yep insane dominance. I think they made the finals a couple of times more but didnt win, just goes to show how consistent they were. Modern day football is much more competitive though, its hard to imagine Klopp winning 3 more UCL titles. Not because he is a worse coach than Paisley, but because of the financial situation, the high level or competition and rivals, and the insanely packed season with way too many games, causing a lot of injuries and form drop off. 38 league games at least 6 UCL group games, up to 7 playoff games, so 13 maximum total League Cup is up to 6 games FA Cup is up to 6 games Then there is the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup if you win the UCL Community Shield game if you win EPL or FA Cup. And then there a lot of national team games, especially if EURO or FIFA WC happens. So 63+ club games and + national team games.

The fact we won it 4 times in less than a decade, just shows that that Kennedy, Souness, Dalglish, Grobbelaar, team is one of the best teams in history. That decade of Liverpool domination never gets enough credit from anyone

Either that or you are too young to have been around then and soak up the reaction over the years Haysel ruined everything for English clubs and it overshadowed a lot but what Liverpool did in the mid 70s to the late 80s is respected and heralded quite rightly throughout the game Btw I'm not a Liverpool fan but was around back then

For me, 2005 was and is still my most favourite Champions League Final to date. How Liverpool remarkably came back from 3 - 0 down at half time against AC Milan to leveling up at 3 - 3 in the second half in just a 6 minute spell, then going through extra time and winning 3 - 2 on penalty shoot outs to win the European Cup for the fifth time. Definitely a great Liverpool FC moment I'd never forget! YNWA

Istanbul, 2005. AC Milan were in control, deservedly went 3 - 0 up and playing like future Champions. Second half however, they were a mess, all over the shop. Just shows you, it's more mental game than physical. Credit to the comeback kings Liverpool, genuine European giants.

Even when Liverpool lost the finals they never lost fairly. 1985. Never a penalty. Boniek was a metre or more outside. 2007. Inzaghi handball goal. Clearly came off his arm. 2018. Ramos taking out Salah and elbowing Karius in the head.

I still can't believe that 2005 team won the Champions League. Not only the final, but the road to the final was insane too. Zlatan hitting the bar in the second leg against Juve would have put Liverpool out on away goals had it gone in. Gudjohnsen missing in the last minute of the semi final after Liverpool leading the whole game with a goal that's debatable whether it crossed the line or not. Unreal campaign. It was just meant to be.

Milan shouldnt be allowed in champions league that year because they are found guilty of match fixing, in the end they are allowed to be played through qualifying rounds all the way to the finals

Borussia, Brugge, Roma and Tottenham have played only 1 Final in all of their history, and have never won the trophy. AC and Madrid have beaten blazoned teams in Finals. AC won it against Barcelona, Ajax, Juventus, Benfica and Liverpool. Madrid against AC, Liverpool and Juventus.

Real shame about Heysel and that European ban during late 80's. Imagine the prime Barnes and Co take on Sacchi's Milan! Uffsss! We could have added at least 2 more titles to our cabinet, but ya that's life and football at times! I'm sure we will win one more (at least) under Jurgen! YNWA

Thank you for videos like this. I became a Liverpool fan when Istanbul happened (the sport wasn't nearly as broadcast back then in America), so I'm still working on learning the history of the club. Getting to see highlights from matches like this is remarkable and shows how truly special the teams (and club) were. Brilliant stuff!

@@mikeburke3576 ESPN used to have the broadcasting rights, then FOX, then it kept changing, but they always did UCL matches. Premier League started blossoming here around that time too.

Istanbul 2005 ,Milan scores within 1 min,2-0 in 2 mins. Milan all the way. Shevchenko, crespo, kaka, pirlo all dominating and threatening to score on each attack. 3-0 half time. 2nd half Gerard starts the fight back, smicer, Alonso Haman wakes up and joins the fight back. Carra does heroic warrior defending denying Milan several sure goals . Dudek pulls off unbelievable saves to deny Milan in regular time. Repeats heroics in penalty shoot out including saving a pirlo penalty. That was the time Liverpool fought back like warriors and won

The fire and calm between caragher and dudek was a winning chemistry. They took turns when chastising each other and came together when they took turns to drag the team out of certain defeat.
