Grácias de corazón. 🙏🏽🙏🏼🌎❤ Your brilliance, humor, love, & respect represent the best of this musical heritage. *You connect us to the masters that built this tradition. . .you swung with them, shared notes, visions, & laughs. And we feel this same energy emanate from Emmet’s living room.* 💫🔥🙌🏽 *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ There’s absolutely no way to dig this music without identifying a *certain sanctity in the stories you’ve shared.* These events opened precious doors in your journeys - and, decades later, enable us to feel the joy that we feel today. 🙏🏽❤‍🔥💯 *The best musicians are among the best storytellers.* - Facts: Cats just stay ‘in the know’. I feel that when you’ve lived and gigged enough, such stories are a beautiful outcome of a life ‘well-swung’. - It’s not about ‘good or bad’ - *It is about the sheer experience of Life & understanding our ability to change gears and create something utterly hip & unforgettable.* 🪄🔮 And that is the spirit of this music. A little encouragement to our Emmet’s Place Family:* 🪷 The gains of this past year have been hard fought & I can’t think of a better way to start this New Year and re-assess how we personally approach the music. *There is beauty and balance in being passionately committed to our craft, yet not taking ourselves too seriously* …to create space for an unapologetic playfulness in whatever we do - (which often yields that first-class swing) 🎶💫- Paquito & Diego are living proof 🙏🏽 *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ *When you’re winning, you naturally wish the same for others.* When you’re hustling & making music, (or whatever your life-passion is), you’re too busy for petty entanglements. You vibrate higher. 🏆🌍 And if that is not true, *get around good company…* *find your tribe, then expand it….* *stay inclusive, stay curious.* Be absolutely willing to - *not* - have the answers. Then be willing to find them. 💯 Get yours. Take the time you need.- *Seekers are among the most powerful & creative people on the planet.* They never settle. Blessings for a Happy New Year 💫🌎🎉🥂 …& here’s to upping our game & elevating our swing! 🎶❤ Meira 🧿

Thank you! I think the piece from Black Orpheus may also be known as A Day In The Life Of A Fool when it has lyrics. Possibly the lyrics were a later addition, I don’t know - I only know it from the Sinatra version.
@Meira_A
@Meira_A Жыл бұрын
Yes, friend! -there’s a later addition of English lyrics!-but I feel that the original lyrics of Manhã de Carnaval are far more beautiful in Portuguese & reflect the premise of the film…🙏🏽💌 (and I equally love Sinatra!) I’d love for our community to become familiar with Black Orpheus as a romantic tragedy, in the setting of Carnaval 🎭 (the original play was by famed Brazilian poet & lyricist Vinícius de Moraes, a very close collaborator of Jobim…his work was derived from the Greek myth, ‘Orpheus & Eurydice’.) It opened the world to Bossa Nova, which was built on the traditional Brazilian rhythms of the ‘favelas’. 🇧🇷 -(the historic settlements of former enslaved peoples of African descent…precious in culture, but a history of humanitarian woes.) Vince Gauraldi’s ‘Impressions of Black Orpheus’ was one of my most beloved albums of all-time from my parents’ vinyl collection🙏🏽❤. I urge a listen of his recordings with Brazilian guitarist, Bola Sete.

Thunderstruck!!! Privilege to view live the Maestro Paquito D'Rivera!!! If this weren't enough!? Diego Urcola!!! Emmett was stretched to his limit. As were Philip Norris, and Kyle Poole. From the blazing opening number to the final note... astounding... #103 among, if not, the most memorable performance showcase from this sensational venue. Thank you to all who made this unparalleled, invaluable performance possible. Best wishes, health, joy and wellbeing...
