It was SO GOOD!! this Claudia is THE Claudia. I've read the books, saw the film, watched this.... These are the characters. This casting for the show is the best. Claudia is such a complex character and the layers of misogyny, racism, xenophobia, homophobia... Holy moly! The metaphors and social commentary were intersectional for once. And so painfully on point. Also... An aside... How TF did this get made so well but Mayfair is TERRRRRRIBLE?!? The casting, writing... It's SO VAPID . Interview has layers. Mayfair is a pancake.

They (Sam and Armand) came up with the show having Claudia play a little girl “for the next 50 years” because Armand was trying to break her, but the only thing it did was break her interest in being on stage. That’s why he forced her to wear her costume on and off stage as punishment. She endured so much in her mortal and vampiric life and she kept swinging. Mentally, she was stronger than all of them and Lestat, Armand, and Louis knew it. Armand ultimately played himself though because he had Louis when Louis let Lestat’s “ghost” go. Plus,Claudia finally having her own companion who really chose her and who wanted to go off and see the world with her was the cherry on top. Armand truly had won. But he couldn’t be happy with that. He, like Lestat, needed Louis to be isolated and dependent on him and that’s how he too ended up in that relationship filled with resentment, similar to the lead up to Claudia and Louis putting Lestat down.

There is no way Armand is not pulling the strings for the whole trial. Getting rid of Claudia and forever painting Lestat as the villain in Louis mind. Him not reading the minds of all the vamps in his coven for months (?) as they were planning this never made any sense. Him being guarded by Sam and his supposed helplessness was comical it was so absurd. We also see Sam later help bury Louis. Santiago being afraid he will "break" the fifth? Girl, the coven leader is the only one allowed to kill, so if you are really the leader as you say you are the fifth law doesn't apply. Other points, what was going on with Madeleine and Santiago, him whispering to her after she tried to speak in french. Mind control? Why? And I don't believe for a second Armand did not hear what she and Claudia said to each other before their death, in general I think there could have happened more there since we have only his account of what happened after Louis was brought downstairs. Finally it really bothers me that the series clearly tries to portray that memories are highly subjective and colored by our emotions. The memories of everyone. Lestat (in a scripted play that is designed to make him look like the victim and Louis the aggressor!) having different recollections about the past is not a surprise and that doesn't mean his memories are the "correct" ones and everything Louis remembered is false. They both try to make themselves less culpable, less to blame, they want to appear more like a helpless victim, portray themselves as the more reasonable one. The people they love will appear better, they people they dislike more evil etc etc. The same goes for Claudia, the same goes for Armand. The truth is somewhere in the middle and that is what makes it so interesting, These wild pendulum swings between this person is 100% correct, oh wait no now that we have seen this person memories it means that is 100% how it happened are so confusing to me.

@@blackgaycomicgeek Michael, even Lestat de Lioncourt managed to break free from the coven's control, contradict Santiago saying Louis was fine, and go off script to say that he was the abuser. There is no such thing as a perfect victim, realistically most people will fight back against their abuser, and Louis only snapped because Lestat started the fight by attacking their child. I don't understand how the abuser himself can admit to being an abuser and you STILL defend and minimise his actions. You watched Sam Reid's monologue about what he did to Louis and concluded "lol he healed tho"? With this level of media literacy, I'm not surprised you were not chosen to receive the screeners.

You know that two things can be true at the same time. Lestat was controlling, Louis was unstable, during the fight Lestat tried to restrain himself, Louis threw every hurtful thing at him (like he did to Armand btw), Lestat snapped, broke Louis, then regretted it and knew he wouldn’t be forgiven for a long long time.

1:27:26 I love the book but the book was depressing as hell they go into great detail about how centries of loneliness f*** you over and even if you have vampire companions it will never last and goes into detail of struggling with your humanity and struggling with change. Loneliness aside but can you imagine witnessing everything you know and love change from the clothes you wear, the houses and architecture, to the very beliefs and religions of entire nations change. The entire book series was more about Anne Rice's philosophical musings about immortality and questioning the existence of God. For me the characters where simply a backdrop for pondering these questions from different perspectives. Bless her soul but Mrs Rice's book definitely had some messed up parts where she forcefully went out of her way to describing Egyptian Vampire God's close to the equator as white people ❓❓❓❓And then she said they became darker when they where burnt by the sun 😅 please. And she had this weird obsession with describing how white the vampires skin was multiple times for the same characters for all her books but that's beside the point😅. Anyway what I'm saying is im glad of the Artistic liberations the writers took and I 1000% prefer the series over the book. And despite what many readers might think if the book was made into the series without any changes it wouldn't be as entertaining 🤷🏽‍♀️ we would have depressed characters having long monologues about the meaning of life and having thoughts about self deletion all the time and thats not fun to watch 😮‍💨

Concerning vamps going into the sun, you need to be really ancient ( like more than a 1000 years old) to be able to walk into sun with burning badly. Armand is only flexing, because he'll burn in the sun but it will take some minutes before it happens ( when he went to chase Malik, he was entirely covered, except his face). Having ancient blood helps, but Armand is not that ancient by vampire standard, so Louis can't walk in the sun.

Guess what ? Me and my wife were talking about "Interview Vs House of the Dragon". I'm a big fan of ASOIAF series and spin-off books, but I have to be honest,so far "Interview with the vampire" might be the better show. However, some INSANE events are coming in House of the Dragon. At the end of the day, let's enjoy both show.

in the books, Armand was the mastermind behind it all because he wanted to get rid of Claudia...Armand could have stopped all of this with one thought as demonstrated in episode 4 when he totally shut down the restaurant with all the vampires and people...also, in the books, Armand totally tortured Lestat so that he would testify against Louis and Claudio...and Armand promised Lestat that he could keep Louis but not Claudia...but, Armand double crossed him and pushed him off a hill so that he could not have any contact with Louis...just like Daniel said, you saved Louis but you let Claudia die (that was some deep cow sh*t and Danie knows it)...and trust, Louis totally loved Claudia and wanted to protect her (you guys are totally wrong)... i think Louis is going to set Lestat on fire and leave him for dead for his role in Claudia's death (and Lestat will sleep until present day)...which will be the lead in for season 3...the twist is that Louis sets him on fire after Claudia's death as opposed to before Claudia's death...and the song that makes him a rock star will be "Come to Me"...

37:52 I know Armand was an accomplice in Claudia's death but I hate how people are not acknowledging how Louis and Lestat where as if not more responsibile for her death 😢. Granted Louis had indirectly caused her death but had he ran away with Claudia when she begged him too she'd still be alive 😮‍💨. Oh and not to forget Louis is power hungry there was a point in time where he wanted to be Màitra and Armand did beg him to run away with him 🤷🏽‍♀️. Louis don't love nobody but himself 🥴. His spent prolonged one on one periods with Lestat, Cladiua and now Armand and he still did not love them 🤕. Louis ain't 💩. Lestat directly planned their death with the covern he had plenty of chances to escape with his "Family" before the trial even began 😮‍💨. So if we are going to grant Lestat grace then we should grant Armand the same grace too 😌. Also side tangent isn't it wierd that we don't get to visbly see Armand and Louis being intimate the way Louis and Lestat was 🤔. Also I just feel sorry for Armand nobody ever chooses him they never love him for real. Lestat never chose him (I'm not sure if that was romantic). The coven never chose him. And Louis never really chose him or even loved him for real. Louis is only with Armand for convince and he knows hw can gain power (through his blood), wealth, knowledge and a bed compain. Even in the books Daniel Molloy does not love Armand he just with him in order to gain power (vampirism) and wealth from him. Daniel resents Armand for not making him a vampire even though he knows its the only one true belief Armand has. Daniel (in books) books and Louis know that no that no matter what they do Armand will be there, he'll clean up the mess they make he'll forgive them and take them back no matter what they say to him no matter how they insult him (I still haven't forgiven the beige pillow comment that was just foul). He will always stick by their side. The series implies that Louis verbally abuses Armand and yet he still stays. Louis does not really love Armand and the saddest part is I believe Armand knows that 😢. He knows that Louis dows not love him but he still stays. The vile things Louis said to Armand is how Louis truly feels and Armand knows that. Armand can read Louis mind and im sure he knows Louis resents him. I just wish Armand could win I wish for him to find the love Claudia found.i think he also resented Claudia for having a Madeline, a companion who would love her even if it meant death and he can never have that 😔. Still Armand's #1 STAN even though he is messy🤭

10000% lestat was being controlled if yiu rewatch he looks dizzy and his head is spinning as well. yes armand can take ALL of them he's much older with MANY special powers. putting the coven to sleep (so easily) a few episodes ago was NOT a coincidence. even louis called it a "flex of power" but he aided and abetted by freezing time and letting them get captured. "it took all my power" bullllll. i feel like he saw a way to cut ties with his old life (the coven) and claudia. he did not like the turning of madeline. his perseverence with claudia being ended was so clear from the beg. he even put hands on her talkin bout "like how you treated your maker" he was pressed about it and wanted to uphold the laws. the LAYERS in this can be easssily peeled back. he was even reinforcing the idea that lestat twists things around but louis said "no that was how it happened" its a small moment but its telling. especially since he was caught w his fingers in both louis and daniel's brains. i actually cant wait to see armand really playing the villain and embracing the crazy. we love an unhinged king LMAO

Sunday night I was thinking #HOTD is slow paced & boring compared to #IWTV! 2 episodes in & I'm like "what are they doing for 2 hours? 3 medium deaths that impact the story? #HOTD is slow & not as engaging.

Season 2 just released in the UK, and I binged it in two days. I kind of disagree with you all about the Louis/Lestat fight. Remember, the trial was scripted by Sam. When Lestat was talking about the fight, it was very clear that this was not a version of Louis that we'd met. His creole southern accent became poorly inunciated (is that a word?!?). He started sounding like a black Southern character written for the play. With that said, I think there is some truth to the version Lestat told them about, when they were writing the script. Afterall, he told them about Louis' hoarding. When Lestat went off script, he admitted that he dropped Louis from a great height and broke him. For him in that moment, he realized it doesn't matter how hard Louis was coming for him, he went too far and broke him xxx

"Interview with the vampire" the tv show is so God damn good that I can't buy the books series, because I want to read books based on the show. I love it so much that I don't think I will enjoy the books as much. Plus, I might be 100% biased, but now I need my Armand,Claudia and Louis to be people of color. Also I've heard that some books are weird. Did I hear aliens ?

Bro... She went back to Paris to see her dad one last time. Did you really not feel Claudia's love for Louis? How she nursed him back to health after Lestat's DV, how she offered Louis to come find her if Lestat ever beat him again? How they screamed for each other as the coven separated them in this episode?
