**VERDICT**
Ryan Alexander Duke, 36, is charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, burglary, and concealing a death in connection with beloved teacher and beauty queen #TaraGrinstead’s death. #RyanDuke
Tara Grinsted’s alleged killer is finally headed to trial 16 years after her murder. Justice for the former beauty pageant contestant and popular high school history teacher may never have come had it not been for Payne Lindsey. Lindsey is the creator and host of “Up and Vanished,” a podcast credited with cracking the case that led to the arrests of two of Grinstead’s former students, Ryan Duke and Bo Dukes.

I don’t understand this verdict. He hid the body, but he didn’t kill her? That’s crazy. He’s quite lucky.

This man didn't kill anyone. He was manipulated by Bo Dukes. I remember this case from years ago via the podcast that revisited the unsolved crime. Ryan Duke is... slow. He is on the spectrum, I believe. He has a diminished capacity to reason as most would. This was a good verdict. I've been concerned about this man for years. So sorry about the shameful loss of Miss Grinstead as well.

I just can’t understand how in the world they could find not guilty. There was an OVERWHELMING amount of evidence. There was beyond enough evidence to convict. Even though my opinion is that they both were involved in everything, Bo Dukes will never be charged with murder because there just simply isn’t enough evidence that he was ever in her house even. The glove didn’t have Bo’s DNA. Ryan can never be tried again. Very sad. I feel so bad for the family and friends. I’m sure it will be difficult for them to move on. Maybe one day they can . Love to them💕💜💙.

*_I haven't watched the trial but i did speak to some folks from GA & they are solidly in Duke's corner. I know these people do not know each other, although their both people who have dealt with these guys for a minute but I know how hard it is to believe a person you know can commit such a crime. So I went back & looked at this case, at all the evidence the jury got & I have no doubt the state failed to demonstrate that the accused is guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. People will absolutely no connection to the case will be ranting & raving on twitter now, "Oh what have they done. They let a killer go free." At the same time the very same people have been seeking freedom for a MURDERER in my state of Oklahoma recently. So when you see these ppl on twitter, scroll down & a bet you'll see them working on the side of a killer. I disagreed, because he was convicted. I agree here, because the jury said he is innocent, regardless of what emotional ppl say._* 👮‍♀👨‍⚖⚖👮‍♀

The jury did NOT say he was innocent. A jury can not proclaim innocence. They found him "not guilty beyond a REASONABLE DOUBT".... That's not the same thing as "innocent". It means they felt the prosecution did not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that he committed the crimes he was acquitted on. IMO, he got away with murder. But I will always respect a jury's verdict, even if I disagree.

@@clash4421 I misspoke about been declared innocent. I should have simply said he keeps that shield of "innocent until proven guilty" that is so sacred according to the law, especially here in the U.S. He was tried & acquitted so it's not just a presumption of innocense now, it's a declaration by a jury of his peers & the court that he is NOT GUILTY.

@@KyleInOklahoma Gotcha. No worries! Sorry I harped on it. For some reason it is my pet peeve - it's my issue, not yours. Glad you didn't take it personal. But yes, it is definitely a declaration by both the jury and courts that he is NOT guilty and will only be sentenced for the concealment charge that he was convicted on. Thanks for not taking offense to my respond.

Hope this never happens to anyone you love, he's guilty because he helped in the burning of her body, hiding this from authorities and then lying to them should have gotten 25 years. Instead 10 years already been in jail 5 could serve maybe 2 more years or just walk . this is not right

@@betty-janececile5214 It would be a false murder conviction because Ryan did not participate in the murder. Yes, I would be. 25 years is an excessive sentence for concealment of a death. There's a reason the guideline is 1-10 years. All crimes are not created equal. If you think concealing a death is as bad as murdering someone, that's your opinion, but I (and the law) respectfully disagree. Have a nice day.
