The Americana duo Mandolin Orange from North Carolina combines guitar, banjo, fiddle, and yes, mandolin, along with close harmonies and bittersweet melodies in their 'songwriter pickin' music'. The band joins us in-studio with melancholy tunes from their latest record, "Tides of a Teardrop".

I can really relate to the loss of a young mother, mine was 40 and I got the privilege to take care of her for the last 6 month to her final last breath in October 9 1980 on a beautiful sunny fall day in Örebro Sweden. She was one of two terminal cancer patientens at a newborn ward with 16 newborns amazing contrast life and death in the corridors. Thank you (and your wife) for sharing your music to us all. You guys are amazing, will be seeing and listen to you again when you come back to City of Angeles

I have been a fan for a couple of years now. This is the first time I have heard Late September. Beautiful song Andrew. My mom died when I was 23 ... The Last time I saw/ hugged her was on my wedding day when I was 22. She died in early October also, and though I love the fall my heart is often sad and I can be hard on those I love at this time of year. When I went home for her funeral, I cried so hard my ribs hurt. 41 years later, 4 adult children of my own, I still sometimes miss her. One of my lifetime favorite lyrics is one you wrote. Loss has no end, it binds to our connection...... So brilliant.. so helpful...healing .I love what you guys do. Thanks so much. Love you guys with the band. Stay well please and please keep at it.

@@mke2854 Well, a mandarin orange is a kind of orange. And Andrew plays the mandolin. So they called themselves Mandolin orange.
