This was towards Nirvana and their song "I Hate Myself and I Want to Die" from what i heard. There's a cool thing about the 90s rock which is the first half is where grunge came along and it usually had a depressing vibe, and on the second half britpop came along and it became almost a haze of happiness. It was a decade of contrasts which was cool, but i think every decade has that to an extent, for example synthpop and goth in the 80s, disco and punk in the 70s, pop rock and emo in the 00s etc. There's always two sides, and oasis was almost the opposite of Nirvana, but Noel still respected them which was cool. So this song is almost like a tribute more than a call out or a diss.

As much as I love your effort and enthusiasm I don't think that they'd ever do any EBM stuff like Front 242 or Nitzer Ebb. It was hard enough for Alex to admit that the 80s were not all just about synths and that there's stuff that he liked. Suggesting bands whose music is made without any analog instruments and solely with synths and computers would give Alex the shock of a lifetime. At least if he would jump right into it without finding any appreciation for this kind of music before. This is why I suggested to try out Kraftwerk some weeks ago, because they were kind of the predecessors of all those electronic bands. You know, you need to lead them slowly on their path and not let them jump into the water without telling them how to swim. It's like when someone has never heard a metal song before and one would suggest to listen to Slayer. That would be counterproductive and scare most people off.

As incredible as “OK Computer” is, it has unfortunately obscured how great “The Bends” is. I love both albums, but I’d argue “The Bends” is more accessible, especially on a first listen, so Alex & Andy should start there, maybe with “(Nice Dream),” “Just,” or the title track. My (not yet at the time) wife and I saw Radiohead at an outdoor concert in the late 2000s (I think 2008) in torrential rain. We got there early, but the roads washed out and the dirt parking lots flooded, so people were still arriving more than an hour into the show. It didn’t matter if you were under the roof; you were getting soaked.. Even the stage was hit by sheets of rain. About 2 hours in, Thom Yorke stopped the show to thank everyone for coming out, and said that the band appreciated it so much they were going to play a song they hadn’t played in concert in many years. When the first notes of “Fake Plastic Trees” rang out, the crowd erupted. When we got back to our car, we managed to move forward about 3/4 of a car-length and then didn’t budge an inch for more than 90 minutes. We were only about 25 minutes from home but didn’t make it back until after 2:00. It was worth it.

Ah yes, The Bends is also great. I saw them on a Friday in a small Glasgow venue of no more than about 1,000 people and it was fantastic. I bought the Bends on the Monday and played it non stop. 2 years or so later I saw them again on the main Glastonbury stage and that's now regarded as a Glasto classic gig so yes, I highly recommend both albums.

Oasis was an incredible band. Liam’s voice is so “vibey”. Noel could bang out one hit after another. The whole Def Maybe album is great. Wall of sound!

Hey A&A! I love Oasis, I love this song, and I was very curious to see how you guys would react to it. I'm so glad you loved it. Oasis is very much the sum of their influences, and yet they still managed to be their own thing. I'm glad I got to see them play at MSG on their last tour before the brothers finally busted it all up for good.

you guys should really consider reacting to this entire album - Definitely Maybe - released in 1994. It is their debut album and kicked off the whole Britpop scene that dominated the UK in the mid to late 90s. It's a fantastic album from start to finish!

I adore Oasis. Don't Look Back in Anger, Champagne Supernova, Stop Crying Your Heart Out, Whatever, The Masterplan, Let There Be Love, Cast No Shadow, All Around the World, Half the World Away, Stand By Me, Supersonic, The Importance of Being Idle, She's Electric, Some Might Say, Going Nowhere and many others are absolute gold. I'm American and even I'd say their music is biblical lol

Have you ever eaten something and then get the stomach flu? Then you can never eat that again? Yea, that's me and Oasis. My first wife played them and Bush so repeatedly that I still cringe when I hear them. Not knocking the group, I just can't still after almost 20 years.

They were so unapologetically British hence the mayyybaaaa…the songwriting is so good, production so layered and tasteful. Proof you don’t have to play a million notes to be a great guitar player, just play the right notes ❤️😎

I love the What's the story? (Morning glory) record, Champagne Supernova is a classic. Wonderwall is overplayed for sure but I have a soft spot for that tune. Very nostalgic.

It's Groovy Tony Mccarroll at the drums, memorable drummer of the band he was fired after the first album, then he was remplaced by Alan White a very good drummer but more technic, and after years himself remplaced by Ringo star's son Zak Starkey

I was a kid when this came out. Everyone who professed to be cool were into their grunge and U2 and whatever else. Me , I was into the Beatles and in my town there were about 3 of us and if we met someone else into them it was like a spiritual meeting of hearts and minds. When this song came out we felt like it was written for us . The people that new that The Beatles were a force that transcended music had a thumbs up from a current band that channeled that Beatle energy.

BTW, re: Alex's "Maybe" critique; for what it's worth, this song came first. "Wonderwall" is on the second album, this is from their debut album (and in many ways, their signature song). But you guys still need to hit "Champagne Supernova" from the second album next.
