Journalists with good mental health went into wards to get evaluations, something like 80+% were involuntarily committed and had to get teams of attorneys and law enforcement to get them out etc. tons of legal, logistical and safety issues. “Nuts running the nut house.” Trespass is a citation that can be explained forthrightly pretty easily in the context and that you can deal with in the courts/with prosecutors.

If you just walk on my property without permission and I don't have any 'no trespass' signage installed, the trespass act in my area states that I have to ask you to leave and give you a reasonable amount of time to do so on your own accord. IE: I can't just say 'get the eff off my land' and start pummeling you. I have to give you time to turn around and walk out first because you could have simply made an honest mistake. If you don't leave, then I can either call the cops and have you arrested, or I can use reasonable force to remove you myself. These tracks carry trains travelling at 120 mph+ and are surrounded by fencing and I'm sure warning signage as well, so it's hard to believe that he didn't know that he wasn't supposed to be there. But if this were in my rural village where the CN trains only avg 22 mph and there's no fencing or signage anywhere, then it would be a completely different story. No cop would make a fuss about that, and neither does CN.

@@sartoaj Squatter's rights are limited in Canada. They have to pay the property taxes, maintain the property as if it belongs to them WITHOUT hiding the fact that they're using it from the actual owner, etc. IE: the squatter has to be in "open, notorious, and continuous possession" of the property for 10 uninterrupted years, by law. They can't just walk in and claim something. The owner basically has to know that the squatters are there using the property and not care or willingly forfeit it.
