Pigeon racing is as unique as it is deceiving. Despite their simple appearance, pigeons and their homing instincts are extremely complex. And while the sport is about hard work and respect, there is one truly universal desire that drives racing pigeons - the need for a home.
Little Ripper - Fast Feathered and Fearless follows a cast of passionate and often eccentric characters across the globe on their own quest to find such an elusive, magical place. Breeding and racing pigeons is a life commitment, for not only the pigeon fancier but for their entire family. Every aspect of a fancier’s life revolves around their love, dedication and passion for pigeons. And just like the amazing physical journey of homing pigeons, the emotional journey of the fancier show the lengths to which we will go to find our place in the world.
Fast, Feathered and Fearless shines a light on a sport many would consider an anachronistic curiosity. Pigeon legend John Van Beers explains how pigeon racing is all based on the birds’ desire to belong. Through beautifully animated sequences and intimate interviews, we see the rigorous training, uncanny navigation, perilous hazards and clocking procedures that are unique to the sport.
Since its inception in Belgium as a humble working man’s pursuit, pigeon sport now unites people from different cultures and backgrounds around the world. The breadth and global scope of pigeon racing has given rise to a lucrative international industry that remains unknown to most. For those who have devoted their lives to the sport, as well as the uninitiated, Fast, Feathered and Fearless will bring the world of pigeon racing home.
Please note: We apologise for the ads on these videos, we have had some disgusting comments about ads on this video. i havebeen raising pigeons by myself for 13 years. I have tried to get into the clubs and none of the old boys want to associate with me. I am not in a family that has done this, I got into it because I used to go help the feral flocks with thread foot and other ailments. One afternoon I found a beautiful lost " wedding release" homing pigeon. He was beautiful, pure white and I named him King. I still have birds from that lineage. big gorgeous fast beauties. A pigeon fancier will never stop. a true pigeon fancier is in it for life.

Where are you from? Have you heard of one loft racing. Some have several races where one can win money. It seems to be where the sport is heading. Last club I was in was 1 1/2 hours away and I was well off the line of flight.

Absolutely wonderful film. As a pigeon rescuer I really enjoyed watching the emotions of the pigeons owners and the care of the birds. Its not all about the money, its about the love of the birds. I hate seeing them being tossed away because they come home late or get lost. Thank you

@@jessykarhutton4876 I understeand your emotions. I also think that love for the birds, hapiness and satisfaction we take from our sport and from breeding our pigeons is the most important and I dont like "fanciers" who cares only about results, breed over 100 youngsters a year and then leaving something about 30/40 for yearlings. People like these dont understeand and feel the nature of our passion however I find conversation superior to banning.

@@manikinskywalker766 thank you very very much for getting back to me. When I was a child my dad used to take me fishing at a fishing club I'm still a member of myself. I bought the club a great big trophy which they have a memorial match for my dad each year . I have paid money to the club for the next ten years to give to the winners. So my dad's name never gets forgotten at the fishing club. . You say it's been 15 years since you lost your dad, but all the memories are right now aren't they. We are very lucky we share nice memories of our dad's. Did your dad tell you stories from when he was a boy . And when you hear them we think wow really dad.. life changes so so much in my dad's like . They had nothing like most . And just last year he had a 55 inch tv about 1 cm width. Imagine anyone telling your dad about the future like today he would think they was mad. We keep all the stories and memories for ever ♥️. Thank you so much, never forget the memories of our dad's.

That was absolutely fantastic I loved every bit of it before and after, I once had an opportunity to take 114 birds of a lifelong racer he had bad case of dust VS lung = pigeonlung disaster and trouble breathing, I had no idea about how to care or knowledge of what to do, I had fancy pigeons of my own and After one week I open the door to the shed I had 114 bird's and in about 2 minutes they were all gone! Haha, the owner called me the next morning telling me " 114 birds entered over the counter, there having a bath" Haha! I was speechless my first memory and experience with the racers, Awesome video/doc/show , Now gonna go buy a pair after 10.years! And this video.

I had a few homers gave to me a year ago. I have successfully bred and trained my first kit. I have tried to get some of my friends into breeding and possibly racing. It seems like everywhere we look for helpful information about good breeds and how to train we are met with secrecy or get Miss information. Between this hurdle and the price of a decent breeding pair is enough to keep young kids coming up from getting into the sport. Hopefully the sport will become more widespread and affordable here in the U.S. soon. Great documentary!

In the time of "CORONAVIRUS WORLD WAR - 3" in 2020 when your own life is at the hands of a invisible pandemic it's cinema and documentaries that breaks all barriers and provides solace and entertainment in the confines of home.As a lifelong sports enthusiast and a silver jubilee pathological gambler on horse racing decided to understand the sport of pigeon racing.Picked the right documentary and found this video extremely educating to a novice from Mumbai in India where pigeon racing does exist in a few city's.. Surprised that the Royal Family of England is also actively involved in "Pigeon Racing" as i was under the impression they only raced horses. In the end was happy to note that among the 1200 stolen pigeons one of the prized stolen pigeon flew back 1300 miles from Rumania to its home loft in England and it's veteran owner, Ken Hines in England. Interesting and almost unbelievable fact.one of my favourite boxer's Mike.Tyson is a pigeon fancier and If "PIGEON RACING" existed in Mumbai i would definitely have been a active player in this bird sport. Ahoy !

Honestly same, those pigeon families were apart of his family for 50 years and someone stole that from him, he is now to old to really make that kind of a bond with your pigeons again so they really are not replaceable, it’s so sad especially since now he doesn’t have those birds to pass on to his grandkids which would make it even more special
