During Law&Crime's special coverage of the Alec Baldwin trial, a viewer asked about how the live rounds of ammunition ended up with the dummy rounds that were supposed to be used in the gun fired by Alec Baldwin on the set of “Rust.” Former armorer Dutch Merrick explained that he believes the manufacturer mixed live rounds in with the dummy rounds when it was purchased. Merrick also breaks down how the job of an armorer and what safety precautions should’ve been taken during the filming of “Rust.”

Famed actor and movie producer Alec Baldwin was indicted on one count of involuntary manslaughter in January for the death of 42-year-old cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Hutchins died on Baldwin’s “Rust” movie set. Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter for Hutchins’ death. She was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Well, it was also a pattern of behavior by the prosecution and their witnesses. Kari was signaling witnesses how to answer and not answer questions. She was constantly objecting and getting overruled which means that she knew she was going to be overruled but just wanted to mess with the flow of the defense attorney. Everyone from the Sheriff's office had real memory problems when being cross examined but somehow had a perfect memory of events when being questioned by the prosecutor.

Baldwin still pointed a real gun at somebody and pulled the trigger and she DIED. And he KEPT PLAYING WITH GUNS LIKE THEY WERE TOYS when they resumed shooting in Montana. He didn't learn anything other than that he's above the law.

I am so happy for Alec Baldwin. I can't imagine the weight of this being on his shoulders for literally years. Lesser men would have crumbled from all the jokes and accusations levelled against him. He was not to blame, justice was served. Take that Trumpers

Caps lock doesnt change the fact that a.b. murdered Halyna Hutchins Justice failed her family today. Chain of custody for fake rounds was never established. If the prosecution used this evidence, the defense would hold grounds. This will be reversed by judicial misconduct proceedings.

How come the "professionals" don't seem to understand the issues at play here. It is entirely possible Kenny brought live ammo on the set, these other bullets show its not the only time its happened. The prosecutor is a lying toad out to make a name for herself, which hasn't helped at all ...

I find this confusing ( it might just be me ? ). Why is there any live ammunition on the set ?? and if there is and it should not have been there then where did it come from ? and once identified where it came from it leads you to he prime culprit and then you go up the chain of responsibility of checking the rounds before they leave the secure armoury and a check again ( mistakes happen human error ) but it all leads back to when the bullet was made where did it go and how did it end up anywhere near a movie set which leads back to the supplier ( it's me isn't it , I am missing something right ) .

The armorer is incorrect. This has happened before. Brandon Lee died on the set of the movie "the crow" when a live bullet was accidentally used in a prop gun.

I recall 3 times a prop used incorrectly caused injury or death. Brandon Lee, Jon-Erik Hexum were both shot and Kevin Nash was stabbed on the set. Search Kevin Nash Stabbed he talks about on his podcast. The other story of movie prop error was the priceless guitar from the hateful eight, production borrows a 100+ year old guitar from museum and during a scene the actress was playing it and no one swapped in a replica during the smashing part.

Forgive him for what? Baldwin had no reason to believe the gun had live rounds in it. Clearly the victim didn't think what Baldwin was doing was dangerous either, because she didn't run out of the church when Baldwin was practicing his draws.

He does seem to have culpability as a producer, along with the other producers. This whole film appears to have been done on the cheap and that’s on them. But with regard to this particular charge, I’m glad this has been thrown out. He clearly did nothing wrong and was set up with a situation where he was going to kill someone he cared about. Horrific situation.
