@@nicoleleger2407but Manos was not innocent! Takis said it several times that it was his own fault. Manos started the fight and the others were probably fed up with him.

Has nothing to do with the amount of dogs in the shelter as they are always in smaller groups. This happened also when Takis had just 250 dogs.

@@skippynoah your right about that, we think of dogs in a different way but they are animals and do animal things. Someone will always comment negatively about the amount of dogs in his shelter but i dont see that person trying to help every dog in Greece. Now with this mayor Takis will have a bigger burden. Thanks for sticking up for him, he needs our support.

Friends is too simplistic a term for the complexities of a pack, there are a few reasons why dogs will turn on another pack member, it could be over dominance or it could be due to a weaker pack member or if they sense illness. We might have domesticated canines but when dogs are in a pack the nature can still be strong, if you have a weak/ill pack member not only are they taking resources but also they weaken the pack... Only the strong survive. Takis does an amazing job at finding and putting dogs together but changes happen within a pack over time, be it age, ills or introducing other dogs or dominance issues and with so many dogs things like this are bound to happen from time to time.

@@kalicat9492 Yes they are & I'm grateful to each & every one. However nothing can replace Takis's experience with these dogs. He knows the difference between: OMG I better RUN or a dog can be killed or just exuberant play.💖🤘

@@kalicat9492 the workers are not in the shelter 24/7 and the volunteers are young girls. It would not be safe or wise for any of them to attempt to break up a dog fight.

once one dog starts, others join in, it's an unfortunate pack mentality I have seen before and causes much harm. I am so sorry. Some canine instinct that overrides friendship. it can happen with their known human contacts as well. so hard.

The rules of a pack are very hard to figure out. Only 5 days ago there was a video where Moe was happy with Curly, Larry, Ginger, Julia, Nikos and Black. A play can get out of hand, dogs get excited and even over excited and the next step is an attack…..

So true, pack rules. We tend to forget that they are animals! Do you remember when Takis explained why he had to buy container and start spending nights in the shelter, years ago? I never forgot it - he would have returned in the shelter from his aptm in the morning and found 7 or 8 dead dogs, they fought each other to the death! Manos and Mo were lucky that Takis reacted on time!

@@lidijabirsa7768 It was before my time when he bought a small caravan so he could stay in the shelter at night for that reason. Because before that he still lived in an apartment in the city and when he came in the shelter in the morning sometimes dogs were killed in the night. Only a few years later company donated the container room. The company left the island and in return they asked Takis to take in the 2 dogs that lived on their premises. That was big Jack and the other one I forgot.
