McCarthy was voted out of the job Tuesday in an extraordinary showdown from the House of Representatives - a first in U.S. history, forced by a contingent of hard-right conservatives and throwing the House and its Republican leadership into chaos.

I had a boss. When you walked into his office and sat down, he had a plaque of “man in the arena” staring at you from a shelf. He positioned it so every employee would see it. It was basically an “either you’re onboard or not” quote. I often wondered if they gave the plaque to graduates of the Wharton Business School. I don’t trust those who quote it. That boss was fired.
