I also planted 🥑 trees, but I had to give them away because they grew on a balcony. Perhaps they wheir tree to five years old. Sombody told me that all Avocado trees do not have Avocado it depends on If it's à female or a male tree. You find out after fifteen years. Well I think the solution is that some branches must be grafed from an other 🥑 tree that do have Avocado! KEEP going! Great thing you are doing! 👏👏👏👏♥️

How is the wurtz going? I think I might buy a wurtz, not sure yet. I do live in a cooler climate in vic Australia so I have to kind of stick with the Mexican varieties cos they are more tolerant of cooler winters. I mean we don’t get below -2 and it’s rare when we do so I could probably get away with a lamb hass and wurtz. I want a couple of small trees I can grow in large pots preferably.

Wurtz are cool, they can grow in large pots too I have seen. I have 2 B type avo trees I bought this year already couple years old. Now looking for some cuttings of a type avo trees so I can graft onto seedling avo trees I have. I have a question though, can you graft an A type avo tree onto a seedling that is a B type?

Does this need a pollinator, or is ir self pollinating?
@NMW80
@NMW80 4 жыл бұрын
Self pollination happens with this tree I believe it’s better to have more than one variety though. You can always get a cutting off someone later on and graft a branch onto that tree so you can have cross pollination too. If you don’t have room that is. If you have room though and are in the right climate get another one, why not lol avocados are awesome. I just bought another avo tree myself (a feurte) I have bacon already. I need to get some A type avo trees now. I am going to get some semi dwarf types like lil Cado I think cos I’m running out of room.

@@NMW80 ...oh, my front neighbor has a big bacon avocado, you think that will be a good pollinator for this? I got one already last month and its growing well in a 40gal container

Don’t give up they can take a while in some cooler climates I have read. Has it ever flowered? And yes as the other person said make sure it’s getting fertiliser and watered when needed and has good soil and lots of mulch aka organic matter on top of the soil

for those dwarf avocados, how much should you water them using drip irrigation? Also when using drip irrigation, do you recommend the drip attachment or a microsprayer or other?
@frankyancy1347
@frankyancy1347 3 жыл бұрын
Best is the micro sprinkler, as avo roots are shallow and drip tends to water too deeply. If you have good draining soil and have planted the tree with the root ball slightly above ground level, on a mound, then its hard to over water. Ground under corse mulch should be moist,, not wet. Good luck

Is there a visible difference in a dwarf avocado seedling to regular size avocado seeding? Im shopping for a dwarf and I don't want to find out I got scammed 5yrs after planting it.
@NMW80
@NMW80 4 жыл бұрын
You won’t get scammed as long as you buy it from a reputable shop that sells plants. Where do you live? I mean what area? Just don’t buy online from like random people unless they can prove they have them I guess.
@NMW80
@NMW80 4 жыл бұрын
There was scammers on gumtree saying they had hass avo trees and I was going to get one and I asked them if they grew it by seed and then they said yes it’s a hass seedling. So you have to be careful cos some people are just selling a seedling which you can do ya self for free. Avo seeds are easy to grow, I have quite a few now growing and I’m going to use them to graft varieties that I like onto them and to see what fruit they produce one day.

I should say "Thank You" instead. It is your question motivating me to dig more on the google. Honestly i've been getting anxiety for past 3 weeks since I got these 3 trees, until I saw this video and your question. Yesterday I saw some some my young leaves showing with slightly red color, so I am pretty sure it is Littlecado. Besides the beautiful fruits grown on this tree, I like the most from this video is he said " I NEVER EVER FERTILIZED THIS TREE..."

I just bought a 5 gallon Little Cado from a local nursery. I did not like the foliage on it and looks very flimsy. Should I transplant it to a 15 gallon pot right away and prune it so it can grow more branches..Appreciate your response.
@ScaryHairyGary
@ScaryHairyGary 2 жыл бұрын
Most avocado growers grow them under shade houses which makes them very flimsy and weak. That's why ours are so good and strong because they are full sun grown. Big difference. Best to grow it on in a five until it gets strong then plant it

Thank you for your response. The guy that works at the nursery said to only give it morning sun. I wondered why he said that? Any reason for that? Should I give it full sun now and some fertilizer? What npk fertilizer should I give it?
