Unfortunately in my area (Colorado USA), even using Truecar I can only find this for about $58k or higher. And for a 4cyl with 300hp...That's a yikes. Rather save 5k and go with a G70. Cadillac same issue though. CT4-V's going for 60-65k, which is wiiiiiild.

G70 is shit mechanically . all suspension is stamped steel . You're better off going with the 2022 audi S3, just launched. all aluminium suspension set up . You're better off going with a m240i 2022. Bmw has a inline-6 382hp ( although it dynos at 412hp so much estimate it makes 450 at the crank. ITs a bmw thing , they always underrate their engines on paper for emissions.

@@Travis73917 2022 Rs3 5cyliinder turbo > A45s . 5 cylinder over a 4 cylinder all day , and the 2022 rs3 is quicker . Way quicker . People getting 3.4-3.5 seconds 0-60 with the RS3 , which is almost supercar territory. Also , if im staying in a close price range as the A35 , im going with a M240i . inline-6 cylinder turbo over a 4 cylinder turbo

I have a 2019 A35 AMG Hatch. Love it. In the real world rapid and faster than you really need. Pops and bang available for the childish. Interior way beyond the competition. I now have a real issue, what to replace it with? A45s might be only choice?

The performance seats are actually better believe it or not i got them on my 45 and i love them! You can also inflate/deflate lumbar and side bolsters.

The word coupe, as applied to motor vehicles, has become so elastic in its application as to be vacuous. When someone refers to something as a coupe I still don't know how it's constructed until I see it.

Don´t let them catch you with their stupid marketing, imo the old categorization never changed. If something has more than 2 doors, it´s a sedan. Just some frameless windows don´t make it a coupe suddenly.

@@Schmitzelhaus Do you consider an Audi A5 Sportback a sedan, coupe, hatchback or do you consider a Sportback it's own new classification? I bought one this year and I've always considered it a sedan with a hatch but with the amount of people telling me it looks like a "sports car" I'm starting to see why some might put it in the ballpark of a coupe.

@@evanneiswanger I agree. I consider it a 4 door hatch. However, in situations when I have to describe how it looks, I say "hatch-sedan" since it still slopes down in the back. When I describe it as a 4 door hatch, some people tend to think I'm describing something that looks like a GTI, Crosstrek or CT 200h. And it doesn't even remotely look like anyone of those. It's just gotten too ridiculous with all the categorizations these days.

@@CP-vg4vy true, i also like rwd in pretty much every scenario more than fwd but there ARE fwd chasis that handle pretty good. Honda Civic Type R and Renault Megane RS Trophy are two others that come to Mind.

i have the A35 and in 18 months of daily driving i've never ever thought "damn this FWD based AWD system sucks". always grips on public roads, which is good enough for me. my $.02

Second time watching this video and I gotta tell you, I was at an Audi dealer looking at an S3. I had watched this video the night before and was already negotiating the S3 and had my checkbook in hand. Because of this video I just took a look at the CLA 35 across the street at Downtown LA Mercedes. I bought a Piano Black, loaded CLA 35. No Audi for me. You guys sold a car. No, really.

Personally the 235i looks so much nicer, then the S3, then the CLA35 $66190 and no heated steering wheel...Seriously!!!! Since you pointed out the rear bumper thingys :) Thats first thing I see everytime I look at this car. Great review!

Super cool car for the price, especially if you want to fly under the radar a but more than getting a Cla 45. In my opinion all AMG’s are real AMG’s it’s just that some are more hardcore than others.

this isnt about opinions. Its an objective fact. AMG = Handmade Engine by AMG. The Cla doesnt have a handmade Engine by amg but just the cla250 engine with a tune. So its not a AMG. Just as an M440/M240i isnt a real M-Car or an Audi S3/S4/s6 and so on isnt a real audi RS Car.

1:24 Technically? No, not at all. 4 doors makes it a _sedan_ . Having 4 doors is the very _definition_ of a sedan. Having 2 doors is the very definition of a coupe. _That's_ the bright line that distinguishes the two, guys - not some swoopy roof line primarily dictated by ever more slippery aerodynamic requirements.

My gf has regular CLA 250 2020, and the cornering is so bad with understeer almost got in accident twice overdoing it on the street... I hope this AMG 35 is much better than that.

Yeah. I own Veloster N, and regular veloster, They both are much more confident in cornering. I was trying to drive it like I drive the N, and it was not a good idea.

@@greef_karga6402 @Hayden Interesting. I've never driven either CLA or a Veloster -- not really a sports "coupe" guy -- but it does seem to me that journos generally tout CLAs as sharp-handling cars. Why do you think that is?

@@MLHunt I'm not sure. I'm not an expert, but maybe it's cause I'm driving veloster N, and comparing to it in corners I just feel much more confident in N. I personally don't enjoy driving CLA other than nice interior, comfortable drive. But even comparing regular veloster 2012 vs CLA 250 non AMG trim, I think regular veloster still does much better cornering than CLA 250. Idk how this AMG 35 trim feels though.

@@Hayden-se9hy the 35 handles completely different and it‘s actually really nice, but still not oversteering. It‘s not just a bigger engine, but the whole suspension and rigidity have been redone. It feels much better. It also depends a lot on tires and I would never recommend a FWD Merc. Even the haldex 4wd isn‘t too great but the small AMGs can work with it. The real Merc experience begins with the C Class, the cla is just a cheaper way to get in the merc world and only really fun as AMG, especially the 45s is insane. The base CLAs are just not made for performance driving so it‘s no wonder you were disappointed by it if that‘s what you want.

See that it has secret buttholes all over the dash(lol jk) plus piano black to smudge up while trying to navigate the menus. See that it doesn't even have cooled seats in a luxury car, and ask myself. "Do I really want to spend that much on a car? I mean...it's probably really fun to drive. It'll probably hurt my credit score just to test drive this thing. Nah, I'll just go get the G70 AWD. "

Its not fair. Golf infotainment is horrible compare to this spacecraft. The exterior look is good on the golf but this cla is almost the best looking car. Especially the 45 (10k more expensive). Plus you get the badge. The badge come with respect, the wow effect and the 🐱 effect if you know what i mean 😜. Enthusiasts will look at the golf and be like oh nice car. Cla will give you the (oh shitttt that’s you car) from everybody even rich people.

OBD app can modify DRL lights so u can set them always on (with light selector in off) so in evening the DRLs stay on without the auto lights coming on.

The problem with this low displacement high power turbo engines is that they did not get old. The high compression kills gaskets and the turbos are often done after 80k miles.

Depends on how it's built. Building methods and materials have gotten a lot better over the years. We've had the tech for 300+hp 2L engines for a long time now, as Mitsubishi and others have proved. There's a reason companies have waited until now to build them in significant numbers.

If I'm spending more than $50k US on a luxury performance sedans I'd prefer it to RWD based rather than FWD. I'd choose the Alfa Romeo Giulia.

awesome car... I think I would just make the sacrifice and get the a45 over the a35..cause the price difference isn't too far apart .. a lot of cars have equal or better performance to the a35 for a lot less money the a35 needs more power and less weight imo it has almost equal performance to a Veloster N which is 20k cheaper... the a45 is also expensive but its way more worth it imo

This is one of those cars that makes way more sense in Europe than it does in America. In Europe, the smol size with big go is a huge plus on their roads, ditto the high fuel economy relative to cars with equivalent performance but larger engines. And the ridiculous cost for such a small car? Every car in Europe is expensive. The cost issue for Europeans is negligible to nonexistent, I bet.
