It's time to check out the new Ryobi inflator, it claims to be the best yet, but is it? In this video, I test the new inflator versus the old one. Do you really need to run out to home depot right now to grad the new inflator? Well maybe this video will help. Let me know your thoughts and if you will be investing.

I like the older style better, just add that new ones upgraded motor, display and light ( that’s my wish ) 🙏

I have the Ryobi hand held inflator. I got tired of holding it, so I bought the older one that you have & I’m happy with it, plus I keep it & the battery in a tool bag in the tool box of my pickup truck. Keep the Ry-O-bee🙂, information coming, stay WARM

Bought the smaller of these two,and it works great.Love the easy attach air nozzle and the digital air pressure guide. The hose does stay in place when stored, unlike many other brands that end up coming off.

Looks like the old one is quieter, and in the old design the battery isn't resting on the floor being vibrated and stressed.

If and when the older one I have stops working, then I would probably purchase the new one. But not enough to run out a replace it now.

I love quick connect over the twist, but i hate that it's all plastic. It will degrade from too much heat exposure. I'll stick to my old one with the quick connect attachment I bought seperately.

agree, I would also think it isn't as solid as brass in the Swedish winter cold I live in, last weekend it was below -20°C (-4°F). I would think the plastic easily cracks in severe cold, especially since it is "expanding force" on the sleeve when put on the tire valve. The next progression should be a quick connection with a proper metal body and quality o-rings.

I like the new version. Smaller and stronger.

I have the older model and never found it difficult to use. With the battery on the new one, the size difference doesn't appear to be a lot. The new chuck is nice but not worth buying a new device. The screw on chuck has always gone on easily and quickly. This update should make the previous model a great bargain.

Just had that happen to me. I learned that these inflator all have what I'll call duty cycles. They get hot. In ryobi they recommended using them for 5 minutes then resting for 5 minutes.

I have the older model , it's been great , no big deal with the screw on connection , the only thing I would have liked to see is the possibility of using the 12 Volt car plug in case you are stuck somewhere and don't have a charged battery pack , not sure how complex that would be to add , i know that my emergency first aid kit in the truck has one , but it takes a very long time to pump up the tires.

I liked the upgrades and yes they are a natural progression but are they worth the added 20 bucks. No It still doe the same thing as the other just better but hey that is what a new version is supposed to do. None of the old ones querks were total deal breakers or made me think "holy crap i really need that new one". Great review though. Look forward to the next. You got a follow from me.

I am so curious how the new very small one does pumping up tires, and how hot they get on a full flat if it doesn't have a ridiculously low duty cycle.

I have the old one but it came with the new plastic push on connector. I bought it in the UK. The new one doesn’t tween to be enough of an upgrade to warrant the money

I had the old one for a long time. But it finally died after inflating my cars tires for so long. Was surprised that they don't sell the old model at home Depot anymore. So for the new one. Haven't tried it yet but I'm hoping it does a good job like the old one

I just got a Ridgid inflator. Really well reviewed from Project Farm in comparison to Ryobi at the time. Only $42 using a Home Depot hack. I seldomly use an inflator so the lifetime service agreement helps when and if it goes kaputt

I have a P737 18v for a long time. It is dying on me, so I went to Home Depot to get another inflator. They were supposed to have 26 in stock. After 30 minutes of 3 employees looking for them and they couldn't find even 1. So I go to another store and they are out. I wanted/needed one of the newest ones but I went home empty handed. I guess I will change to another brand.

That "we did 6 psi ... 4 minutes" comparison is not valid. It is much more work and will take much longer to go from 45 psi to 50 psi than it is to go from 0 psi to 5 psi. I have the old one. It's the only portable air pump I repeatedly use. Guess I'll have to pick up a new one now... Thanks for the review!

You're talking about a low pressure addition of air compared to a high pressure, it's harder at high pressure but needs more volume at low

I have the Australian one (CIT1800G, similar to the older version in video) and it's basically the same, except it has a rocker switch for inflating tyres or via the hose, and the tyre hose has a clamp/lever on it to fix it on the valve stem. Still only 150 max PSI pumping out, same length cable, same issues as identified in the video.

What does an 8 lug rim have to do with inflating a tire? Also, why wouldnt you use a more standard size tire? It looks like you have a 33-35 tire? Is that tire size standard where you live? WTH?!

Wondering if either of these will actually inflate a large Motorhome tire to 120 psi. Has anyone out there done this? TIA.

@@slim56 I think you're right, it'll probably overheat before getting close. Maybe if you do it in steps with pauses, but that's not a viable option. I bet the manual has a warning to not exceed x minutes of operation without a cooling down period. I think you have to have a dedicated tire inflator that is great at inflating tires, without the air mattress option - combo tools often do compromise on all functions, better to have a great tire inflator with good cfm, pressure, and operation time specs.

Since Ryobi has permanently banned me from making comments because I said their jump pack was too expensive I'll comment about this Inflator here. My favorite one was the one prior to the older one you showed here. Why bother with these tiny upgrades other than to try and get more money out of you? If your going to release a new inflator make it a substantial upgrade. Ryobi does this with all of their new tools and it's a ripoff.
@bennylloyd-willner9667

Isn't that true of most manufacturers tho? If a manufacturer waits until a new version of a product is significantly better in all features rather than smaller improvements, it can easily be overrun by the competition releasing its stuff. If you don't like it, why not just skip one or more upgrades until you think it's worth it.
