Jason, your not the last of your kind. I'm sitting here on the farm now. I love your song. It does feel like I'm the last of my kind. The city is growing all around but I'm holding out. I'll keep holding out

Greenwood Mills Jason has a little bit of a Dave Matthews vibe. Reminds me a little bit of when Garth Brookes used to cry on TV all the time.

Saw this a couple of months ago and still come back twice a week. When I feel humanity is slipping and I feel lime I'm becoming a drone, this centers me. Jason, if you see this, THANK YOU. Morals and priorities are what I was taught and you remind me of that . You are a true gift

Yes, this. Made me cry to listen to this song and be reminded of all those who came before me and taught me better than this world right now. Thanks for letting me know I am not alone in trying to keep my humanity.

Absolutely fantastic. The kind of song that speaks to your soul if you're from this world he sings about. Truly the last of a kind. Sad really, it's what the world needs now more than ever.

I just heard the rerun of this program yesterday. I've never heard of Jason before. Am an instant fan. Spent a few hours last evening listening to KZfaq videos. Today I will take it a step further , order cds, give a great artist his due. If he ever performed anywhere near Maine, I'd be the first in line for a ticket.

Make sure to see him live when you can. Fantastic performer as well as songwriter. Also, he and his wife Amanda Shires just did a livestream of his new album Reunions from the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville. Alo available on KZfaq.

Jason is new to me and feel so lucky to have found his music. I'm still reeling from the emotion he can bring from the lyrics of a song. I just had the privilege of seeing him live at Shoals Fest in his home town of Florence Alabama and every song was absolutely gut wrenchingly authentic and moving. Maybe one of the best song writers of our time.

Lucky. I’ve listened to DBT’s since I was 15 but not his solo stuff until “Southeastern” came out. I’m from originally from N.E. Alabama and would love to see him in Alabama.

I grew up in a small own in Scotland and I feel he relates to that, though I'm not stupid, I know it's not direct. His music has a quality, but I think maybe it's to those that want to hear it.

I also just discovered him within the last year or so, and am gob-smacked that there had been an artist of his incredible talent out there for last 20 odd years and I'd never heard of him. Consider myself a real music aficionado so kinda stunned. He is, to my mind, simply the finest singer/songwriter of this, or any, generation - with apologies to Steve Earle, John Mellencamp, JT, the Glimmer Twins, Bruce etc. I Love every single song I've heard and consider myself blessed that at age 60 I have a whole new catalog of music to appreciate. And see he won two more Grammys tonight. Has 6 now I think and is still relatively unknown. A crime indeed.

@@FallNorthI agree with you totally, on both points. His songs are definitely in the celtic tradition of storytelling and he is such a master of words that everyone can find something they personally relate to, and feel like jason knows THEM. Didn't express that last bit too well - 7a.m. and I been up all night - but I think you know what I mean. What a f'in talent!

I first heard of Jason via the NPR Tiny Desk series. I loved this song and looked it up on KZfaq, of the 3-4 versions I listened, this was defiantly the best. In the other versions it seems like he's playing with a faster tempo, something is lost there, it loses some of the depth that you feel when listening to this cut. Great stuff! The company he's playing with here doesn't hurt either : )

Of course, Isbell ruled it. But the hand off by Jason to the other acoustic guitar player was awesome, right in tune. As was Thile's jam. This was a fun night.

Unfortunately we can't go back. The world is changing at break neck speed in a downward spiral. However in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter, and in the words of the great Stephen Hawking it's only for " A brief moment in time" before we check out the next chapter. All is well people. 👍

Heard in Season 5 of Billions. He had long hair and I took the tune to be about the hippie hitchhiking where he liked, but now I hear him singing about his boots. He's a cowboy? Oh, my. No more cowboys? Like G.W. wasn't right? Right? Well, no. He was. So, not about the hitch-hiking hippiers. It was my experience that they were being genocided like the American Indian, but just a fashion, right, the hippie? The hippie, commie freak?
