The reason why you see me wearing my Arsenal top a lot when I am out playing on a public piano is because whenever I come out to watch Arsenal play at home at the Emirate Stadium, I always come and play at St Pancras. Sometimes it's before the match, sometimes after depending on the time. This time, it's a special one, as it was the last game of the season - Arsenal playing Everton at home.
What's brilliant is that recently, there was a new song by @louis_dunford called The Angel that has pretty much become the new anthem for Arsenal. The main chorus starts North London Forever - and it's the chorus that is played and sung in the stadium. It was first played in the previous home game (against Leeds) and now is definitely linked to Arsenal forever. I first heard it 2 weeks ago, and I have been a little obsessed by it! I had to create my piano cover of it, and knew I had to have it ready for the last game of the season. Unless you are an Arsenal fan, you probably won't recognise it, but if you are - you definitely will. Love that they little girl appreciated the music, and was free to dance away!
If you listen to the song, it talks about living and growing up in North London and how the place and building may change, but the people is what makes it special. I did not grow up in Islington (where Arsenal is based), but grandparents lived there, and my dad grew up there. They lived in Caledonian Road - which the song includes (well, The Cally which is also on the road), and my dad actually went to school less than a mile away from the Arsenal stadium. I know I don't have that connection like my dad does to the place and the song, but when you hear it sung in the stadium, you get goosebumps on top of your goosebumps.
