Thank you so much! This helped me a lot. I'm really sensitive about a lot of things and they sort of just pile up overtime and i think about them constantly. And cry because of remembering what happened, how I could've done better, etc. But what you said just now, "if it were someone else, the same thing would've happened to them too." And that "being sensitive isn't a bad thing." I really needed this Thanks so much. It clears up my worries a little bit better and possibly come up with a solution too. :)) Your voice is so soothing too tbh!

This is brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. It's been brought to my attention recently that I've been too sensitive with one of my friends. Now I'm not gonna change who I am for someone. Or anyone for that matter. But I have noticed that I've been scrutinizing little details of the interactions between us, which is causing me to be way more overly sensitive than I need to be. I realize after watching this video I am taking it too personally, much more than I need to be, because really the interactions of my friend is just the way she is. Kind, but often times blunt and short. I've been taking it way too personally, which causes me to feel like I'm being attacked, when really she is doing no such thing. It's something I've created in my mind as a form of self sabotage and limiting belief, which will ironically push her away if I continue doing it. But realizing that I should not take her behaviors so personally, when she is just being herself, and focus more on what she is feeling instead and less on me, should help a lot. Thank you for this enlightening information and perspective.

This helps me. The part where you said I can imagine you being in the situation, made me smile. My mother in law just complained at length at me for turning off the light. I got offended because I felt I was falsely accused. I could tell that she was angry mainly because of other things that had happened these 2 days. So while venting to my husband, we solved what we think was the real issue she's been experiencing. However, even after that I still feel very angry at her and this emotion can last for a few days and hindering me from doing other things. This is how I found ur video. The way you explained was soothing. It's true that it could be anyone

I'm not sensitive. I 'm strong. But my parents interpret identifying an emotion and expressing that as ''sensitive'' so I grew up being told I was sensitive. I wasn't. I knew what I felt and I expressed it. They gaslit me for years and NOW I am very, very sensitive to being gaslit..

I've been so caught up by the "they wont change, people wont and dont want to change so living just isn't for me" mindset that every day just feels very miserable. I think that redirecting my energy to not think too much about others' thoughts like you advised can help. there will always be insensitive people and i think it's best i relearn how to reign in my reactions so i dont end up sad and angry towards people all the time

I had a pretty good day today. Our teacher gave us some corrections for my group's project, and finally we could understand some things that we were doing wrong. I got home, and my parents were waiting for me. They were watching a funny series on the TV. A while later, we were eating dinner. It was delicious, my dad prepared it and told me it was a surprise for me (he knows I really like that dish). I couldn't be happier, but then they wanted to watch this other series, which is long and dramatic. I wasn't paying attention at the beggining, but slowly as the chapter progressed I started feeling quite upset. I thought "Ugh! This series is unbearable, so negative! I was feeling good today, I didn't want to end the day with a negative series...". You know, my family likes to watch a series when having dinner, (sometimes also during lunch), unlike me, but I don't want them to stop doing it for me, so I justy finished eating, brushed my teeth and went to my room. It's silly, you know? It's just a series, it shouldn't affect me, at least not as much as it did, but the thing is that it did, and that makes me feel frustrated with myself. Not being able to control how I feel or react to things also affects me in those moments when you're, for example, discussing with someone and you need to convince, or be firm, things like that. So it's funny that watching this video not only it really helped me understand those situations, but it's just so obvious! Shifting the focus from yourself to others, watching the scene from a third person's perspective, or even thinking about the triggers has instantly helped me to dissolve those bad feelings, and get back to normal, no matter if was just a series what caused it like this time, or if it is something else. Thank you very much!

That's so true. I have tried to remind myself that majority of the times, any negativity with interactions I might experience from people isn't personal, but I still can't get rid of the negative feelings I get from it. And I remunerate soo much AND I think about how someone else would've handled it better. In my defense, I'm not used to confrontation or having to challenge people often, so I guess I'm still learning, but it's really annoying I compare my reaction or response in different situations to how others would have handled it. I'm naturally a happy person, but I feel like lately I've become more and more sensitive and so even slightly negative interactions can have me thinking about that for days or even WEEKS, etc and I hate that I feel like I don't have control over my mind and emotions.

However, placing someone else in that situation gets me even more fired up! I've seen SO much destruction by others bc someone failed to stand up. Maybe it's selfish, but then I realized I'd rather be the one insulted "bc I can take it!" WOW full circle! Haha thanks Dr Paul! Taking a longer route but your message is clear! Thanks!

Thank you so much man❤ , I'm so sensitive so that sometimes I feel insecure even with my family! But I've created a method that helped me a lot , the method is that before I go to bed I meditate and remember all the times that I felt insecure, and look at myself as a third person ... I actually don't know why is this method is so affective and good for me.

The thing is, I don’t take things personally all the time, I just get angry that regardless of whether this person is personally triggering me or not, I shouldn’t have to deal with their bullishit. I know that they don’t personally mean to attack me, that If someone else was standing in my shoes, they’d also experience this, but that’s not enough for me not to get annoyed.

I wish just reframing was that easy. My ego shows up and gets louder. Because I'm in the process of learning to trust myself, I have to acknowledge what my ego is saying (warning me not to be a co-dependant doormat), validate my hurt, then I can turn my attention on reframing and removing myself. Doing all this while trying to stay grounded is no easy task 🤦

Thanks for this. The stupidest stuff upsets me. I used to be able to defend myself but somrthing happened and now I can't. Someone started an argument on me the other day for telling someone else that I have autism and that made me feel a certain way towards something (it made sense in context) but someone else didn't understand that and started going on about how I should tell other people that because there's no need and they also have it and they don't tell people (again me saying it made sense in context they just missed it somehow) so I told them how it makes other people feel and how we aren't all the same, this guy continues on saying that I'm speaking for all ppl with autism even though I stated that I wasn't talking about everyone with it, just my self and a few people I had talked to. So I told him how to felt and all he had to say to it after upsetting me was "I'm not reading that." And it just made me angry even though I didn't do anything else and It was just a misunderstanding which they didn't want to admit. Whenever I get all sensitive I cry even when I'm not sad just angry and then it makes me sad that I was sad and then it's this whole thing of me just being sad over the stupidest things. I think this video actually really helped. Thanks for everything.

No one really calls me sensitive but I know I am. A couple days ago someone called my face hideous on an app called yubo and I made a joke out of it at first with all my friends. But then after some thought I realised it hurt my feelings a little. And I told myself I shouldn’t care about this strangers opinion I don’t even know them. And I had a conversation with all my friends and they were there to reassure me that the person probably wasn’t having the best day and wanted to take it out on someone. They called me delusional if I thought I was hideous but I really need to learn how to not care about someone else’s opinion especially if they’re a stranger. I’m probably talking to myself but if you’re reading thanks for listening to my venting LOL

What happens if it’s what other people feel that causes my anxiety? I fear people that are angry. Which ultimately made me lose my job. The environment was so toxic, people weren’t happy no matter what I tried during that job. I even tried doing more work. I’ve even asked them what I could do better or why they were upset. Communication is supposed to go both ways and nothing worked. I’m not a person who gets mad for some reason. I just don’t lose my temper with others. When I do finally lose my temper it’s more rage and rage isn’t anger, just another form of it.

I need a bro-coach… broach? I’m a guy who feels this the more I age. I get so wound up in my head that I’ve already determined the outcome of a situation without even having experienced it. The outcome just feels negative and then I just automatically feel attacked or I retreat into myself and get sensitive about it for no real good reason. Or if I ask someone a question and I feel like the response is very defensive I feel unfairly treated and it spirals. I’m going to try and just replace myself with other people like you said. I feel like the more I understand the better I can cope.

I want to stop the person from talking and beat him up (coworkers, bosses, strangers, clients) but never did (thank God). I feel like I'm being attacked and insulted. I asked myself so many times why I feel this way 'cuz I hate it. I lose my cool and feel bad after. Maybe it's my ego, or too sensitive, that's the reason I looked for this on youtube. I'll try the advise and see what happens. Thank you.

Hello Sir. Thanks for this video. I have a question, and I hope you would kindly take time to answer. Sometimes when there is a difficult conversation that comes close to triggering a stronger reaction from me, I have tried to calm down for a second and think about it from the other person's perspective l: like what you said as putting some space...but then I come back to myself and become defensive because I feel If I don't stand up for myself, no one's going to..and certainly not the other person in front of me. So why am I'm trying to understand them when they aren't... What do I do to resolve this practically..
@LiveOnPurposeTV
@LiveOnPurposeTV 2 жыл бұрын
Psk, there is so much here I don't know that I can help in a comment. Stay calm and if you can't, walk away for a bit and come back to it later. Put what you think is their perspective in words and say it back to them. Ask them what they think your perspective is on the situation and that may help to get some clarity.
