Guys, back in the day, I had a mixtape and the song after this was Rock me Amadeus! I have heard this over and over again! the label on the tape was red instead of the regular black and white! This mixtape was probably the top songs of 1984 or 85. We would listen to this tape with my dad as my parents we getting separated, but eventually got back together. You are right Nick, I believe it was the live version with the clapping and the crowd singing too (well, I always thought it was the crowd....)

I apologize in advance if I offend anyone, but I have to tell you. I went to an open air show in the 80s with great acts like Arlo Guthrie. But Opus should also play there. Nobody wanted to hear them. And when they performed, there were boos and whistles. Finally the band leader said, "if you boo, we won't play at all anymore..." Then from the audience: "Yeah! Hooray! Get off the stage!" They went through their program anyway. In short: Opus wasn't really popular in the scene.

True story: I was a kid, back in the car and the song was aired on german radio. I must have been around the age of 4 or 5 only, but I do remember the first time hearing it, yes. Since I can remember I was a huge fan of music. Didn't understood any words, though, but I was totally in it! My mother has picture of me, sitting in front of the vinyl player with to large headphone one ... wearing only diapers as I was only age 2 or something like that? I was too young to walk by myself, but could already sit and listening to music - and I loved it. So I grew up with music and went into the music scene ... kind of: "music was my first love - and it will be my last - music of the future - and music of the past". < do you know this epic song "music" by John MIles? o_O If not, you need to check it out.

Where I live this is still cult. Opus recently did their farewell tour in Austria. They were from Styria. The song originally was recorded live. I'm not sure there even is a studio version of this.

There are quite a few people in Germany who get ear cancer when they hear this song. There was a time when we were so bombarded with this song that you could only love it or hate it. For me: terrible.

THAT is what I was afraid of 😛. I've probably heard this song 3 times in my life? But here in the US (or California), I have to hear, not under my control, PLENTY of Top 40 songs I wish I could never hear again . . . TOO MANY 😕.

@@rudolfbecker4313 Haha! I had to leave _before_ those type of bosses left :P. Apparently couldn't leave that music behind :/. I don't think I ever listen to music because of nostalgia. Great music stands on its merits, longevity, and the musicianship and creativity still holds up to this day :). Those "chica's" are probably still listening to 80's pop and driving someone crazy 😕.

I remember just breaking into singing life is life and na na nana na and thinking what is this song then I looked it up and wow what a great song 25 years later ! You should look up the midnight special TV show I remember hearing the doobies singing Jesus is just alright a great performance

@@NicknLex If you heard a 1000 times 10000 drunk people "sing" this song, you wouldn't wanna hear it a 1001th time 🤣 I honestly would like to help creating this marathon, here are my suggestions: Wir lagen vor Madagaskar (old sailor song) Caramba, Caracho ein Whiskey Schwarzbraun ist die Haselnuss Blau, blau, blau blüht der Enzian Sonne (Rammstein - Cover ..... playing this with Rammstein in Wacken) ... he also covered Die Ärzte, another famous german former punk band, such as Die Toten Hosen, which all Argentinians will know ...🤘

This song is called Live is Life not Life is Life. Nowadays its even better known otherwhere than in Austria. Especially in south america and spanish speaking countries where it was a big hit.

Simply the most horrible song I ever had to listen to. ..... and it still is played a lot on German radio. My 63 old body is never moving faster than when I'm trying to turn it off. And being drunk is no solution. Where are 10cc when you need them. But if somebody loves it, it's ok. For a cool video: Cry by Godley and Creme
