Both can be right. I dated a deaf woman for 2 years and she could easily speak well enough to give her GSD commands. In the DIYK9.com courses, you cover the entire gambit. Food luring, hand commands, vocals, leash pressure, e-collar, and you can make the dog extremely proficient on every one of them.
@Troy-Echo

@@1packatak I train my dog in German for some commands, and English for others. The sit, down, stay, all in German. I even changed the Sitz to a different German word because Sit and Sitz sound so similar to the dog it doesn't matter. I use other commands in English such as Leave It, Come, etc., so if people like a vet or someone watching our dogs can still easily command the dog when needed without learning German commands. I love going into public and people seeing my dog is trained, then they tell her to sit or down, and she doesn't budge, and they just look puzzled. I won't use the verbal command, I'll just use feather light leash pressure to ask for the sit or down, and she complies immediately every single time without fail. Her leash commands are better than her verbals to be honest.

My Rottweiler is the same way they're not good with the heat to begin with
@Troy-Echo
@Troy-Echo 14 күн бұрын
You can't change the heat or the dog, but you can change the time you train. Do the training in the morning when it is cooler versus just tossing the dog a bowl of food so you two can work in favorable weather. Make feeding time training time. if you don't' have time to train at feeding time, cheat and do 30-60 seconds of training. A few small recalls, sits, downs, etc. Then send the dog to its crate to eat. These are a few of many tips Garret has in the courses at DIYK9.com. Check out that free 4 hour course. It pops up bold when you go to the site. Impossible to miss. The information Garret covered in this course are in the Obedience 101 and Leashed courses.

I will sign up when I get my pit bull puppy. I can't have her where I am, and she is living with my dad. She is almost 5 months old, and I would like to get her trained as soon as possible, but it's hard to do when you live in a different state and my dad is too old to train him and actually keep and follow the training. He also has 2 other untrained dogs.

Go to the Linked.Tree link in the description. There's an Amazon link there that has pages of items Garret uses, including the place board (elevated dog bed), leash, martingale collar and prong collar, the treat pouches, the food he uses which is Royal Canin (SP?) Garret uses this brand because 1) it's good food, but check with your vet to see what they recommend, and 2) it's a larger size which makes it easier to hold and train with. I use something called Fresh Pet. It's cheaper than hot dogs by a long shot, and it doesn't have sugar, salt, dyes or flavoring added to make them tasty for humans, and out dogs go nuts for the stuff. It makes a great high value reward for training. It comes in 6 pound and maybe 1 or 2 pound sausage shaped packages. The downside is it is messier to work with than hot dogs and it doesn't' freeze well. Don't forget to check out that free 4 hour course at DIYK9.com. Everything Garret covered in this video are just a small sample of what's in the Obedience 101 and Leashed courses.

My dog is a Husky/Treeing Walker Coonhound mix. Garret works with whatever dog he has in the training program at the time. I have 100% of the content as a moderator, but I paid more attention to the content than the breed so I'm not 100% sure if there is a Husky in the paid content or not. Huskys can be trained very well though. There's a young Husky named Kalua if I spelled it correctly in his KZfaq content. The dog is 3-4 months old and fully trained, on point, and working and responding with enthusiasm! Don't forget to check out the 4 hour free course at DIYK9.com. Most dog trainers call this a place board, but it's an elevated dog bed. It's great for keeping your dog cool on hot days, it is easy to wash if the dog tracks mud (or worse stuff) onto it. If you go to the Linked.tree link in the description it should have the Amazon Affiliate link under the dog training link, along with the other items used in this video like the leash, martingale and prong collar, treat pouch, the Royal Canin dog food, clickers, etc. I can't confirm 100% because I'm on a break at work and we're on a VPN connection that likes to block some stuff. Hola se hace este ejercicio todos los dias?
@Troy-Echo
@Troy-Echo 14 күн бұрын
Yes, this is one of many training tasks Garret and staff train every day and multiple times a day in his training facility. You have to change things up to keep the dog (and trainer) from getting bored with the task being trained. Part of the training is based on what he feels the dog is ready for that day based on its energy levels, mental status and so on. Garret covers these types of tips and tactics in his Obedience 101 and Leashed courses. Also, don't forget to check out the free 4 hour course at DIYK9.com.

Oh, I'm definitely like that. My old roommate was a manager at an insurance place and you could hand her a 100 page manual on new insurance stuff, and she could recall most of it after reading it once. Me, I could give you a few topics and maybe the name of the manual. Garret has both classroom and live demonstrations in his training courses. He gives you a topic that he's going to cover, then goes into each detailed part and breaks it down to easy to understand discussion, then gives you several examples to make sure you can understand everything he's teaching. Then later in the course he covers these topics again on a dog that is at the stage in their training course to show these training topics to you on a dog that is being introduced to the commands for the first time, and working through as the dog is learning so you can see the progress. The courses are extremely detailed. I'd still suggest taking some notes on key topics. You saw a lot of things in this video, but having these courses myself, there is a ton of info you saw but did not catch all the meaning and education behind the little nuances. Don't forget to check out that free 4 hour course at DIYK9.com. Everything Garret covered in this video are just a small sample of what's in the Obedience 101 and Leashed courses.

@1packatak 16 күн бұрын
Just sub it for the treat. A ball on a rope or a tug toy with handles are great.
@Troy-Echo
@Troy-Echo 14 күн бұрын
You could use a ball, Frisbee, tug-of-war toy, anything that your dog has drive for. You could use praise, love, affection, essentially anything your dog is excited to work for or play with. Food based rewards are easy if you're providing your dogs meals via training and only training. A hungry dog is a dog that's willing to train to work for its food. Garret covers these topics in the Obedience 101 and Leashed courses which is what he was covering in this live session. Don't forget to check out the 4 hour free course at DIYK9.com and the other subscribers only channel in the description field too.
