In my opinion I think castle is not meant to be a combo gaurd, but he definitely can be. He’s said multiple times in combine interviews that his true position is pg and he felt that he wasn’t able to showcase all of his talents at UConn which is very intriguing to me and I think he has some untapped potential that maybe we can unlock

I would like for Poole to be the starting point gaurd to start the season and draft a pg at #2, preferably topic or castle. Let them come off bench and develop and then after the all star break start them and let them get a bunch of shots.

I think Poole should be a bridge point gaurd, let him ball out for the first half of next year and shop him at the deadline for more picks, then let the rookie take over for the rest of the year.

IMO, with a 2nd pick in the draft, at the very least teams must try to select a franchise-altering player rather than for positional need, so the Wizards might as well gamble on the player with the highest ceiling in this draft, who I find to be Zaccharie Risacher.

They won't because of their love affair with Deni

@@israteeg752 in my perfect scenario we resign Deni, draft Sarr or Risacher, and trade both Kuz and Poole for picks.

@@mikelawry7304 Deni is starting a four-year contract that is cap-friendly after having already been re-signed. Check. I agree with you re Sarr or Risacher. Check. Trading Kuz, There, I agree with you as well. Additionally, just as with Deni, Kuz's contract is comparatively cap-friendly, which could potentially render a trade . Poole? Now there is the throne that can turn any dream into a nightmare. Poole’s contract is trade prohibitive. The Wizards may as well either employ him in the hopes that he gets better or draft around his position and pay out his deal until it expires since at this point they will have little choice but to give up rather than acquire draft picks to get him off their payroll..

The jury is still out on whether JP can score when he's the focus of a defensive scheme. He's a bona-fide baller with no conscious. However, I think we need Castle for insurance. We dropped the ball w Haliburton. Not this time. He also fits the new administration profile of plus size, athletic, skilled with wspan. I trust Dawkins. He's not a Gigovny acolyte.

How about Topic, with Butler backing up... please no more defensive liabilities like Jones... they should trade Poole at the deadline

Even if JP will be the main pg. He still need to learn to play better without the ball. In modern basketball not all the moves going through the pg, and he need to adjust (if Kyrie can play as sg next to luka, he can learn too). Other things he need to improve it's the defence ( to be at least ok) and his decisions (more assists less hard shots) in the offense. He is talented and have a lot of potential, but still he has 140 milions contract, so the expectations shoul be higher. You forgot the trade option. We don't know what Dawkins will do there (probably on players like Kuzma, he will get some other players and not just draft picks).

I'm really starting to think Sheppard is the guy we should get. I do believe in Poole but I think Sheppard is gonna be that good. I think he's a 1 in the league and has to have a bigger defensive minded 2 guard like Bilal next to him in order to thrive. The size isn't great but that's really it. If he played on any other team as the lead guy he'd put up something close to 22/6/4
@israteeg752
@israteeg752 20 күн бұрын
Sheppard is a 3 inches shorter version of a Corey Kispert clone, which would make him an even greater defensive liability than the original . If the Wizzards were to select him as the 2nd pick in the draft, it would be almost suicidal and within a mind frame of an Ernie Grunfeld type move. Haven't Wizzards fans suffered enought?

@@israteeg752 I think he's a way better prospect than Kispert, especially comparing their freshman seasons. Sheppard is a way better passer, dribbler and defender. I doubt they'll draft him cause of his size and Poole's development throughout the year.

@@sbh23451 In the NBA, he will have to guard players that are far superior both athletically and otherwise. It is going to cause an issue at 6.3. Unless a player is very skilled and has a very high ceiling, you cannot take someone with these types of measurables to be a pure shooting guard with the second pick in the draft.

Brandon, I have a question for you. You mentioned that the PG the Wizards ultimately have should be a pass first PG. However that's not how the league is playing anymore. I watched an interview with Rajon Rondo on All The Smoke. He feels the league has gotten away from pass first PG like himself and CP3. Now, all the PG'S are score first. He mentioned Steph, Ja, Luka. Damien, Trae, James H., Tyrese Haliburton, Kyrie and others. He said the modern PG's score just as much as they distribute. He said he doesn't like it but the league has pushed it that way because they want more scoring for entertainment purposes. Do you see the Wizards following this standard?

Poole will be it. Many of the reporters who report on the team say leadership love him. I think they've going to pick Sarr or Risacher with the 2nd pick. Dawkins preaches positional size and defense so they'll look for size. Today Monumental Sports put out an article with Coulibaly. Apparently he knows both Sarr and Risacher. He actually played against Risacher and said he's "very talented " They also talked to Sarr who played with Risacher and he praised him too. If they're putting out articles on these dudes they're clearly looking at him.

They’re putting out articles about risacher and sarr because bilal talked about them not the FO? Pg is a need with tyus most likely walking in free agency, I think they most likely go castle or topic because he preaches positional size. With the plethora of young wings I think selecting risacher would be a mistake, it would stunt his development because he can’t get the shots and minutes he needs. Dawkins also loves those long wingspans and risachers is pretty short
