NB: Credits for this game go to Didier Chanfray, Frederic Raynal and the music is composed by Philippe Vachey(!) We do not take any credit nor money for, or from Little Big Adventure, - we are just huge fans that love the game and think it deserves a remake :) We do hope though, that chances are getting higher by the works of others or ours, to make a Third Installment by the original developers happen!
-- NOTES ABOUT THE PROGRESS OF THIS REMAKE --
I worked my a** off till this day to present you the new WIP of the LBA 1 Remake. The idea was this last weeks to finish the Magic Ball and some other programming related things. This work is generally done by my brother, but unfortunately his company has been hacked since 2 weeks ago, which meant a lot of overworking for him, which meant no time for LBA, which again, is really a pity! But thankfully I could continue my work, and have still many new things to show you (I think!). I hope you enjoy(ed) the progress in this new video!
See here what is new:
Updates:
- General performance boost (except for some LOD issues which will be fixed soon)
- Added dynamic lighting
- Remodeled geometry on citadel island (outside) and added vegetation.
- New AI: Robot bunny, yellow elephant, flying device, and non-attacking AI having walk animations now.
- Polished elephants and bunny (not Twinsen yet, sorry!)
- Added location: Chez Luc bar.
- Added location: Pharmacy
- Added location: Harbor storage house
- Added doors and their transform animation
- Added more music, dialoque lines and voices
- Added particle effect on white elephant
- Changed bullets to a more original LBA 1 look
- Game Over screen is fixed but not yet visible in this demo.
Still "need to" fixes:
- Camera movement
- Collision
- Improve LOD levels
- Magic ball is in the works, but not finished yet
And A LOT more, obviously.. but we keep at it!! ;)

I'm speechless! I play this game pretty much since it came out and I didn't even know how to read and had to have someone reading (and also translating) everything to me lol I'm still waiting for the LBA 3 to come out... it's just the best game ever. I make sure I play it once every year, never gets old!

Man,.this is simply fantastic. I love to see it! Hope it gets done one day. You could defo get crowd funding for this at this stage. Also, if you ever do finish a playable version. You should consider a tip jug or something similar on a voluntary basis. If you and your bro want to make games or work with computers one day, this could be your resume!

Thanks a lot! :) At this moment we work very hard ourselves on the remake, but there will be a moment that we are going to think about crowdfunding. It has to be said that we don't have any rights of LBA, but maybe they are other ways... and what do you mean with a tip jug?

@@moritzmaisky4989 I just mean that people could give you money on a voluntary basis. Like on Patreon or by PayPal or something. It would not be per download and so would not infringe upon the copywrite laws if I'm not mistaken

@@mezzuna I am now developing a system that would be able to make all islands in a few months, so yes! Difficult thing is the programming, but fortunately we have another programmer on board 🙂

You most definately deserve it! That the goal is not yet reached doesn't mean it won't happen. Right now we are developing our own game, and from there (or after) we still want to make this happen. I talk about this in the later videos. We will release a video of our own game (it will have some simularities with LBA) very soon.

Bud, if you finish this WIP, a lot of big corps will get interested I bet... and I would pay a LOT of money on this .. XBOX could launch this as a indie game free on gamepass initially.. you should contact them as soon as this is finished.. This game has a HUGE fan base worldwide..

Maybe, it will depend on the rights also a bit, I think. At the moment we may proceed the remake by me and my brother but for bigger things like that I will have to ask permission. But for sure we will continue and release a demo the soonest we can 😀

They for some reason are not interested in a remake (maybe because they want this game not to be hyped because of too much information on it).. It talks about planet X approaching and 2 or more alien races coming here frequently.. Ok, full conspiracy here.. But regardless, you should make progress and if you want help with something (Photoshop related or even voices - yep I have a great voice hahah).. You can contact me aswell.. :)

Hello Moritz!! I've just come across your reaaaally impressive work! I mean WOW! So much effort you've put into this game! I am LBA fan. When I was playing LBA2 I was 10, now I am 35 and IMO it's the most magical game I ever played! Your idea loooks so good! I am sure You heard about 2.21 studio that they are trying to reboot LBA? What are your thoughts? Maybe joining their team? Your game looks fantastic but what I think would be really worth adding is more natural look of Twinsen and characters, cars etc. Twinsen looks a little bit like puppet from Unravel and cars look like toys :D Ofcourse it stays faithful to the original but a little bit too sterile and clean?

Thanks a lot Damian! ❤ I think I was also 10 or 11, now almost 38 (I bought LBA 1 when it was just freshly released). So I understand the melancolics so to speak. Yes, you know, it's not in an endstate or anything you see here. Twinsen lacks details, I agree. About 2.21: I am not a graphic designer or anything, but a pianist. I did this in corona time but.. I am now working on all social media to promote our own game. See my last WIP for an explanation. I will not be a member of 2.21 but I can do stuff on my own. I just made the site for our own game and from that point on we continue to crowdfunding and reaching people. You will hear something about it, also on this channel one of this weeks. Since I don't own any rights of LBA (And I had a very thorough conversation about this with Didier Chanfray) there is not much I can do, except running an own company that produces games and from that point on we can talk about LBA again. PS Like many others, people don't seem to look to the later versions I published, did you see anything of that? Twinsen has changed a lot since, not perfect, but definately better 🙂 About Twinsen Reboot, sorry I forgot: I don't know what to think of it, since there is no gameplay released. But.. the drawings I saw I didn't like at all. Totally wrong style, has nothing to do with LBA. But let's see some gameplay first, and then we will see.

It's very cool, the improvements are noticable and awesome. Personally I'd probably drop the text scrolling. It's a really cool effect having it come out almost as it's being spoken, however I just think it makes it a little hard to read. Additionally it's garbage truck, not carbage truck. Hit me up on discord if you want me to check your translations, it can't be easy doing something in a language that isn't native to you. If you need help with voice acting I'm sure you'll find people in the discord more than willing to help too. Truly great work

Thanks a lot! 😀 Yes, there are a few things here and there in this demo, wrong spelling, which is just stupid from my side, but I wanted to push myself to bring this before 2021. English is not my native language, but because there are so many aspects, except for programming (at least most of it), I tend to forget things, but they surely will be corrected in the end, obviously! Personally I still love the text scrolling, but texts could be better reorganised, I agree on that. I will certainly ask people if we have a demo, for the final voices. No, or not yet at least, but maybe in the future! :) I first want to put a demo of it before anything else. We will try it in two months, to make something playable I mean. Because it's already a lot of work, and a website would be more work. It would mean less time left if I would have to maintain a website, which would mean less time for the actual work. I use all my free time for it, so that is why.

Dank je! 🙂 En ja, zeker wel, maar de avondklok gooit veel roet in het eten. Mijn broer en ik kunnen hierdoor bijna niet bij elkaar komen, daarnaast is zijn bedrijf drie maanden geleden gehackt wat ook nog eens voor overwerk zorgt, en mijn laptop had een probleem met de grafische kaart, inmiddels wel weer een nieuwe (laptop), gelukkig. Al met al niet zo'n gunstige tijd voor dit project, maar er blijft zeker aan gewerkt worden, en voorlopig zal dat zo blijven. Wellicht wordt er ook nog een crowdfunding campagne opgestart, mal Sehen..

those subtitles are useless, you're supposed to be able to read them along with the voice, but they're moving everywhere making them impossible to read
