As usual Kieran Gibbs talking nonsense, how are Liverpool not "up there" with Arsenal and City. They were leading the league for the vast majority of the season and had the most amount of injuries by a huge margin compared to Arsenal and Cities injuries. Im not saying they will challenge for the title next season but to dismiss them as not one of the best teams in the league is one dimensional thinking.

@@droo9466 Feyenoorder here, before Arne came we were not always 3rd or 4th. In fact we were in quite a bad position, with lots of debt and no money to spend. First season he lost half his team and could reinvest 5,5 mio euro only. He (and staff) has build a solid foundation to work forwards from.

We have our own style of play. He is only a coach. Edwards directs our style of play - as established and refined by Klopp, Pep, Beale, Inglethorpe and Rodgers. We will continue the way we played under Brendan(13/14 Brendan) and Klopp. Slot's style of play is just exactly the same as us, so there is no need for squadbuilding.

Klopp had set up the team with young players and a nice future, unlike Ferguson and Wenger. Slot isn't Klopp but he has a much better set up than the managers that followed Ferguson and Wenger.

I once dated a Dutch girl. She said her dad comes from an area in Holland where it is frowned upon to display emotion...And this is my argument as to why, generally speaking, although the Dutch coaches are world class at producing players, they struggle with player personalities, especially in a day and age when these athletes are selfish and delusional spoiled brats.

As a Dutchman I can tell you Slot will not struggle with players, even if there's brats.....he just doesn't care and certainly will feel no desire to change them. He'll just have them as they are while getting them playing best they can, that's Slot's strength. He's a calm, down to earth guy and even the English press will have a hard time getting under his skin. He's not trying to pretend he invented football and just explains players how they can improve, in a pleasant way the players will not mind. I'm not proud of Ter Hag or Van Gaal....but Slot is a superb choice Liverpool made.....ofcourse, like any manager he'll need results and if they somehow not come you know what happens in football.

I think he'll definetly succeed as head coach. He seems to be a great tactician and has proven he can improve players. Don't forget, it'll likely be Edwards, Hughes and Ward handling transfers because Slot has not been appointed as manager.

Liverpool fan here. "Why is Arne Slot any different from other managers from the Eredivisie?" Well, in all honesty, he's not, is he. Klopp has left the club in a pretty good place with solid foundations to work on, so you would think that Arne would be able to build on that. We all know there is a slight gap in quality due to his jump to the EPL, but anything can happen - not even Klopp himself can guarantee success next season if he had stayed on. All we can do is give him our support and patience, and hope that with time, he'll be able to figure it out.

Liverpool will be alright as Arne Slot will slot in nicely...He has his trusted comrades in Jyri Nieminen (Gk Coach) Sipke Hulshoff, Etienne Reijnen, Reuben Peeters & John De Wolf..A proper spine, proper footballing guys doing the recruitment while he concentrates on coaching...Arne Slot might win the epl in his 1st season, never say never..

He didn’t even win the league this year with Ajax being terrible. I fear Liverpool have a coach worst than Ten Haag and he is going fill Liverpool with many mediocre Dutch coaching staff and we will become a midtable team and all our stars will go. Ten Haag came in at Man Utd bought all this Dutch league players and turned Man Utd into a mediocre team.

In my opinion there are some legendary managers that are irreplaceable and no matter how good of a coach you are it's easier said than done replacing a manager who served the club well and had a lasting legacy and impact. We've seen this at Manchester United after Sir Alex Ferguson's departure, Arsenal with Arsene Wenger until recently under Mikel Arteta, we could see this with Pep Guardiola at Manchester City if he leaves next year. After a successful stint at the club, Jurgen Klopp's time with Liverpool has come to an end which is a sad day for football because of what he delivered and brought to that club even has just 1 PL title in 9 years and made them an elite club again, Arne Slot has some big shoes to fill. We saw the same thing at Borussia Dortmund, replacing a manager like Klopp who is an expert at rebuilding teams is very difficult and if you're his successor, you face a lot of pressure in filling his void. Many people wanted Xabi Alonso, Roberto De Zerbi or even Ruben Amorim, I guess Slot was the one that they were after and they got their man even if it wasn't what Liverpool fans wanted and that's part of football, you won't get what you want it's the harsh reality of life that has to be accepted. There has been skepticism surrounding Liverpool fans due to his lack of experience at the top level and how he's never coached a big job. From what I heard of him, they're getting a promising manager who should suit their long term project and they found someone who has the same philosophy and system implemented like Klopp. He's done excellent work at a club like Feyenoord even though he's been on a fraction of a budget like Klopp having success without spending big money working with what you have at your disposal and developing players. Many people will bring up the last time a premier league club got a manager from the Erderversie. The difference between him and Erik Ten Hag is when Ten Hag was at Ajax, he was on a better squad with a certain amount of money to spend. The step up from Feyenoord to Liverpool is huge especially since he's replacing Klopp and Liverpool fans have to back him have patience with him because these sort of projects don't work overnight and there should be some optimism around him even if he's inexperienced.

Liverpool have a long history of bringing in players who were ‘out of left field’ so to speak. Players who were never on anyone’s radar and yet managed to turn them into successes. I even remember a lot of scepticism about Mo Salah joining from Roma. At that time he was a comparatively little known RM who had already failed to make an impact at Chelsea. The previous managers at Liverpool before Klopp were obvious choices but were less than successful. Admittedly Klopp was a big name too coming from what he achieved at Dortmund, but I see no reason why FSG shouldn’t take a punt on a ‘out of left field’ manager like they do with players. As a Liverpool fan, my preference would have been for Amorim, but I am certainly willing to give Arne a chance. And I still thank god it wasn’t De Zerbi 😂.

As a Dutchman I can tell you Liverpool players and fans will be happy with Slot. He's a calm, down to earth guy and without overdoing tactical plans, he can get the best out of players while still letting them play football instead of just performing tasks/tactical plans. He's not after fame or making a carreer/name and players will accept him easily, he' has a nice natural way of being the boss, without having to try hard, he doesn't need that. Also I expect the press having a hard time getting under his skin, he'll stay calm. Still in football Slot and every trainer will need results and if somehow they don't come....you know what happens. I think Liverpool made a very very good choice in Slot unlike ManUtd did with Ter Hag.....he's not the guy for a big club and maybe England/Premier League was not the best choice for him.

He's not a manager. He's a coach. That means, we already have our style of play- the Klopp/Rodgers blueprint that has been distilled over the last 14 years- by Inglethorpe, Beale, Rodgers, Pep, Klopp etc.. And masterfully facilitated by Edwards, the statistics dept, the scouting and procurement. Since we are a club run by consensus- the modern "Boot Room", we have throroughly ran this system through it's paces, vetted by a group of some the finest minds in football today, and it has held up. His job is to coach the best out of the players so they can continue to perform and play the way they have been playing since 2013/2014. High-energy, Gegen-pressing, high-line, with attacking and passing fullbacks. He is not tasked with instilling a football philosophy and having to procure players for that philosophy, like a Manager has to. We already have, and do that- to a very successful degree. Like Mario, you are making the mistake of comparing a coach with a manager. Our "manager" is Edwards. He is the director of our style of play and he will oversee all future coaching appointments. The era of the manager is over at Liverpool. One of the last clubs to still hold onto the old. Klopp was our last, and one of our best!

@@junioradult6219 Do you really think Guardiola has little to no say in who in what players are bought and sold? Get real. You obviously don't follow football (notably Liverpool) very closely as in the summer Klopp effectively said that he had little-no say in transfers. Klopp/Liverpool needed (amongst other things) a quality CB and a top quality DM. Liverpool/FSG (not Klopp) didn't buy a CB, but bought an aging DM from a Stuttgart team finishing close to the relegation places, a Bayern Munich reject, and Macalister, a player who was seen as 'an absolute bargain' and could be sold for lots of money even if not successful. All of that has FSG's fingerprints all over it, not Klopp's.

Slot knows one thing: the odds and the analysts are against him. There is very little faith. Guess what? That is his comfort zone. PL is a very tough league, but LFC is a very strong football squad and a very special topsport community. I am very confident in the combination of LFC fans, LFC operational structure, LFC squad and Slot as head coach.

In Holland the supporting of Feyenoord is intense as intense can be; with nothing to compare. Arne Slot managed to become a Feyenoord Hero in just three years; he will be sadly missed and all of Feyenoord loves him and hope he will succeed in Liverpool as well. Mind you; both cities Rotterdam and Liverpool are off course big harbour cities with that strong and heavy mentality and I've no doubt in my mind that he will succeed; please give him some time after Klopps reign and please, do not ever compare him with Ten Hag, because Ajax is (was) a very wealthy club and succes was much easier than Feyenoord, where Slot had to work with little money. By the way; never compare Feyenoord with Ajax; it's like water and fire. Greetings from that little country the Netherlands , in fact your neighbours, on the other side of the Northsea.
