Such an endless circle of embarrassment in getting really good players!😢 Maybe that was the reason we got the new coach afterall: frugality above anything other considerations! 🤔

They dropped £85 million on Nunez and were prepared to drop £111 million on Caicedo, so this myth that FSG doesn't spend money needs to stop being propagated.

@@Ice-tc5vn Nunez's total transfer cost was £85 million - £64 million upfront and £21 million in add-ons, a number of which have been triggered, which means that Liverpool have paid approximately £70 odd million for his services, most of which is covered by the money that FSG freed up, not from Mane's transfer fee. FSG were prepared to buy Bellingham provided he would be Klopp's only transfer last summer. However, we needed to sign several midfield players, therefore the money that Klopp was given was used to buy 4 players as opposed to just one. The Caicedo bid came because Henderson and Fabinho were moved on. Your conspiratoral view of that bid is irrelevant.

FSG paid 337 M Euro in 2018 to bring VVD, Alisson, Fabinho, Shaqiri, and Wilson. Half of that was funded by the Coutinho sale. And this is 2018 money not adjusted for inflation to 2024 prices. It's reasonable to suggest that FSG may sell Nunez, Salah, Carvalho, Tsimikas, Williams, and Phillips for 180 M Euro to bring in Diomande @CB, Wieffer or Monaco's Fofana @DM, Juventus's Soulé as a RW (exceptional talent) and Gyorkeres at CF for 300 M Euro.

@@Buenossss A lesser fee doesn't indicate that the player is of lesser quality. Because of lucrative TV deals, Eredivisie teams aren't as rich as Premier League teams and are forced to sell their players for smaller fees to stay afloat. For instance, last year, Ajax sold Kudus for £37 million, but this year, West Ham are holding out for £70-80 million for him, simply because they don't have to sell. Regardless, the experts are waxing lyrical about Bakayoko. He's got great stats - 12 goals, 9 assists in the league - and he's only 20. I'd love it if he came in.

Olise is great, but the injuries are worrying. Kudus would be a great addition, but is he consistent enough? He has patches of form and then goes pretty quiet.

Reliable sources at Liverpool say we have a €125m transfer budget this summer. Add the departure of Kostas Tsimikas, Rhys Williams, Nathaniel Phillips, Sepp Van Den Berg to that and you’re on about €170-180m for a defensive midfielder, 2 defenders and maybe a winger.

Kudus isn't the right person, he doesn't score enough. Olise is better but too injury prone. Soulé from Juventus is cheaper and better than Kudus.
