its most likely secure/ encrypted data that need custom software but you can google it :) there is software that will tell you if there is data on the card

The laws are strict over here in the U.K. if we get caught with a firearm without a licence we would get a minimum 5 years upto 10 years even if its your first offence

I live very close to the leeds/liverpool canal and it recently burst a culvert and emptied a section of the cut. The stuff that was on the bed was unbelievable! A cash register was just one thing, but there was all kinds of shady people down there trying to retrieve stuff they'd once thought would never be found again!

Good thing you found that hammer when you did. Came in handy for pulling out the big stuff. Might be worth keeping a couple of short pieces of pipe in your kit just for such situations.

In the command prompt go to diskpart and see if you can see it there if it labels the drive. then go to devmgmt.msc Uninstall and install drivers again. Make sure its not write protected. If all fails then theres nothing to access. If it was formatted for use you will see the partition even with corrupted files that cant be read.

@@seanakf Magnets do not have any effects on flash drives (osb sticks and SD cards, as well as SSD drives). It is not built of magnetic parts, thus it's not affected. Nor do water pose any threat, unless the drive is powered, which I highly doubt those flash drives were :)

Hello mate, really enjoyed your video and I’ve seen you’ve replied to other people’s comments so I just thought I’d mention something that’s been annoying me more and more lately. I spend hours and hours walking the canals and rivers around where I live, fishing. I’ve notice over the last few years more and more people magnet fishing although I’ve never seen anyone doing it I know they’ve been there by the piles of scrap metal I come across spread along the river bank. I have nothing against people magnet fishing, good luck to them but I hate LITTER BUGS, Could you perhaps mention on your videos the importance of taking your finds home, no matter what they are. The memory card are most likely formatted under Linux ext3 / ext4 or xfs. Windows can't read Linux drives, but you can download a program to read them like "explore2fs"

Just thinking a lifting strop may help with lifting the larger things out. Cheapest way to get one is go to a car breakers and get a old seat belt and use the webbing from that.

How do you know where the meter came from?

@@drasticg Ok so a simple googling of the number on the side of the meter (020 3046 0010) retrieves a company called 'RingGo'. This is most likely the company who owns the meter. When going onto their website, you can put in the meter number (in this case its 9299) which relates back to a car park on the mentioned street.

Use Linux to check the flash disks. It looks like an ext4 file system or similar, at least you can get more information about the file system. Just because windows OS doesn't recognize them does not mean they are corrupt.

The bit at the end when your trying to access those memory cards. The local councils have the programme to read the encrypted information on them. They basically contain information on how much money the machine has taken and times etc when it's emptied. That way they can gather information on what areas are busiest and when and as such put parking wardens in the right areas. I've just realised I'm a nerd for knowing this but I used to work for a company in Paddock Wood in Kent that built components for them.

I'd be more concerned about the council coming after you for theft. As the machine and all contents are still owned by them you could still be done even if you did drag them out of a canal..

Many SD cards have a feature called write-protection toggled on and off by a switch on the left side of the SD card. With write-protection enabled, files cannot be modified. If your SD card has a write-protection switch, make sure it is set to disabled, or in the opposite direction that it points to "LOCK" on the card. Then you can try using the SD card again and see if this fixes the issue.

Hi mate, I to am interested to see whats on the SD cards. More than likely one SD card is for the firmware, the other is probably for car licence plates that used the machine and the other one will be a list of transactions. The best way of looking what on them is ruining any Linux cd in live mode on your pc (it runs in RAM so you wont have to install anything) and checking if they mount. The switch on the side of the cards only stops data being written to the card, so won’t be that. The only thing you could really do, without sanding the plastic away to access the chip inside, is to open disk management and see if it shows in there. Might need formatting and then the data recovering using something like recuva. Chances are though that the metal contacts are corroded, might just need a clean but might be completely ruined.

I have no idea its freaky as the northwest has some polluted waters, think its because there is no movement in the water so the silk falls to the bottom

Cool vids. Check the SD cards aren't in write protected mode, there is a tiny swith on the side of the card to change this.

That would not prevent the cards from being accessed. It might be the cause of why Windows says it can't recover/fix the third card, because that might need write access, but it shouldn't have prevented Windows from reading what's on the card. The cards are either damaged beyond repair by having been in the water for so long that something inside has corroded away, or the data on them is in a format that Windows just can't recognize. Might even have some software on them that prevents a Windows PC from accessing them, in case there's sensitive data on there - don't these ticket machines sometimes have cameras installed in them so the company that puts them up has some evidence to show the police in case someone tries to vandalize them? One of the cards might be for that camera to store video data on.

drasticg if I found a gun I would take the magazine and disassemble the parts off it and hand in the main body as I am a very big fan of firearms and ammunition. I’m actually british and have lots of bullets but they are all fired so there’s no way I can just be arrested for it

We’re u was fishing there by the red lion pub the waterways that dredge the canal is just over the other side there . So people won’t chuck stuff they don’t want people to find there . If u turned right on the canal there is about 4/5 bridges towards (Liverpool direction ) all close together that’s we’re all good stuff will be .

A city archaeologist watched our videos and decided to sue us for fishing in his waters, had to sign a cease and desist sometime back in March I think and we'll have to drive to another state close by now to go magnet fishing, they gave us a permit. Anyway, if that hammer head is still intact and it's just the handle broken off I'm still interested, I put a new handle on mine and people complained I was too aggressive using an angle grinder to clean it off so I would like to please the masses and try to be soft and gentle with another one haha :)

On the SD card there is a lock on the side. make sure it is unlocked first. Most likely its a OS for the machine.

2:50.. That's a steel box to press certain "substances" back into a rock after you've cut it with another substance, there will be another piece that slots in the top.. I know from my younger silly days
