life and was seeking escapism in getting high. I'm still in the process of experimenting in my practice with a new therapy which is to flood the brain with a stack of antianxiety herbs and remedies and then performing a PTSD exposure treatment; and then start to make some videos about this but no doubt I'll get slammed with some critical comments backlash. If you do experiment with any of these things do a tiny micro dose experiment to start with to make sure that you don't have an allergic reaction, monitor your heart beat. Then do a dose that is half what you intend to take for the therapy session or maybe even 1/3, and if this seems okay and you have the right supportive therapy context, and it's the right time of your life to do this, and of course you not breaking any laws (I have to say that) then you could proceed with caution and optimism :-) PS there are places in the world where you can safely and legally do these things, Holland for example; however as I say my experience was these places were inundated with alternativehigh seekers.

Thanks for the information. Very interesting and a shame that these natural things like psilocybin and ayahuasca are blocked due to conflicts with the pharmaceutical companies and not being patentable. I hope they do make it through eventually in some form, a bit like ketamine making it through approval for the UK recently!

I am really interested to try this out. Thx I am not naturally bipolar but I am coming off kratom. Maybe you have heard from it. A legal plant from south east asia. I used it for years. Its a mild stimulant/weak opioid. I would compare it to tramadol. Now after quitting I experience intense manic mood swings, from feeling really really good to intense depression. Hopefully it will help my brain to find balance :)

Hi, I have trd, severe anxiety and cptsd...I've just finished ketamine infusion therapy 6 doses and am feeling better. My new Dr has been pushing lithium or depakote out to me in the 2 very brief conversations we've had. He doesn't really know me at all and this bothers me. I have lithium o and nac and very much want to do all natural as much as possible. I had bad experiences with psych meds, thus the ketamine trial. I have very high stress and am just really wanting to feel ok and not crash down from the ketamine, but also calm. I meditate and take most of the vitamins you mentioned, plus turmeric. I wasn't sure about ltyrosine and the max again. Thanks so much!!!

Hi great video. You are extremely knowledgeable in this area. I noticed that when I only took inositol my anxiety skyrocketed really bad especially at night when I went to bed. Now I’m on 10mg of elemental lithium orotate 1st thing in the morning and 200mg of gaba and 5mg of pregnenolone at night. Now that I’m better would it be a bad idea to take inositol again? Why did that happen to me? Thanks! 👍

I was first diagnosed with BIPOLAR I at the age of 64. I have suffered from Chronic Fatigue , EPSTEIN-BARR, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Coxasie, and countless other infections in the Herpes family since I turned 50. I am wondering if these infections caused the Bipolar...is not genetic. Love your insight.

So far 64 genes have been associated with bipolar disorder, twin studies have show beyond any doubt that in order to have bipolar i.e. have a mania, we have to have the bipolar genetics for your brain to go into this condition. Another way to say, that is that you could put lots of different people through psychological distress, trauma and inflammation from infections, and only a small handful of people will develop mania or depression; and these (we) people have the genetics such that our brain can produce a manic depressed state. The infections you mention, Epstein-Barr, Rocky, Mountain, spotted fever, Coxsackie, flu, are notorious for producing very strong provocation of the immune system, and the discharge of lots of cytokines, and in your case, it looks like these infections and the inflammation they produced has activated the bipolar jeans that were previously dormant in your system. People can carry a genetic vulnerability to her condition, and either not express it until later in life, or perhaps never express it throughout the duration of their life. We now know that inflammation is the primary, driving force or trigger that switches on the expression of these genes, or switches on the physiological processes that these jeans encode for and then activate the condition. There are now numerous studies showing that inflammatory events from infections can trigger all the major mental health conditions including: schizophrenia, OCD, major recurring depression, and bipolar disorder. Look at in another and more positive way what this new understanding is telling us that we can combat these conditions by eliminating excessive inflammation and keeping it at bay. Surprisingly and disappointingly once the condition has been activated the condition remains a permanent vulnerability. I’ve seen this many times, I had hoped that by eliminating the original source of the inflammation the condition would go back into a fully dormant state. Once switched on however you need to apply continuous preventative treatment in order to control the condition; in other words, the condition doesn’t go away, just because he overcome the apparent after affects of an infection. In my own case, although I had depression from childhood, it was after a serious bout of influenza or flu when I was 13 years old, but I was distinctly remember my mental health, taking a nosedive and I never was the same again. Ten years ago based on this new understanding of neuro-inflammation being the driving force driving bipolar disorder, I tried a new treatment strategy of reducing inflammation in my brain with diet, supplements and additional lifestyle techniques, whilst at the same time boosting my neuroplasticity, and the results have been spectacular. Since adopting this treatment strategy, I have been mania and depression free for over 13 years as long as I maintain the treatment. During this time, I have twice experimented with coming off the treatment regime to see if by some miracle, I have totally cured my bipolar, and on both occasions, the condition returned in the form of hypomania within 5 days to 2 weeks. One significant inflammation has been activated in the brain the microglial cells seem to maintain chronic activation. The treatment strategy I would adopt in your case would be several months of an aggressive, anti inflammation regime of supplements, diet, and other lifestyle measures, the goal is to basically break the back of the chronic inflammation in your brain. I’ve been developing treatment strategies to combat inflammation in the brain for 10 years now, it’s probably going to be half a year or more, but I will be making a long video on the subject of how inflammation underpins drives the big four mental health conditions, and the strategies we can adopt too regain control.

@@NaturalMentalHealthTreatmentsyou brought up fasting and exercise… Do you believe getting into ketosis helps? There’s lots of anecdotal evidence of those who went keto or carnivore helped their bipolar significantly - to the point where they haven’t had episodes in years! And some say it worked within days / weeks. I’m newly diagnosed and tried this out after my 4th or 5th episode of depression (my absolute worst episode) it was the one that made me realize I had several other episodes in past because they always followed months of me feeling amazing and confident… this episode got worse right after I contracted covid in December 2022… I didn’t get better until June 2023 - and it was after a couple of 40 hour fasts followed by strict carnivore diet.
