Notice how many of these MPs are looking down at their mobile phones. Please ban mobile phones in Parliament. We pay these people to concentrate on parliamentary business.

Yea it's possible that they're playing Candy Crush on their phones, but it's also possible they're looking up precedent or laws or news to inform their decision making

Orbits of ideas = Debating creatively. Parliamentarians are informed what is to be discussed and debated beforehand so that they can come prepared. May the Heavens help us if they are relying on Wikipedia and the biased news channels to inform themselves. أفلاك الأفكار

@@realitycheck4086 They shouldn't solely rely on what the higher-ups are telling them. They should absolutely seek alternative viewpoints on any given issue, rather than just swallowing whole whatever propaganda they're being fed. And some may be using their phones to coordinate with staff on the issue at hand. The phone is a valuable tool and can be used for good or bad or distraction. It depends on the individual

They weren't creating or deciding on any laws today, so they wouldn't be looking up any laws or precedent.. And Reality is right. Everything is given to them beforehand by civil servants (not politicans). You usually see them waving sheets of paper. They are actually called White Papers. Gives them the agenda for the day, details on amendments, new laws, that kind of thing. It was the first day of the new Parliament. First day is general stuff. Welcome back speeches, New MP's need to be sworn in. All admin stuff really. Queen is officially opening Parliament on Thursday I think. Then on Friday it's time to start Getting Brexit Done!

I'm sorry, I skipped the leader of the Scottish National Pratt party's comments. He is even more annoying than Comrade Corbyn. After that the Liberal Democrats stood up and I wish I had skipped him too. Proportional representation is not what you think it is. First past the post is the only way in a electoral race. Everything else sounds like sour grapes.

Thank you Jeremy Corbyn for all that you have done, showing compassion and humbleness to all in soceity and I feel quite numb and sad that so many people voted in the election based on Brexit and their own selfish needs and wants rather than thinking about the most vulnerable and all of our country and the serious concerns regarding our planet and environment. I fear that those that voted for Brexit and the conservatives I think you will find that you will be very dissapointed as time goes on that you will not get what you want for a very long time. And you will suffer as normal working people, when you cant afford to pay for private medical insurance and life saving drugs. And the cuts will continue. Good luck... treat others as would wish to be treated.

My daughter has Type 1 Diabetes which is an autoimmune disease and is lifelong and life threatening my daughter had to go to A and E with very high blood sugars and suffering from Ketoacidosis which is a side effect and is life threatening. She had to wait for 9 hours in the waiting room before she was even seen. There was also an elderly man with heart attack symptoms lying on a trolley with no one there to be with him.... your lack of empathy, compassion and knowledge is astounding and very frightening. Most doctors, nurses and consultants voted Labour and allied health professionals voted Labour because we care about other not just ourselves. If there is a hard Brexit which there probably will be now, my daughter who depends upon her insulin injections to stay alive, will have difficulties in obtaining her insulin as it is manufactured mainly in Europe along with many other life saving drugs that thousands of people in the UK depend upon. This is not scaremongering it is a fact.
