It's because the suspect will get more reckless and it will only get worse as the pursuit goes on and more units engage. 60 mph is already enough to kill someone and those roads were really narrow and winding. Plus, they can always find them later which they did so it's choosing the public safety over capturing suspects. Which is a smart move.

Exactly, it's like since the only people who get joy out of being the boss and beating people up are extremely dumb right wingers, a good chunk of police officers don't actually use logic or reasoning or know where reality lies, so we get worse crime prevention, higher recidivism rates, and more innocent people getting treated wrongly. While normal people obviously see what just happened, a white supremacist meth dealer is now let free (or without more charges) because the cops are so dumb they thought "that's a weird thing to do, haha he's so dumb he accidently broke his phone" when it's like y'all should know that was his purpose you are the dumb ones..well 15 ish officers. Also police departments should quit the whole not hiring people over 100IQ because the turnover rate is so quick. How about listen to the smarter people's plans and ideas so you can have a system that helps everyone, that doesn't require someone to be dumber than average just to believe they can do the job. I really don't understand why cops are allowed to place a HANDCUFFED and cleared suspect on their stomach, as an EMT we are trained to never place a restrained (violent) pt. In the prone position because it compromises their airway. Once a subject has been searched and handcuffed what harm is it to place them supine or lateral recumbent leaving their airway unobstructed and allowing any blood or secretions to drain from the mouth (lateral recumbent). I've read too many stories about subjects dieing in the custody of police because of this, remember we as EMTs deal with the same aggressive people. Just to be clear I understand why this is done before searching and handcuffing, but once that is done there is no need to put the subject at risk. The preservation of life is the number one job of all first responders.

People at work use the word “advised” incorrectly like this 1:40 and it drives me nuts.

I hear ya. I have a friend that ALWAYS and I mean always in a conversation say something like this... "I am so over it. I MEANT. The way she was dressed, I MEANT I saw it. I was telling her earlier today... I MEANT really. I've told her the word she is saying should be MEAN. Not MEANT. Im not a word expert but she is 54 years old. I MEANT! Lol

I like how the first officer backed off the pursuit in the interest of public safety. Well done. These perps don't care that they are putting others at risk when they flee from the police. My message to them would be: if you can't do the time, don't commit the crime.
