In our latest canal boat diaries, we move from Liverpool to the Rufford Branch as we explore Britain by Narrowboat.
Leaving the Liverpool Link we take narrowboat Silver Fox to rejoin the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, cruising through Bootle, Litherland, Melling, Maghull and Burscough on our way back to the Rufford Branch on our way to the Ribble Link.
Dillon discovers the joys of jumping into the canal, we join the queue for a broken swing bridge passage and we discover the worst fish and chips we've ever tasted!

My goodness -- easily the best narrowboat vlog out there (and there are some brilliant ones) . The swan bit was inspired!!! I love the way you mix talking with the different bits of filming and then the music with quiet moments. However the best editing in the world wouldn't work without friendly, interesting and most of all genuine characters. xxx

The time-lapse speeded-up video makes the boat look like it's a speedboat "on the step". And then there's "A quick bit of reverse parking"! I've never been on a boat with a bow thruster, but I do know how cool it is to just reverse into a mooring like parking a car! Another exemplary video. I love you guys. You put my fire out.

Glad to see you have good weather to start your new life, it means that things start off on a positive note. It’s a shame that you had a problem with your hot water, but glad it was quickly sorted. It’s only natural that you experience teething problems with a new boat, it’s just part of the learning curve. Glad to see your dog is enjoying her new life, you can’t beat the gentle aroma of a wet dog in a boat, it gives a special atmosphere. That shot of the frogs on the roof with NSF reflected in the patio windows as you moved smartly along was terrific. Hi chaps, great to see Silver Foxes doing her thing. Just a little teeny weeny request/suggestion type thingy, could you/would you on one or more occasions just do a raw chugging along, no music etc video in real time, say a 30min segment ? This would be as though we ware living your dream (sorry, you invited ALL of us, just kidding), and getting the actual feel of boating ! This would be like a breath of fresh air, an escape from our lives (ok a day pass), a break, a relaxing meander across this beautiful land via it's stunning inland waterways. I have watched someone drive a truck for hours, a lass making a coffee on her humble stove, all of these things made me feel more apart of and understanding of the tranquility attached to such endeavors. Hey Adam 👋🏻 Gonna be honest here... That’s really not us and there’s already several channels out there who vlog like that so we wouldn’t want to tread on their toes. Our vlogs are produced to reflect our personality, and although I never say never, I can’t imagine I’d put out a 30+ minute real-time vlog. Don’t be mad 😠 Admittedly, we’re a bit more energetic than some of the other boating vloggers, but we’ll always produce videos that are real-life as we experience it. xxxxxxxxxx

Hi Guys. Ive been a fan for a few months and am really enjoying your vlogs. They are very professional, Colin is a mine of info about the historical stuff and Sean makes me laugh all the time. We have been narrow boating four times now and love it! This year we did the Leeds and Liverpool. We started at Silsden and went towards Saltaire which we loved. Then we turned round and went as far as we could before turning round for home. We have never seen so many swing bridges! We worked out we did 60 in a week. One was so damaged we had to get 4 passers by to jump up and down on the other end whilst we moved it. Like Sean I operated a road bridge and waited for it to open feeling a right wally because there were people waiting. I then realised there was a push bar. Oops! We have never worked a swing bridge with key locks before. We did the Bingley Five and Three (quite an experience) The views were breath taking. Gorgeous sunsets. We didn't feel relaxed at the end though as we were so busy operating bridges. Do you tend to stay up north or do you venture all over UK? Keep going with your addictive vlogs. They are great.

I'll never get tired of the beautiful scenery around the canals. I live in Arizona so there's not a lot of green, but it does have it's own special beauty. The closes thing to a canal boat is a air mattress in a pool. After your well deserved break, I'll be looking forward to your next video.

Haskayne is a place that I can't forget - it is the place that my Grandfather was born - on the fly-boat Isabella around 1876! You will probably have guessed - I am a descendant from a Boatman's family - who can trace his ancestry back to the opening of the Leeds-Liverpool Canal!

I have really enjoyed these videos. Why? I used to live in Southport and have both cycled and driven around this part of Lancashire. This is very familiar country to me, and as I now live in Malta, it is nice to see old places again.

Making my way through your past vlog's as time permits. This is a corker. Great scenery for sure. Nought beats a canal boat trip in sunny weather. :-) Following your journey using some old British Waterways booklets I've bought over the years. It's the 1966 version of the British Waterways Inland Cruising Booklet 16 titled "Cruising on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal" (Price Six Shillings) I'm using here. Doesn't show any of the Rufford Branch other than the turn off point though. Keep up the good work guys. We are still in lockdown here in Melbourne, Australia, so your video's are a great way to while away the time.

Foxes Afloat . Thanks for the reply guy's. As for the barbed wire fence it's easy. If the wire is shining and looks almost new with no bits missing , it's to keep people in. If it's ragged and Rusty with bits missing it's to keep people out. . If you were to scratch your self and get blood poisoning on the rusty stuff braking in tough. if you were to do the same Trying to get out you can sue. hence cleanish shining wire.
