I saw this episode when I was three or four years old. It had a huge impact on how I treat animals. I remember crying when the moon cried. I haven’t seen it again until today. I’m 67 years old. Didn’t cry this time but what a powerful episode.❤️

I laughed at the first few minutes; then I cried into pools of tears once the bird got shot; once the bird came alive and that Little Audrey learned her lesson, I smiled and still cried with tears of joy; and the fact that the cartoon still leaves an impression on me and gives me the same reaction after each viewing just shows what a great cartoon it is!

This episode of Little Audrey always brings tears to my eyes. Use to watch it on VHS back in the day. I'm 20 now and it still makes me cry. It really captures the emotions of losing your child. I know the baby bird is alive but still. Damn...

Saw this on tiktok and it cut out where it started to rain. I felt absolutely horrible for the bird. I'm so relieved to find out it's alive. I know it's just a cartoon but it carries a heavy message that all life is precious
@TaylorZanderFrancis Жыл бұрын
5:27 Damn, that broke me. Mae Questel really hit that delivery for Audrey there. It's not like she's trying to justify it like in other cartoons like when Porky Pig shot the cat, or other times where Bugs tricks Elmer or something. Audrey isnt just feeling sorry, shes sobbing with genuine remorse! That hits every time.

When I was a little girl this was my very favorite cartoon. What brought me here is I just watched a short on KZfaq of a baby girl named Audrey and she reminded me of this cartoon. Both Audreys are so unforgettable and will remain in my memory forevermore

When I was a little girl in the 90's, before we had cable, Saudi Channel 1 would air old cartoons (because Saudis are old-fashioned and nostalgic--SpaceToon still airs 80's anime!), I remember being very upset that that they didn't take us kids seriously enough to continue the same cartoon after cutting to the news or a commercial break. Can you imagine living your life seeing only that sad, beautifully animated birdy funeral, with the mournful birdsong, and garlands of flowers, and never knowing what happened next? I was a morbid, melancholic child and that just added to it. ^^;;; Glad to finally know the sweet bird lived and Audrey was so, so sorry.

you were a more patient girl than i ever was -- I hated cliffhangers! I would've tried to call the station up to nag them to finish airing the short!

1:28 I love how they had her be the voice of reason for Audrey. Not very common for this era of cartoons unfortunately.
@pinokosthewife Жыл бұрын
I can't find a credit for the role, but she sounds like Lillian Randolph, Mammy Two-Shoes' actress! She also played another mammy character (unfortunately, she was very type-cast and primarily played maids, nannies, and mammy caricatures) in Figaro and Cleo (Disney credited her for that role, so that one, I know it's her!) and she was the voice of reason there too, urging Figaro the cat to make peace with Cleo the fish and stop trying to eat her. “That's the trouble with the world today, folks just won't live and let live…”

Audrey's emotions are so raw, it really hits hard. I feel like making the bird live kind of defeats the point.
@DomesticAnimo11 ай бұрын
Hmmm yes and no. She learned her lesson either way. If the bird died she learned that playing around with the gun is bad. The bird lived and she was remorseful before she found out and went to make things right. So either way the cartoon didnt make a wrong choice in my opinion.

In 1955, Paramount sold their 1929-'50 cartoon library to U.M.&M. TV Corporation, who syndicated them for TV (as well as refilming/blacking out the opening and closing titles, to eliminate all references to Paramount). In 1956, U.M.&M. became National Telefilm Associates...
