Goof alert: I join the multitudes who have butchered Mr Sienkiewicz’s name. I’ve been schooled now that it is ‘Sin-Kev-itch’

Along with the two Sunday Press editions shown earlier, Dream Another Dream comprises the three biggest, and possibly most beautiful, comics I own.

This shows the power of releasing works to the public domain. Wondrously new works can now be derived.

I've seen some good takes even with in-copyright characters, but the less flattering' adaptations are definitely not common while a character is not in the public domain!

That "Return to Slumberland" IDW series was actually my introduction to Little Nemo. It's great!

Thanks for doing these Winsor McCay episodes! I'm working on a Little Nemo video game project drawn to look like the original comics so your videos have been super helpful. Cheers!

I love these outstanding Nemo vids on your channel! I was asked to color a few pages of the magnificent Dream Another Dream book and it's honestly a highlight of my career. The finished object ended up being just beautiful.

If I remember right, Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neill weave in multiple homages and references (via both form and content) to Little Nemo throughout their LOEG books.

Arunava Banerjee I think I vaguely remember Little Nemo in the Blazing World but my age seems to be taking a toll on my memory otherwise. Time for a reread!

😁! Have you seen the McCay Nemo books in my other video these are homages to?
@athenassigil58204 жыл бұрын
@@ftloc Yes! I watched that one first, then this one. I also saw the 2018 comic con one you did, that looked fun and cool! Back to Windsor Mackay, thing is, I found out about his art in the early 80s in a now defunct title by marvel called Epic and then, years later, in the early issues of Sandman. That is, the young character who was living in horrid conditions at his grandparents basement, but when he'd sleep, he'd have adventures in Dreamland. It was then that I realized Gaiman was doing a homage to Little Nemo. Those original books were so whimsical and the art so detailed. I too think Mackay was a genius, but then seeing these books, wow! It's quite touching that modern artists still pay homage to the old master!

Yes, they’re gorgeous. I got one of the Sunday Press Nemo books from Amazon, one from Infibeam, many many years ago. This Locust Moon book I got on eBay but had to wait for months before someone could cart it over from the US for me

Unfortunately they oversized edition, seems to be sold out. And think it's already at sometime, unavailable from Book Depository and other major sellers in Europe. Any suggestions?
@ftloc5 жыл бұрын
Oh that’s a pity! It still seemed easily available, albeit expensive, about a year ago when I last checked. Have you tried Locust Moon’s website and eBay? I got my copy on eBay, still in shrink wrap, so it’s always worth keeping an eye out there and seeing what pops up!

I know, right? Making this video gave me the chance to take this down and read through it again - as you can imagine, that doesn’t happen as often as it does for most other books! 😀

sort out the light on the pages ...can,t see the pictures ...thankyou
@ftloc4 жыл бұрын
Yeah the glossy pages of the Shanower/Rodriguez books were quite a problem - I guess I was just learning then and was setting up the lights only for the large, muted and matte-paper Locust Moon book that I show second. Hopefully my more recent videos don't have such issues as nowadays I change the lights and camera settings when I change books 😁!
