LIVE: King Charles III Speech In The Houses Of Parliament

Күн бұрынThe King will open Parliament for the first time as monarch with a return to the full pomp and ceremony of the occasion, as the Queen re-wears her coronation dress.
Charles will don the Imperial State Crown, his lengthy crimson Robe of State and Admiral of the Fleet Royal Naval dress uniform, having travelled in a carriage procession from Buckingham Palace to the House of Lords in the Diamond State Coach amid great royal fanfare.
Camilla, wearing the famous George IV State Diadem for the first time, has chosen to re-use her coronation gown, designed by Bruce Oldfield, for her first State Opening as a Queen consort.
In recent years, the late Queen Elizabeth II mostly opted for a dressed down state opening - a functional coat, day dress and hat rather than the weighty crown and robes, often with a lower key arrival by car.
The changes were adopted due to her decreasing mobility as she neared 100, coupled with the pandemic, back-to-back State Openings due to a general election in 2019, and a diary clash with Ascot in 2017.

There are an awful lot of republicans on here who do not and don't want to know the history of this country. This is The United Kingdom not England, Wales Scotland, Northern Ireland. The pomp and tradition for me is wonderful, I would not want to live in a country ruled by a president, the thought of President Starmer, or Sunak or Blair is unacceptable. If the republicans want to live in a republic I suggest they go live in a republic and experience the horrors of a republic.

The worry about pestering smokers and throwing more billions at Jews while genuflecting to them even though these are the people who sacrificed the MOST to stop the holocaust is absolutely weird. You can tell the Jewish people run this country too, just like the US, et al. We don't see governments throwing billions into holodomor museums, etc.

She did. For an example, look at the 2015 State Opening. She’s wearing a gown, that long ermine cape, and the Imperial State Crown like how King Charles is now. The main difference I notice is that Camilla as Queen is also wearing a crown and has a cape. Prince Philip was not given this privilege because I think he was only a Prince.
