One band that's never had an audiophile reissue series is The Stranglers. If you like the doors with a dash of punk and new wave, the first four albums by the stranglers will be up your alley. The UK pressings cut by bilbo and George Peckham sound fantastic but I'd love to hear a proper all analog reissue from the master tapes.

I'd like to see/hear a audiophile of the initial MEATLOAF Columbia album. A long Og , maybe 24 min. A side, Spreading it over two lps at 45 would be great.

Maybe AS/AP should negotiate with more labels now or cry later over all of the modern rock LPS out there that others will eventually be reissuing. STP's core is a clear example of this and I don't think anyone should be shocked by the fact it's sold out so quickly / best selling in the A75 series so far. I would imagine Purple & INXS Kick will perform similarly. Agreed on the reissue of DD's Seven & the Ragged Tiger (I have a Japanese og and it is nothing short of incredible) & I agree with George -> Jane's addiction reissued right away! As always, awesome stream Steve!

Ugh I would die for a Rhino Hi-Fi box set of The Smiths. Seems like such a no-brainer to me as their catalog is very small but legendary, and they haven’t been “done to death” yet either. Sure, their albums have been kept in print over the decades, but none of their albums have ever received a true “audiophile” reissue. I’d be shocked if they actually have the rights to The Smiths’ catalog but choose to not do a Rhino Hi-Fi box.

I have the first few original US pressings of INXS including Shabooh Shoobah which is actually their 3rd album. And yes, the Pretty In Pink soundtrack is an absolutely classic! I bought that on vinyl when it came out.

Pretty in Pink Soundtrack is a killer.

Good show guys. Was also dissapointed with the All Things Must Pass Remix. Its just flat and doesnt have the oomph you expect. I picked up a Japanese mid 70s repress (complete with OBI and inserts/poster) that plays really nice. Missing a bit of bottom end but "thats what your tone controls are for" (copyright G.Borden) ;-)

Christmas in the Stars and Meco Star Wars and other Galactic Funk both need a Audiophile Pressing. Hey. I can wish.

Steve....I know you are Canadian (like myself) so would probably appreciate this. The 2023 self titled Amanda Marshall pressing is outstanding. Quite impressive, great dynamics, quiet, flat. POLY LINED INNER. Check it out if you havnt. You couldn't avoid hearing these songs on radio back in '95. Still sounds great.
@stevewestman77744 ай бұрын
Yes. I own it and have featured it on my show. All songs were amazing and had tons of radio play. So good. Thanks for watching.

Don't Diss Caress of Steel George! I really dig that album, it's better than the first two Bro... 😊 And, that was the only album where as one of Steve's themes here a while back, I SERIOUSLY went down the rabbit hole trying to find the 'Best' pressing of it. Also, by some odd chance, a few years ago someone on the Steve Hoffman Forums happened to be selling both the 2-LP RUSH pressing of Counterparts AND the 2-LP pressing of Test for Echo for $35 each! Somehow I was the lucky one to grab them, those buggers like George said are worth upwards of $200 or more each now. Also, the later Remix of Vapor Trails is the one to get. Even RUSH admitted that they totally screwed up the mastering of the original. I grabbed that back then too and I think that one also is a little pricey now.

Jorge mentioned live in Long Island by Billy Joel. Was there a hifi version released? I had the VHS tape back in the day. I’ve always loved Songs in the Attic too!

I was the one that asked about the Beatles Mofi at the last round table. Abbey road was a mofi Before the box. So using that master for the box makes sense. The other records were pressed individually after the box, so they may have used the box masters perhaps? I only have Abbey Road and the box for comparison. Speaking of 80s, How about a Fixx box set of MCA releases ?
@stevewestman77744 ай бұрын
Much appreciated. The Fixx would be cool.

Great show! I think you two have a hit, here. Perhaps rename and put George in the title. I could see this taking off and prefer this flow vs a larger roundtable where it's hard for guests to not talk over one another. Keep up the great work!

I’m going to be roasted for this, but I would love an audiophile reissue of Journey - Captured. OG sounds pretty good but streaming sounds terrible. A guitar and vocal clinic!

Why do you need more of the Doors? Was it 5 versions you showed of the debut album? 😂 The AP releases are good enough I think
@stevewestman77744 ай бұрын
Rabbit hole. But the 33 RPM Doors cuts. All AAA. I'm sure there's a market for 5000 copies of a box set of all their albums.
@andysmusicden4 ай бұрын
@@stevewestman7774I’m sure there is a market. But I thought it was about your wantlist. 😉 Maybe you can have a round table about personal want lists for records that have not already been released by the audiophile labels and disregarding any market potential.

I want someone, preferably Chad and crew, to do reissues and/or boxsets of Chicago. I hate to be negative, but the Chicago remasters by Friday are amazingly terrible. Unlistenable. And the closer in to the center, the worst they get. I have three of them and I can testify personally. I swear, Chicago deserves an audiophile treatment. And I say Chad and crew, but Rhino is doing a bang up job too.

VQR, I am NOT surprised STP sold out before Colins as Collins is overrated and STP a little underrated.

Why do you keep advertising this Rhino High Fidelity concept debacle. Do you know how hard it is to get a Rhino High Fidelity in Europe? It costs me 80 dollars for an LP of it. And then the package arrives and the jackets are damaged because of bad shipping packaging. You guys in the US and Canada have a good laugh, but there are music fans elsewhere too. AP and Mofi are to get everywhere, why not the Rhino shit. Don't you realize that the major companies don't give a shit about their customers? There's no justification for the rising vinyl prices either. Small companies can do it cheaper. The Rhino High Fidelity concept is just big shit, not the albums themselves.
@uncle_remus4 ай бұрын
I totally agree. I live in Holland and it's a pita to get your hands on the Rhino stuff. I stopped ordering the vinyls and only buy the Quadio discs. But with shipping + stupid import taxes it's still way too much.

This isn't a roundtable it's one other guy that you always have on each wednesday. I like George but you need to step it up and add a few more people - otherwise don't call this a roundtable and show George some respect by putting his name in the video title. I'm not even going to bother to watch this.
