This thing is going to be awesome! Two vehicles come to mind. Nash Hole and a 1971 Gremlin diesel rat rod "Grem-Peeper". The Gremlin was at Rat City Rukkus and is from Arizona I believe. Nash Hole was the winner of the Hot Wheels Ledged tour.

Willy's overland makes adapters for a Kubota 03 series diesel. You could make it 4 wheel drive with all old jeep running gear .

I think a 4 cylinder diesel engine would be cool & that way you can be the guinea pig for my 88 Dodge Raider that I've been wanting to switch to diesel power. Thank you for sharing a really cool project & the good times you have working together.

Keep the hood as a lid above the engine so you don't have to get too fancy with the motor. Stretch the hood and add a piano hinge down the middle so you can open it from either side. Cut the front section of the fenders to wrap over the tires for headlights, or use the headlight bucket and weld to sides of the radiator frame so you won't have to source replacements. Don't trash them as the guy said. Hahaha! If you chop it you will miss the space and with a diesel engine in front of you, you will need lots of breathing room. I think its gonna be so cool!

Barry Gilgen you said you read the comments so just maybe this will help you someday down the road, adventures made from scratch, is basically a junk yard out of Hutchinson Kansas, they buy and sell lots of old farm trucks, all years, the 30,s on up, which a lot like you work with, they sell just cabs or the whole truck, he has a u-tube video called adventures mad from scratch. he might have or come across one that you might be interested in. so check him out not sure if you are running out of projects in Indiana or not but Kansas colorado and nebraska still have a lot, this guy will sell cabs or parts like fenders motors, trim emblems all kinds of stuff, hope he might help you out. like your videos you do cool stuff great ideas keep it up.

You were getting in my area where you picked up the Crosley. That should make a pretty cool ride. I'm more into the restoration end of things. Been painting for a lot of years. Even built and raced a few drag cars.

i've got a 4or 5 speed clark trasmission that was on a small 4 cyl cat deisel same motor as in a 920 loader, we repurposed the engine in a rock crusher, but I still have the clutch assm and bell housing . Thought I might put it in a pickup one day ,but I could let it go!!!

I've recently had a bit of a play with A Hyundi/Kia Diesel [2.2 L (D4EB)] We put one in a Boat and its performance was stuning.The other we put into a Suzuki Vitara which really lit it up..The next might be going into a model A sedan..They rev well, weight is good, common rail diesel, turbo is too small though, and they have a Bosch Engine management system which was easy to deal with..with a twin turbo and decent fuel system they would certainly light up..

I would put a 12 valve Cummins diesel out of a dodge dually extended cab backed up with a 6 speed transmission with dualys on the rear

It definitely has potential as a rat rod I took a 66 mgb and stretched the front end over three feet and put a Chevy straight 6 in it

Cory and Hanna, a T-bucket chassis will fit right under that Crosley, you can get a chassis from SPIRIT CARS or SPEEDWAY their not that expensive and all the parts you need to get it done are available as a kit or individually as you go. Get a SPEEDWAY catalog and you'll see.

The old man had one he use to putt around in for a while. Him and his buddy had a '41Willis pickup they ran in C/Gas, and they bounced around the idea of stretching the front out on the Crosley and building an A/Altered out of it, kinda open wheelish on the order of the wheelbase you have mocked up. His buddy ended up pulling the motor and building a pretty cool garden tractor out of it, and I think they got rid of the body because it was going to be big money to go from C/Gas to A/Altered. I think you should look for a small diesel out of like a light plant or compressor. Those things run 8hrs+ on 5 gal. of diesel. They are only about 50hp, but the original engine would have been pressed to be that much. And, the diesel would have three times more torque to pull that little rig around. Put a 5 speed behind it with a Dana 40, and Mustang 2 front end. Would be easy enough to bag and should handle decent too.

SO Much fun!!!!!

Look for a Volkswagen TDI. plenty of power for that little car and they are super reliable and easy to come by.

The minute I saw what you were looking at, I "knew" there was no way it would ever be restored or original (I could almost sense the disappointment of the seller when he kept suggesting original). That is not your style at all!! Admittedly, Y'All do things I would never even remotely consider. But, it not only works for you, everything works!! With the exception of Hannah's windshield wipers!!!! (If Hanna's gotta have an owie, that's the right finger to have one on!!) Please keep the videos coming.
