Markon First Crop (MFC) is sporadically available out of the Arizona/California desert growing region; Markon Best Available is being substituted as needed. Desert growing region lettuce supplies were affected by a warm-weather trend during the transition, causing quality challenges such as:
o Internal burn
o Inconsistent growth/weights
o Long core/seeder
o Large ribs/misshapen heads
Temperatures have cooled down after a passing low-pressure system and light showers yesterday. Growers are expecting better overall quality and higher case weights in the coming days. Markon inspectors will continue monitoring quality and will update further as needed
