11 ай бұрынIn AD 71, a legion of 5,000 Romans marched north, crossed the River Humber, and established a base at York. What was it like to be one of the first Romans to set foot in northern Britain? What infrastructure did they build other than forts? How did they interact with locals? And what was their legacy?
This year, we’re exploring a BRAND NEW dig site on the farm, and investigating the remains of a Roman ladder settlement. Watch this virtual tour to see the latest discoveries from this previously unexplored site of Roman archaeology.

Many thanks for making and posting this video. Not only have I enjoyed the content right the way through, I've also enjoyed your - Ginny and Freddie - down-to-earth and friendly presentation. You two are great, and a refreshing change from modern-day Time Team, which I often find a little too glib and plasticky. Love the wind in the sound - made me feel I was there walking round the site. And there's that brilliant dog! ;-) Good Luck with the last few days!

I bailed out at 28:21 because the questions are almost 100% unintelligible and the lack of video continuity is extremely unpleasant. I deeply respect and value Dig Ventures and regret that I cannot bear to experience this particular sharing of this important Roman site.
