Depends on the lawyers, DA, judge, cop... I got pulled over bout 5 years ago in NYS. Was on the way home from picking up my girl friend from work a few towns over at night. Like 10:30- 11pm. Well I was driving my emerald triple green 1974 Chrysler Newport. I live in a small town in the rust belt. So cars like this are very rare. And the only people who would drive something like that would be some 90 year old man, or a "colored" guy from the city... (Buffalo NY) we live south a couple hours from there. I get pulled over my a NYS trooper. I keep asking why I was pulled over... He won't answer me after 3-4 times. Finally he says"your inspection isn't valid" we have yearly safety inspections for old cars here. And emissions and safety for new. I corrected the cop and informed him that my inspection was fine. I actually had a "temporary inspection" issued from the DMV. Also called a "10 day". Which as it sound is good for 10 days. Then you have to have a repair shop do the real thing. I had this issued because I store my antique cars over winter. And I had just gotten it out a few days prior. The ole sticker was bad. So I was using a valid 10 day until I got in for an appointment... Well the cop refuses to acknowledge this. He wants me paperwork. Well in this car the glove box is located in the lower center dash. Between driver and passenger. And it opens down. Like a giant ashtray or something, but not. I remembered while I opened it that I had an empty weed pipe inside and the cop would for sure see it. I tried to shuffle the papers overtop, but too late... He yells, "what is that?!, Out of the car!" He makes me and my girl friend exit the vehicle. On the way out I admit yes it's an empty weed pipe. (I think smoked in maybe 1-2 times) but I do not consent to any searches and I feel the entire stop was unjust and illegal. Since his stated reason was not fact. He then searches me entire car. Even the trunk, under the hood! Searches me girl friends private bag. Which I believe was also illegal. And he ripped the entire car apart for 45 minutes. Meanwhile he has the both of us handcuffs and setting on my front bumper! He never has another officer come to the scene. He then fine some medication of mine inside my girl friends back pack. I have the prescription wit me and explained we had been camping and I always had to keep some of my medicine on hand if I need it. So he changed her with a drug charge for it! Then he find 1 Big mushroom in a sandwich bag. A friend actually gave it to me right before I left... So now we both have drug charges. Then he has my car towed and arrested us and took us in. He issued me 2 tickets for a bad inspection. Even tho my inspection was completely good. At court I paid 5 grand for my OWN laywer., Informed him how it was an illegal stop and I had PROOF! And the cop stated to me that the only reason he pulled me over actually was because "I was driving a black guys car. And alot of drug traffic comes down that road". Everything ended up thrown out except my weed pipe charge. Which was issued as it had been a small amount of weed.... But really the whole thing should have went! And "my" lawyer ripped me off!

A cigarette isn't going to ignite gasoline. Gas ignites at 500°f - 540°f. A cigarette at its hottest burns at 500°f. So even if you were trying to light gas with it, you'd really have to be puffing it while basically touching the gas. Even then, pretty unlikely.

The justice system pretty much has a bunch of the same cases with diff characters. Theyve had a similar situation a million times, theyll see if they try to plea out or if they try to fight it. Also think about it would the DA want to take a weak case like this to trial and spend all that money for a possession charge? None of them admitted to it, it wasnt their car, and it was in that hiding spot. I know of a case where a felon got off on a gun charge because no prints on the gun even though it was under the passenger seat and only him in the car driving. Because no prints and he didnt admit it they couldnt prove he had it in his hands, and since he drove uber he could say someone put it under there when he was driving customers

I was in college and had a few beers at my buddy’s place and left to head back to my apartment but I rolled through a stop sign and campus police lit me up. I was underage at the time and he smelled it on my breath and had me step out of the car and he performed a few field sobriety tests. I wasn’t drunk or anything but I got very very very lucky that night. He just wrote me a citation for the stop sign roll-through.
