Even though this is pretty old by now, it’s incredibly admirable that this father is so well educated with his snake and makes sure the snake and his daughter are both safe with each other. He completely respects the snake and taught her how to do the same. At the same time, this cements the fact that when she grows up she won’t find snakes terrifying in the slightest. Most people do not get to experience this type of bond with a snake. They learn to fear them and I’m so proud of this father and his daughter for the love they have of Cher.

It's a cold blooded solitary predator. In the wild it would spend it's entire life from egg to grave alone, hunting things smaller than it and fighting or fleeing from things bigger than it. Well that brings up an interesting question. Is a well socialized captive bred python like this still considered a “wild animal” or would it be considered a “domesticated animal” like dogs or cats? I’d posit that it’s neither. That instead it is a “tamed” animal. Not truly “wild” and not really “domesticated” but a bit in between. The snake trusts it’s owners and lives comfortably with them. Snakes are pretty simple creatures. When their needs are met and they aren’t under any stress, they can be quite lovely pets depending on the species and individual.

@@Vaillle There is a difference between tamed and trained. Domesticated animals were bred for thousands of years to be human companions. Literal generations of picking the friendliest of the litter and breeding them together. Dogs and (to a lesser extent) cats were evolved to like humans. When I was younger, my family actually bred and sold reptiles. We used to have hundreds of different snakes, lizards and turtles. My brothers and I were taught at a very young age which snakes we could handle by ourselves and which were off limits unless my Dad was around. We learned to respect all the animals and never had one incident ever... The key to being responsible with snakes is handling them every day so that they are used to humans, be careful handling them when they are shedding because theyre basically blind at that point, and ALWAYS wash your hands after handling their food.

This is a true story about a woman who lived in India in the middle ages and had a pet snake, python, which she loved so much. The snake was 4 metres long and looked healthy . However, one day her pet snake just stopped eating . This lack of appetite in the snake continued over a few weeks.. The desperate woman tried everything. Nothing worked. Finally woman took her loving pet to the vet as a last resort. The vet listened to the woman carefully and asked, Does your snake sleep with you at night, wrap around you closely and spread out its length?" The woman was surprised and said yes yes he does, everyday. And it makes me so sad because I cannot help him. Then the vet said something shocking and most unexpected "madam your snake is not sick, he is just preparing to eat you. Every time he is creeping and hugging you, wrapping around your body , it is sizing you up. And he is preparing him self for the attack , and yes , he doesn't eat in order to have enough space to digest you easily"

Rule of thumb for most responsible owners of large snakes is over 8' is when you should have a spotter near by. Over 10' should have two people present with the snake any time you are interacting with it (feeding, cleaning, or handling). The snake looks "thin" because a lot of keepers tend to over condition the snakes and cause obesity. The snakes overall condition isn't concerning, especially because there isn't a peak where the outline of the spine is visible. Burms and retics are semi arboreal and shouldn't have the more rounded shape of say a ball python.

@saxon1177 incorrect again. This is a captive bred domesticated snake that has been bred from genaration for calm and docile snakes, just like dogs were. All animals are unpredictable. Your knowledge is so small.

I had a 16-foot albino burmese python, she was wider than this one but these happen to be the most docile of pythons. extremely docile and they seem to enjoy our body heat so they will come around you and lay on you and stuff. they're great.

@saxon1177 and social pet dogs kill on average around 3/5 people every month in the usa alone.they kill in seconds right in front of people. No pet constrictor has ever killed whilst supervised. Your misinformation is outrageous. 🤣😂🤣😆

@@saxon1177 Those incidents are extremely rare, especially when compared to the number of deaths caused by other domestic animals. You’re far more likely to be injured or killed by a cow, horse, or dog. If you wouldn’t mind the girl being around one of those animals, then you shouldn’t complain about this video.

I admire the connection the child and Cher have 💝 and the fact that Dad keeps a close watch on their interactions. When Emi is older and can feed Cher, that will cement the bond even deeper between them. My ball python and I have a very tight connection and others seem to think we are telepathically connected as well. I've had her for over 8 years and I have her complete trust. That's important when you are caring for such an amazing creature that may outlive you 💝
