Today I made a video update in case you prefer that to all the typing : ) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qJymlq5-t7PZfXU.html The originally planted fig tree did not survive the extreme summer or the unexpected back to back freezes. When I checked the tree at the end of our winter, it turned out that the roots were nonexistent and all that was left were the stems from the former tree. At the beginning of this Spring we found a new fig tree to plant into the former home of the prior fig tree and so far the new fig tree seems to be quite happy in its new home! I believe that if we can get a fig tree through one extreme summer and winter, we will have a lifelong fruiting tree. We have another fig tree in the opposite corner of the yard and although the new extreme summers and winter freezes took a toll on the original growth, the root system was so strong that the large fig tree came back almost as a new tree perhaps better prepared for the weather.
