I thought his first 2 albums were decent but Testing was complete rubbish outside of 2 songs. You are definitely right. Rocky's hunger was definitely there on his first mixtape. He really wanted to get out the hood, you could tell. Just with his charisma, flow, swagger, he really snapped on shit like Keep It G and Trilla. New Rocky sounds bored and forced to make music because people want him to. But people will listen to his new shit once and not bump it again then go back to his old music.

found bout it around 2017 and 2018 since I'm younger than some people that discovered it during the year of release listening to it regiously since then LLA the soundtrack of the first times that I started to get drunk asf, doing funny shit with my friends of the time and of some of the best personal experiences as a young boy in general It seems a lifetime ago even if only 5 years passed Literaly marked my adolescence Clams, Main Attraktions, Lil B, SGP, Asap Ty and Friendzone's sound and style totally marked one of the 2010s classics Furthermore, that LLA is fundemental to understand the aesthetic of the pre soundcloud era of the first years of the 2010s Forever up there with the best underground and non underground cloud rap projects

This mixtape was overlooked for years by the new generation because it wasn't on streaming services. Finally it's on Spotify and Demons is blowing up on TikTok...well not quite...but close enough. It's a mashup. Anyway. Acid Drip and Houston Old Head deserve some love too - great vibey songs perfect for Gen Z. Bass and Brand New Guy are timeless bangers always. Wassup is a hood classic. Clams is fucking timeless in general. Rocky's first verse on Leaf was amazing as well. Rocky was super charismatic on Trilla and Keep It G. You won't see any rapper from the post 2010s era rapping with that much swagger. No bad songs on this tape aside from "Roll One Up" which I thought was meh. Get Lit grew on me heavy. What's really overlooked though is the other songs Rocky dropped in 2012. It seems like unfortunately Rocky's 2012 rap career has been buried to severe underground state besides Goldie and Fuckin Problems because they were singles for his debut album. But songs like "Back to the Future", "Max Julien", "Freeze" and "Purple Kisses" are hidden gems! You won't find this vibey shit anywhere else. Trust me, I've looked. Those newgens bumping Carti ain't realise the old ASAP Rocky was making this type of music AND better (because he is a better rapper overall lol). Rocky was making that atmospheric, relatable shit with a dope flow. There were some other great 2012 joints he had as well like Pretty Flacko, Clique Remix, Ridin (with Lana Del Rey), What's Beef (? Might have been 2014/15), etc. that didn't come out properly and aren't on streaming services. All this old shit Rocky dropped holds up so well today and sounds much better than whatever new music he's dropping. To this day I still bump Rocky's old music and probably will forever lol. Nobody did it like him. Problem is Rocky fell off really fast, it was just a downwards spiral from 2013 and onwards. First 2 albums were alright but a step down from his glory days, and after 2016 it seemed like Rocky was a completely different person - both looks wise and in terms of voice and flow. An ultra-obsessed streetwear fashionista who cared more about aesthetics than just making ill music. The old Rocky had an identity and the bitches were bumping him, the new Rocky don't have a real crowd outside of some of his more old hardcore fans and some curious newgens. New Rocky just drops random songs with no cohesion or identity with weird flow switch-ups that don't make sense, which makes me concerned about whatever new album he's dropping since I don't like any of the songs he's played at festivals. ASAP Yams had the blueprint for dude and he ripped it up. Rocky used to be wack musically until he joined ASAP. The talent was there but the music wasn't, Deep Purple was a terrible mixtape outside of Purple Swag. Yams put the magic on Rocky and then gave him a mixtape with 14 dope songs. However then Yams died in 2015, he made the Cozy Tapes music with the rest of the bruddas and the music was ass, Rocky was doing some rip-off Migos flow and adding autotune to his voice which I wasn't fucking with. To this day I'll never bump a Rocky track that has autotune on it. I know stuff like Get Lit has autotune but it was pretty tame and acceptable with the way it was mixed.

Mm. I'm glad you gave insight into Rocky's record deal at 5:20. 1.3 million was for the ASAP Mob? The blogs seemed to have got it wrong. People thought Rocky was getting 3 million when he was only getting 1.7 million. Maybe one of the biggest misconceptions of all time in hip-hop. It was essentially an exchange deal.

I didn't like the A$ap mob at first back in the day. I just assumed they were bad until i gave them a chance. This was back in the early 2010s when stuff like the beast coast, TDE, and other stuff like that was going on and i also discovered other MCs like Aesop Rock and other veteran underground MCs who wete seeing more love because of KZfaq and social media. I became a fan of them when i heard songs like "bath salts", "trillmatic" "1 train", and "hands on the wheel ". Also my 2 favorite members of the A$ap mob are Twelvey and Nast. Looking forward to Rocky"s new album

I'm not entirely sure, but I'm almost certain Rocky doesn't like this mixtape. He's performed at festivals every year and never plays any of his mixtape songs, ever. Even though this gave Rocky the platform to go mainstream and have so much buzz building up to his debut album. Rocky's disdain for his old music is one of the reasons his popularity has rapidly declined since debut. Rocky's core OG fanbase loved him because he used to make trippy music that you could sit back and smoke to, not giving a fuck what people think. That old aesthetic was all over Tumblr. Rocky just lost all of that appeal. He became bland, pretentious, weak, and uninteresting. On top of that, the fashion nonsense is unbearable. The bitches stopped fucking with him after realizing he sold out and just wanted to be a "cult underground Hollywood figure" that makes inconsistent funky music to shock people that doesn't have a fanbase.
