I previously paid $3000 for a different online Etsy course (not handmade alpha academy!) and had one question about my physical product…I sent them the question I had and they could not directly answer my question and was told I would need to pay more money to join their coaching! After I already spent so much on their program! I emailed Starla my question and she promptly replied to me and answered my question!! I am so grateful to her and truly shows how passionate she is to help others!

😳 $3k⁉️ I don’t get why anyone would pay for an “Etsy course” when you can find helpful info on the internet/YT for free 🤷🏽‍♀️ Some people need their hands held. Others are more self sufficient.

For $3k I hope she was also doing your dishes and laundry!!! 🫣 My course is just under $1,000 but you are receiving a year of erank pro, annual access to our $120 alpha holiday bootcamp each year, and Kristina Nicole's course, which is normally $300 on its own. AND you have the ability to email me at any time, any day, forever. You NEVER have to pay again for anything once you're in and you don't lose access to support. A lot of people say, "Why buy a course when you can google the material", but HAA isn't a "how to set up a shop course". It's a program built on a foundation of human behavioral science and consumer psychology. Sure, you can Google it and attempt to figure out how to apply it to Etsy. But those who invest in my program do so because they want to learn from an actual teacher (teaching is what I went to school for and an online classroom is no different) how to realistically apply human psychology into their shop and marketing without having to already possess a baseline knowledge of human behavioral science. You can Google "how to set up an Etsy shop". You cannot Google what I teach in the handmade alpha academy.

@@StarlaMoore actually, you are very transparent with what you get and, from what Ive seen, I do believe that your course is probably one of the best. I get a lot of helpful tips watching your vids. And I also love to watch for the banter. You’re a great team together 😊💕

The shop with the Feelings Wheel... if the product was already selling would it have been good to change the description? I thought the answer was always "no". I'm wondering if listing the same item again with updated title and description would be a good or better way to go.

This is an honest question, what if a shop wants critiqued that has Disney items, but holds the right to make said items? When you buy certain embroidery machines they come with a large Disney collection you are legally allowed to create and sell, and there are other packages you can purchase that don't come with the machine. I don't know any laser cut machines that come with a Disney package, but you can buy them. It probably is too much work to verify their right to sell such things, but it may exclude people who aren't infringing on intellectual property. I was just curious. I appreciate all the work you both do for sellers and charities. Not trying to be a pain. Thanks.

This is a huge misconception. "When you buy certain embroidery machines they come with a large Disney collection you are legally allowed to create and sell" - This is incorrect. You are legally allowed to make the items for personal use. You are not allowed to sell them. Disney requires several complex layers to their licensing agreements, including over a million dollars in insurance PER item you sell, and that does not include the millions in licensing you'll pay just to obtain that license to begin with. There are no packages you can purchase that carry licensing over to you, as a creator. Many sellers will attempt to cite things like the "First Sale Doctrine" when defending things like the sale of crafts made with licensed fabrics. But this, again, is a misconception. The First Sales Doctrine protects the rights of the person buying a copyrighted item. THAT purchase is the first sale, and does not carry to not subsequent sales, nor does it protect “reproduction” made from the original materials. There's no way around Disney. Small sellers absolutely cannot afford licensing for Disney. I've never seen a single seller, in my 12 years on Etsy, be able to obtain one or afford one. The only scenario where I see sellers successfully obtain legal licensing is with authors, which is what I personally do in my own shop. But the licensing agreements are strict and I must pay commissions out to every author per sale I make - and I have signed legally binding contracts to do so. My licensing agreements must also be outlined in my listings. There are very few industries where licensing agreements like these are realistic and affordable, outside of books, indie games, and local schools. Aside from these areas, anything BIG like movies, TV, major video games, etc., are unobtainable. Anyone who claims to have legal licensing from Disney is likely being dishonest OR they are unknowingly breaking the law.

@@StarlaMoore I can't thank you enough for that detailed explanation. One of my embroidery machines came with a huge Disney package. I thought I had read every paper that came with the machine, but I obviously did not. I had never tried to sell any of the Disney stuff because it's not my niche, but I absolutely thought I had a right to do so. I actually justified the price of the machine because of those packages. I'm happy I never sold any online because I could never afford that kind of lawsuit. Thank you again for explaining all that. I'm going to reread my paperwork. 🙏
