Today we take a ride up Little Tujunga Canyon Road in Sylmar, California. We continue onto Sands Canyon Road out to Santa Clarita, California. This is a condensed version of the full ride that will be posted on ridewithtully.com on May 31st.

Great bike, I bought my first bike 2018 Z650 two months ago, unfortunately last week during the turn I drove onto some kind of leak, and lowsided my baby, slipped right underneath me, speed was about 20 mph, sliders did their job, but bike hit the curb, cracked radiator, dented tank, bent handlebar, and damaged plastics, very unfortunate, considering that all the possible damage without that curb would be sliders. Getting it checked out right now to make sure there’s no hidden damage like damaged forks, or engine. Hopefully I’ll get it back on the road soon, I would hate for it to end up totaled🥲

I think Vanguisher is right and I gave it too much gas during the turn. I did this a couple times during this ride. Need to work on my throttle control.

@@tullyrankin It's not your fault. Without an ECU flash, the throttle input is really choppy on the Z650. I didn't bother to do this on mine but I workaround it by positioning my right hand so it's partially gripping the bar-end (you can see the awkward positioning of my right hand in my videos) and then using the other part of my hand to control the throttle. A bit hard to explain but basically the part of your hand that grips the bar-end will give you something to brace on and allow for finer control of the throttle with the other part of your grip.

Have you watched Keith Code's Twist the Wrist? Its from the 80's, but brings good advices. I had a situation like this in your video when I returned ridding some years ago In my case, I saw some gravel and had an exagerated reaction, and almost crashed. Good video and an excellent road for practicing!

@@motoontheweekend I've read a lot of people getting ECU flashes saying the throttle is a lot more choppy on the Z650 then other bikes they have had in the past. I'm going to check out your hand position and see if I can replicate that. Thanks a lot!
